The month 5 results were mine of course and while I hope that I haven't caused anyone any hard feelings, I like to think that my comments were fair and that they helped to explain my judging. I intentionally never said that any aspect of the MOCs were simply bad, I endeavoured to explain specifically where I felt the entry was not as strong and, of course, always made a point of what I thought was really good in every case.
I apologise if any entrant feels that my comments were unfair or harsh. My intention was to inform you what formed the basis of the decisions that I made in the judging. I would like to have said more in the results but time and space were constraints.
I invite any moderator to enter a dialogue with me if you have concerns and I will happily explain to you the basis of any post you would care to bring to my attention and why I feel that nothing that I have posted is questionable.
Finally, I would like to say that as an experienced builder, I feel I have a responsibility to guide and encourage less experienced builders if and where I can to help them to improve their building. I think that contests are a good way of doing this as it allows them to see how experienced builders respond to the same challenges but the feedback they get has to be honest and useful to them because if we must leave people to develop their building skills all by themselves, we ignore the greatest benefit that this very community has to offer.
Thank you.
