Round 4

Welcome to Round 4 of the Middle Earth Lego Olympics (launched on Aragorn and Arwen’s favorite holiday)! At this point we trust that you all know how things work, but if you’re still not feeling 100% certain, head on over to the “rules” thread and enlighten yourselves. Eight of you are still up and running! The theme for all Round 4 categories is “The Return of the King”. The short write-ups beneath the match-ups serve simply to provide tidbits of context. Don’t feel limited by them, though please stay on topic!

Round 4 begins now and ends at 11:59PM (Mocpages time) on 2/24/13. No Round 4 entries will be accepted after that time.

Required for all Round 4 entries:

-Title your entry: MELO Round 4: [your name] vs. [your opponent’s name]

-State your bracket (Barad Dur or Orthanc) FIRST THING in the intro box. As there are two sets of judges, this immediately informs them if your entry is in their bracket or not. It’s a courtesy!

-Provide a WORKING link to your opponent’s homepage or entry (depending on which of you posts first), placed preferably near the top of your entry’s page. You can also include a link to the MELO homepage if you’d like (appreciated, but not required).

-State the category you’re playing in, preferably near the top of your page.

And now gents, without further ado, the Round 4 match-ups and categories!

Barad Dur Bracket: As before, your judges are Mark Murphy, Christopher Baldacci, and Ian Spacek. The judges are not required to give feedback on their decisions.

Playing in this bracket we still have…

Buurli Burri vs. Disco 86
Category: "We could take them to Her..."
If you you've got arachnophobia, you're doomed. I'm actually not one to talk, but it's SPIDER TIME!! Slightly worse than a haunted house, build us Shelob's lair!!! Or just a segment of it, or just Shelob, or whatever, as long as it fits the category!

Martin Geitstefeldt vs. Dodge
Category: The Siege of Gondor
"Whatever comes through that gate you will hold your ground!" Bring us the action!

Orthanc Bracket: As before, your judges are Michael Kringe, Max Pointner, and Aidan Moon. The judges are not required to give feedback on their decisions.

And playing in this bracket we still have…

Kyle Ransom vs. LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist
Category: The Paths of the Dead
"The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it." Aragorn, Lego(las), and Gimli travel where no man dares. An unfulfilled oath, a dead city, and a sword of kings. Come at me bro!

Matthew Oh vs. Jacob Nion
Category: Mount Doom
The climax of the quest! A volcano, nine-fingers, and the end of "the Precious". Make every brick count!

And there you have it gents, Round 4 is now in full swing. Get building!

All week I've been wondering what the build might be: Pathes of the Dead, Osgiliath, Minas Morgal. But... the Seige of Gondor! Sweet Christmas!!! "To the wall!" I go!

Good luck to my worthy opponent! This should be epic!

I am also happy to build against Burli, but the category is not that cool. It may be a little bit boring, but I will try my best.

Me too! I was kind of looking forward to it! I suppose I could still do so... we'll see.

You're not required to build an Oliphaunt, but your more than welcome to. The siege of Gondor presents quite a few options. :)
