Part 5:

Dunno who's director of BBC THREE but they deserve a medal!

After the brilliant 'Killer Years' and 'Madness on Wheels', 'Cobra Ferrari Wars', profiling the development of the Cobra at Le Mans, is on BBC iPlayer now - for those of us in the UK (sorry everyone else).

I didn't realise how much of the 'all American' Shelby was British. I don't mean the AC Ace the Cobra was based on, but it seems most of the race team where too.

Current (i.e stuff that's on the grid today)? Quite hard for me to choose 'cos McLaren are just down the road, and every other team apart from Torro Rosso and Ferrari are pretty local too - but probably McLaren, even if they're not always that 'likable'.

I'm more of a GT / Endurance person though!

What's yours (and anyone else reading this, who are your faves)?

Missed that but will check iPlayer later. watched the K years for the third time the other day. I'm just waiting for them to get the Senna movie.

Did you watch this?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01fcncc
Group B Rally, the most exciting motorsport ever!

F1, McLaren all the way! Shame the team is a bit of a shambles though, I don't rate Whitmarsh, need someone stronger at the helm.

Ferrari hasn't been doing well either. Alonso is doing okay I guess, but Massa is, err...doing poorly. Hopefully they will start winning races.

Hopefully not! I'd rather williams win than Ferrari, and Sauber (especially now they're sponsored by Chelsea FC, oh and Rosberg in his Mercedes, Schumacher can retire now imo let Di Resta have the set. Massa can follow Barrichello to Indy car and Perez will fill his seat. Looks like Red Bull might win again this season Grrrr

Hi guys. Thanks for the heads up about iplayer. Iíve seen Killer Years but not the others.

My favourite teams is McLaren. All gone wrong since the Alonso thing. I also like Williams. Favourite drivers: Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen (both proper racers). Button is a good lad too and a very clever driver. Can't deny that Alonso is a fine driver too.

I also like to watch Moto GP. Donít really have any favourites I just like watching the bikes

As for F1 teams, I'm a huge fan of the whole thing (except possibly Schumacher, for a variety of reasons...) but I'm always pleased to see McLaren or Williams do well. Those guys do have an anti-US bias, and NASCAR isn't all bad; it's just that most European motorsport is better. As for your cars, in amongst all the dross there's the occasional Corvette or Viper etc.

When you say destroyed, do you mean broken into 5-7 large chunks or 100+ small bits? If it's the former I'd rebuild 'em.

Just back from the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Did anyone else go this year?

I've not been for a while as the 'racing' was getting less and less, too much show-boating and gentle runs up the hill, but I got discounted tickets and VIP stuff this year so it was worth it.

A Lotus 49 stuffed it into the hay bales, but good on the driver for actually racing the car!

Yeah, the most comments go under most discussed and the ones with the most smiles go under the other one to the left. I think most discussed gets top priority since nothing ever shows up under both of 'em.

Have a bit of fun with, say, a favourite set. Do what you want; build the main model, or try to design alternates, whatever you feel like. Nothing too hard, just make it fun. Pretty soon, you'll want to challenge yourself again and out will pop another gorgeous Ferrari :-)

@ Senator. Something like a big Merc might suit your build style. Or a Bentley? Big flat panels look good with your studs out techniques.

I've decided to build something that's not a vehicle. It's a bit annoying as I have two cars to build and post, and a series part done, but it's one of the 'inspiration strikes' moments. As you can tell by my rate of posting MOCs, I don't force builds, so when an idea comes along that's a bit different I'll drop other more traditional builds to do it. Anyways, it's a similar complexity to the Fiat so it's gonna take a while...

That's nice set, but I think it's a bit too pricey. I was think something around $20. I'll just look more. Also, if one of us comments and you're not sure who, just assume it's me, LB Jr.

If you want to build a supercar or race car, maybe some type of Le Mans car in the GT class(es). Or maybe a humongous yellow 70s-80s Ferrari. A 308 perhaps? There's a 308 GTB in my neighborhood, but unfortunately I've only seen it three or so times.

I think it would be awesome if you made a convertible. Maybe a Cadillac DeVille convertible? I think a musclecar would look very good. Or a Nissan 240SX? Or the 5th generation Honda Civic? I think a Lancia Stratos Rally car or a Land Rover Defender would be great cars too! But there's loads of other car that would be good.

Do you guys think I should try to build this car (link in following comment)? I'd want to make it in black like Chris Evan's.

Ah, that's too bad. I didn't participate last year, so I signed up this year. Unfortunately I'm (very) busy now, but I hope to figure out some way to still make it happen.

Hey fellow group members, I'm finally back again! As you certainly realized I was off for a long time. Sorry for that... but I'm even more sorry for not commenting on all the stunning creations you all added meanwhile. I mean, the racers are perfect, but when I see all the support vehicles or transporters joined with them, I just cannnot believe how strong this group grew! I guess it must be the coolest group on Mocpages with the very best car enthusiasts around... Thank you so much !

However, as a glance on our new stuff reveals, I wasn't so much in classic race teams in the last time. If it's OK for you, I'd like to add my race-proven Tastarossa to the pool and as the #6 car in Ape Fight's "Scuderia Ferrari". Unfortunately I cannot guarantee I'll have the time in near future to focus on a classic racer... although, the Ferrari 330 P3 is one of my long-time favs.

OK guys, hope to read you...
Ciao, Jens

Hey there gang! Just thought I'd give you the low down of where I am at the moment with the transporter project. Back in February it looked like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brickpix/6875569155/ (nearly finished!) but now it pretty much a chassis, a cabin, 1 side and a huge pile of bricks in a box. I've just had the busiest year (what with school and what not). I had planned to get it finished by this month for display at the show with you guys but with the MOCO's coming back around so quickly I'm not gonna have any more time before then (unless of course I get knocked out in round 1 :P). I'm still going to finish the project, but it will be probably be a year after I started it! Good luck guys, I'll still be going down to the show for a look ;)

I get physics, but the argument that we're getting hit by stronger and more frequent storms is a bit... lacking? On Wikipedia the amount of hurricanes hitting America has remained steady for a nearly 200 years. Not to mention all the damage done just stems from the fact that our north-east coastline is useless against a hurricane.
