Hello to all you MOCing people out there! I am in this group also on flickr, but I don't really use that site though. I am mostly active here and on DA. I can say that I'm glad to have found this group on here, and it certainly is more active than Bionicle Display! Unfortunately as far as how quickly I'm making mocs at the moment, I'm not going fast at all due to having to save for each order for my self moc revamp that I hope to complete this year. I will do my best to make it worth the wait though.

In all technicality I am actually active though, since when I get more parts I am constantly adding too him. Btw, does anyone else have a big project they are working on?

True that! 0w0 I'm not sure yet, but I might have mad his legs too long for his torso, but I don't want to make his awesome torso bigger or his epic legs shorter. Therefore I will finish him the way I planned, and see what needs to be changed after that. [If anything has to be changed it would be the torso because his limbs are just that epic. Also including pistons each joint has three connections at minimum.]

I see what you mean, although for almost all of my birthdays and the past Christmases except for the previous two I have never gotten any money.

Plus some of the parts I'm getting are quite expensive and/or rare, and most all of the sellers that I am buying from have a order total minimum of $10, so then I have to save what I need for the price of all the pieces that I will be getting and for what I'm guessing shipping will be. [Shipping can be evil.] My self moc of which almost everyone by now as far as I can see knows that I am working on has a crudload of pieces for each area of his body that I have made so far. I have only been able to build half of his torso and one whole leg and foot for him so far, because I have to wait till my next order to make more progress on him. [I lost count at 60 pieces for his foot, while his torso easily has over 140 parts and its not even finished, not to mention I haven't even done a piece count for his upper leg yet.

On top of all of this madness, once he is done I have to take apart what I happen to have built at the time just to replace the massive amount of connector parts that are the wrong color. [His torso skeleton has areas with up to four different layers by itself, btw.]

I see what you mean, although for almost all of my birthdays and the past Christmases except for the previous two I have never gotten any money.
Okay then. Yeah, I do admit that I get a few hundred each year total, encompassing Christmas and my birthday (although that money is typically in lieu of other presents, LOL).
Quoting ROBOCOP603- MASTER OF BLACK HOLES . Well my point is, why do you need to order so much more anyway? (I know you're working on your self-MOC, I'll cover that momentarily.) Like I've said, myself and many others make do with what parts we have, without ordering ginormous amounts of new parts. You, however (and there's nothing wrong with this), seem to need more and more parts to continue building. That's called Cossy Syndrome.
Quoting ROBOCOP603- MASTER OF BLACK HOLES . If that's the state of it then I think, frankly, you're investing too much into this one MOC. I know that it's a self-MOC, that's all well and good, but what I figure might be around almost fifty dollars (more, if what you said above is accurate) or so is too much to spend on any one project. The new version of Pirai uses perhaps the most PPS (parts per size; essentially, the MOC's build density) of anything I've done to date, and yet it's probably still under 550 parts. Not to say that less is always more, but I think that maybe you've set your bar too high, if not in build then in what you need to do so. If I had access to or the ability to buy whatever and however many pieces I needed, believe me when I say I would build bigger. Oh helz yes.

See what I said above. Don't build what you can't back up. Also, on a more specific level of advice, I integrate all of the armor and stuff with the skeleton in most cases, as opposed to different layers.

Ah, the Internet. Possibly the only place where you can give serious critique and advice, let alone from the position of a more experienced person, to someone three years older than you halfway across the country.

First off, in just part value alone for the bionicle I'm working on when finished would be at least $70.

I only need to buy more parts for him because I have almost none left, and because I have a very small piece inventory for a MOCer.

Plus he is almost entirely black with some translucent dark blue here and there.

I am building him to be as epic as he can be in every way possible, so that when he's done I can hopefully get the exposure I need to be known as an elite MOCer. Besides building this MOC is coming very easily to me, and I am bursting with ideas for every aspect of his design.

I don't mind the wait terribly much, and I should be getting at least $40 for Christmas. On top of that in either late January or early February I'm getting $300. But I should have it done by then if everything goes as planned.

Alright, then tell me- before you started buying all this stuff online, how much Bionicle and Technic did you already have?
Also, black is the most common color of, well, just about everything in Lego, so building an almost-all-black MOC shouldn't be too difficult, luckily.
Oh, and my self-MOC doesn't have any black pieces at all... just found that funny. XD

Well, it's good that you're inspired and motivated. But let me get this straight- you're buying up to $70 worth of parts, likely a lot more by the end of it, and you want to make it as awesome as physically possible. And you are doing this all just so that you can get noticed as a skilled MOCist? Believe me when I tell you, that's not how most of the "elite MOCists" you speak of got to where they are. Most of them (or 'most of us', depending on how you want to look at it) gradually got popular with several MOCs, or in some cases, a lot more than that.

