How to make a Stop Motion Short Film!
Join to comment
Alright, so this here topic is for all of you new to creating stop motions. I hope that it helps, and if you feel confident enough with this knowledge, join the Animator's Club's first contest! Alright, so let's begin. Making a stop motion requires a few things: time, a (decent) camera, an imagination and something to put it all together with. I started with a simple walking cycle, and moved on from there. You first set up the figures, and then take a picture. Then you position them in another way and take another picture, until you have a short little scene. Then you throw all your pictures into a movie making/editing software (such as windows movie maker) and you're pretty much done! Play around with the settings until you get the right FPS (Frames Per Second), so that it looks good. You can add sounds and audio, but that requires a bit more time and skill to do. Just a tip, try to keep your camera as still as you possibly can, or else it won't look as good.

I have found that one easy-ish way is to make it on a Nintendo 3DS.

Not bad. It is a bit grainy and the lighting is rather dark, but it is fairly smooth.

Part of it is that I did it in black/white, the color versions I did just weren't long enough in my opinion. It probably wouldn't have been as grainy if it were in color though.
