Welcome to Round 5 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics! At this point we definitely trust you all know how things work, but if you’re still not feeling 100% certain, head on over to the “rules” thread and enlighten yourselves. We’ve hit the semi-finals! Only four of you are still up and running. Segueing from The Lord of the Rings, the theme for all Round 5 categories is “The Hobbit”. As before, the short write-ups beneath the match-ups simply provide tidbits of context. Don’t feel limited by them, though please stay on topic!
Round 5 begins now and ends at 11:59PM (Mocpages time) on 3/10/13. No Round 5 entries will be accepted after that time.
Required for all Round 5 entries:
-Title your entry: MELO Round 5: [your name] vs. [your opponent’s name]
-State your bracket (Barad Dur or Orthanc) FIRST THING in the intro box. As there are two sets of judges, this immediately informs them if your entry is in their bracket or not. It’s a courtesy!
-Provide a WORKING link to your opponent’s homepage or entry (depending on which of you posts first), placed preferably near the top of your entry’s page. You can also include a link to the MELO homepage if you’d like (appreciated, but not required).
-State the category you’re playing in, preferably near the top of your page.
And now gents, without further ado, the Round 5 match-ups and categories!
Barad Dur Bracket: As before, your judges are Mark Murphy, Christopher Baldacci, and Ian Spacek. The judges are not required to give feedback on their decisions.
Playing in this bracket we still have…
Disco 86 vs. Martin Geitstefeldt
Category: "Black arrow, fail me not!"
One bowman stands alone amidst the flames. Lake-town is burning. He knocks the black arrow and draws back the string. The dragon is nigh. Give us a brick-built glimpse of Mr. Smaug as he descends upon Lake-town.
Orthanc Bracket: As before, your judges are Michael Kringe, Max Pointner, and Aidan Moon. The judges are not required to give feedback on their decisions.
And playing in this bracket we still have…
Kyle Ransom vs. Jacob Nion
Category: Flies and Spiders
"Old fat spider spinning in a tree! Old fat spider can't see me! Attercop! Attercop! Down you drop! You'll never catch me up your tree!" It's Sting’s time to shine! Twelve dwarf-shaped bundles, an army of arachnids, and an invisible three-foot-tall menace struggling in the depths of Mirkwood…you know the drill, get building!
Round 5 is live!
[Edit] Due to the issue with the pictures, the Round 5 deadline has been extended:
