Waiiiitttt... will there be a tiebreaker between A M and the other 35 scores? Because he had the same score, but just didn't make it because... I don't know. Just wondering.

Wait, hold on... Are these high-low brackets, or are we paired off against the guy below us? (Like say for me, would I be up against Mister Lego or Kyle Ransom)

Just kidding, that's way better than I expected. Thanks a ton to the judges for donating your time, and to Ian for organizing all this. I look forward to the categories!

Im in 10th place, and from the bottom, he is 10 up.

For example: 1st goes against the 1st on the bottom, 2nd goes against the second from the bottom 3rd from the bottom hits 3rd... ect.

It is High-Low Bracket style :D

Ah... so close, and yet so far. It was an honor competing despite the outcome and I look forward to next year! Hopefully then I'll have not only more pieces available but more time. Just out of curiosity, how was the tiebreaker done? I'm not trying to challenge your decision or something; I am aware my MOC was not very high-standard and Mister Lego and Garrett A. both deserve Round 2 without a doubt. I'm just curious is all. Thanks again for the fun! :)

Really bummed I didn't make it but congrats to everyone that did. I don't like that it's just pass/fail and that there isn't any actual input from the judges or any explanation of the scoring. I really want to know what was good and what was lacking in my build - and everyone else; because I did check every MOC ;) - because this way I have no idea what the deciding factors for judging were. Thanks again for the contest it was fun and I liked seeing all of the different MOCs. Good luck to those who passed! "It should have been mine!" - Boromir

I tried to contact Paul Vermeesch to be the tie-breaker, but I wasn't able to grab him at such short notice. Having promised to release the categories tonight, I had to take matters into my own hands. I had my dad study them and serve as a tie-breaker. You had some excellent techniques and a clever idea, but I think what pushed Mr. Lego in-front was his more Shire-like hobbit whole (plus he had some clever techniques too). It was a close call, but the judge preferred the home-like approach to your movie-set approach. For what it's worth, I personally thought your entry was fantastic, so hold your head high! I look forward to seeing what you'll bring to next year's competition. :)

We did give some basic criteria in the Round 1 thread (perhaps we can offer even more specifics next year). As I've said before, I can't give out opinions solely pertaining to each entry, I just don't have time. Sorry mate, but thanks for playing! I hope you join us again next year. :)

For some of you--you know who you are--surprised by the low score you received, I will say this: each judge took off 3 points for any missing links (the same stands for titles too). That's potentially a total of 6 points off from each judge if links/titles were still missing (for any given period) after the deadline. I know that may seem extreme, but we're not just going to let the rules be ignored. There's a penalty for not complying. And we did give you all a fair chance:

-I gave out a mercy reminders to all of you who forgot.

-It's stated plainly in the rules that the links/titles are part of the deal.

-You're not suppose to make any changes to your creation once it's in the group pool (also in the rules). We bent this one a ton for all of you, something we're not going to be doing in Round 2.

I'm sorry for anyone who fell victim to this, but yeah, pay attention to the rules next!

You think YOUR score was an epic fail... What makes things worse for me is I was following the rules, so my terrible score was because of terrible building.

Oh, I see why you're confused. You thought I meant a scene from LOTR. My fault on that. I was more refering to like a LEGO scene. If you are confused on what this means, it's like a LEGO MOC and in that photo, LEGO is just seen. An example would be mine, and Legopard's. If you are confused, then I will give you a more precise meaning.

Hey Everett,
Yeah the whole link and title deal was one of the issues that really got you. Hope you're able to get that figured out! :) Next year's MELO will most likely be around the same time as this year's. Thanks for playing!

Right now, I am still in the drawing phase, but it looks like it will come out to be about 32x32 minimum. Though, that size is subject to change.
What about yours?
