While we're in the voting phase, I thought I'd take the time to get some feedback from you all.

Take a minute or two to put in your opinion about what categories you'd like to see in next year's awards.

Feel free to repeat categories that are on the ballot this year if you like them. I'll be taking everything into consideration.

Thanks all!

how about best lego robot (real or fictional or functional): to include: mecha, transformers, giant robots, and actual robots made with Lego Mindstorms and power functions!!! ..... Robots are cool!

How about a gaming category?

After so many typical LEGOŽ themes like space, city, castle ... there should be a horror category. TLG is up to it with the minifig collector series like zombies and universal monsters. Furthermore you can find plenty of really good horror MOCs here on MOCpages around Halloween.

Most improved over the year? Starting from when the 2011 awards ends, to when 2012 is up for voting, the ones who were here on MICpages for a while, were really bad, but then improves, and starts getting likes in the 50's to 100's+ get nominated.

Hey Chris, i'm thinking this years categories were great. However, I think most people nominating didnt read the rules you posted. Maybe better distinguishment between categories?
Example:
Best Technic/Cars
Best Castle/Medieval/Fantasy
Best Space/Science fiction
Best Town/Modern Era
Best Miscellaneous/Bionicle
Best AFOL/TFOL/KFOL
Best New Person
Best MOTY

I think I covered everything??

Well, I know you poo-pooed it this year, but I will beat the drum again for Best LDD. I know it was suggested to nominate them in the current category that best fits, which I did with someone's Klingon Bird of Prey, but with so much bias against LDD, there is no way that it would ever get a fair chance, despite the skill and effort that went into it.

Best based-on-a-movie?

Best creature?

| July 11, 2011, 3:41 am
Hi everybody!

I've already asked, but now you ask for suggestions about that...
Since I'm fascinated by boats, military vessels and vehicles in general, I'm still doubting they belong to the City category... Well, ok! But, maybe we could distinguish military sea, terrestrian, or aerial vehicles, and civilian ones...
Just suggesting!
Thank you all arround!

Best vignette or small build?
I mean, a small MOC can hardly compete against a massive diorama.

I think BIonicle/Hero Factory is a good category. It has a whole directory on MOCPages, and has been very active lately.

Bionicle/Hero Factory would definantly be a good category.

I think an "Ongoing Theme" category would be great, as well as a "best sig-fig MOC" (not the siggy himself)

Ya know, if there's any aspect of Lego that I dislike, it's Bionicle. BUT, that's my own bias. As mods we (Chris and I) both see the HUGE numbers of Bionicle creations posted literally every day.

Several things mentioned here seem like they could still fit into current categories, and we have to keep the awards at a reasonable number. However, I think there might be a call for Bionicle to have its own award, given the immense volume of creations and Bionicle fans out there.

How many things get posted every day, anyway? I've always had the feeling that there's more posted than you see in the Recent page.

That one I think is going to fall under the "story" category (kinda like it did this year without us even trying). I am going to take the suggestion above however and specify a bit more for the categories titles.

So, instead of the category being "story" it'll read something like "Best story or ongoing theme." Or something to that effect. We'll get the wording worked out next year.

Nope, if it's posted on mocpages it's shown in the "recently posted" area. No hiding of posts 'round these parts.

Okay...you have drawn me out of my silence. Here is goes...How about this for a category?

Bionicle/Humanoid/Robot/Cyborg/WHATEVER
BUT.....
WITHOUT the overly violent/fantastical/ridiculous male ego junk

Personally, I think Bionicle Building is stimied(did I spell that right?). There is so much more out there to build with all those parts/pieces then what is being done now.

IT'S TIME FOR BIONICLE BUILDERS TO BUILD OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!!!

the categories were well. wishful thinking: "exact replica"! reason: "Best Town/City" or "Macroscale" is extremely difficult/unfair for real CARS (or tank, train, boat, aircraft ... CARS ;-)

I admired all of this year's categories, although I'm sure they won't all continue to next year.
-I like the idea of a mosaic category (suggested first by Andre, first comment, I think).
-Best wearable Lego item, must attach to/hang from your body only by Lego.
-A best/favorite technique (NOT Technic, TECHNIQUE) category.
-And a best movie scene recreation category (although this may be too specific).

Get them Bionicles in, Dudes. It's not the mecha that stand out in that cathegory but the really creative creatures! Speaking of wich...there were a bunch of awesome animal/ creature creations that I found hard to place in the awards. Please take vigs in consideration for next years MOCies. Is inneundo with funny? And a suggestion: Worst MOC Of The Year...just for the drama ;)

Best Replica (fictional) - this category should cover video games, movies, books, etc. into one category

Best Replica (real life) - covers military, car, skyscraper, mosaic builders, etc. into one category

I Think a small vignette catagorie would be great for next time (for those who don't have as much Lego as an AFOL). Like 8x8 or smaller.

I concur with the general idea for a vignette category. Like the others said, it evens out the playing field for those with fewer bricks but the same amount of artistic talent. I think that, as long as there is a set maximum size that defines a vignette, this would be a great category to consider.

I'd like to vote for a Bionicle-type category. I don't feel like it's too much appreciated as the other stuff.

I have to say Bionicle is a definite :)

Although it's a little distant compared to normal blocks, it's still lego in it's unique appearance. Bio-Builders are much of a separate group on the pages, but still greatly skilled builds are seen among them. I honestly feel they earn to receive something.

'Best MOC that does not fit any other category'. And I think 'Worst MOC' is totally awesome.
Oh, and do not forget: 'Best parental guidance MOC'. What? 'forbidden' you say? Dangit.