First of all I am not only doing it to get more exposure, I was just saying that I'd like too. However even if I don't from it I'm perfectly fine with that.

Secondly if it weren't for Christmas coming up I'd be getting $15 a week in allowance, and I'd have it finished most likely sometime in November instead of possibly next year.

As far as how much a person is willing to spend on a MOC we each have our own opinions. Plus another reason why I don't mind spending so much on it is that I have almost life outside my house whatsoever. I also only have two friends in AZ irl. And I don't go to school anymore so I'm stuck here with nothing to do, because the Xbox 360 is 'temporarily' in the pawn shop.

As far as how many actual pieces being used in my MOC, Most of it is made up of smaller parts except for the armor. And I love to construct complicated builds. I sort of a get a little high from it.

Besides what can I say I have Aspergers syndrome, lolol. [It has given me a high amount of intelligence, but it took away my ability to easily make friends, among other things. Plus I have a kidney disease that almost made them fail in one night, and now I have an irregular heartbeat that we are trying to figure out the cause of.

I also forgot to mention that before mid September I hadn't been getting any allowance for at least three months! If not for that I would have finished my self moc by now and would be working on another MOC project that I have planned. [I have many that I've planned already, lol.]

I've been home schooled for the last three years of high school, and now I just need to take the G.E.D. test. Unfortunately I have to have a new I.E.P. made so I can have both more time and the ability to type up the written portion of the test. [I went through middle school in Florida and for 6-7 grade I was always failing the written part because I'd have nothing done. In the middle of 8th grade I was diagnosed with aspergers and then we tested my IQ and did other tests to get me an I.E.P. for the state test that grade. Then when I did get the results I scored a 6 out of 6 meaning I did above perfect! [Very few people ever get a 6 out of 6 for the written portion. Also only the written portion can even be graded up to a 6 everything else goes up to 5.]

{Just as a side note, the IQ test I took then was one meant for children though. Although the one I took just a few days ago was meant for adults and I not only got much farther than the past one, the person giving me the test said I got farther than almost all the people she's tested.

I'm in one of the good parts of Phoenix, but I have serious trouble remembering how to get most anywhere. When I do eventually get a car I am getting the newest Garmin GPS!

Considering the fact that the plural of moose is moose, I find this to be immensely politically incorrect. Prepare to be brutally disenfranchised.

Just kidding, I found that funny. Have you ever seen a moose in the wild? Unfortunately I haven't even though I live near a lot of them...

I know that, but it was part of the joke, lol.

Besides Flock of moosen is funnier than herd of moosen, in my opinion.

There ya go.

Hey Rav, how bout a new MOZW?

I don't think I can do one anymore - I have to save the photo and put the HTML and blah blah blah, it wastes my time. And plus, I see less and less BIONICLE MOCs coming here. So it wouldn't be as rewarding as the others. I'll continue this until 2013, but after that, I won't be doing this kind of thing anymore. :/

Hate to tell ya Chro, but I'm five eight, and can easily hit six four within the next two years XD Although, I been feeling really short lately. I go to an after school thing, and everyone there is freakin' huge. The shortest of most of them is like six two. And he's a freshmen!! XD They'd all have smashing carriers in football if they weren't all geeks.

Well, after reviewing the symptoms of malnutrition, and learning how to draw, I've decided to attempt to go to Brickworld at Fort Wayne (It's fort wayne rite?), Indiana for the 2013 year if time permits... Hopefully they'll welcome a bio-MOCCIST... rite? o-o

I don't know what to tell you auron cause I've never been to brickworld or any Lego affiliated event.

But I can say I am the second tallest person I know I'm beaten by a man who is somewhere around 7ft2.

Forgot to tell you in COT, but the whole "won't accept a dead theme" argument is invalid. There are probably almost as many MOCs for dead themes like Blactron then there are for live themes at these conventions.

What's up MOCpages? I'm back and almost would never have been if I didn't get back into shape from almost 300 pounds. Right before I had decided that enough was enough I had a minor-ish heart attack, but now I'm almost at my target weight, can cook epic tasting healthy meals, and I've eliminated soda from my diet entirely.

When my computer is fixed I will upload all the stuff the pages has missed and something new and epic that I am finishing up as I speak. If you want to go to my homepage on the site I will always use the most go to http://robocop603.deviantart.com/

On deviantart I am an admin of the BionicleMOCersLeague a.k.a. BML. On DA they are the most prestigious Bionicle MOCing group, so that's cool.

I am about to turn 18, and am currently looking for a job to get money to fuel my 50+ pre-planned epic MOCs, and to start up a costume/prop/armor making business to be able to work on my larger ambitions.

I am glad to be back, and hope to hear from anybody that wants to talk.
