Hi all,
Sorry things couldn't have gone any smoother. I got back last night, and have been busy since, but as promised, I have done the judging for the last contest on my first day back, and man, was it some hard judging !
We had a nice number of entries, and lots of really good ones - it was hard to pick out the best, but then, there was some quite competitive competition !
I said that due to there being so many great models, I'd pick out the top 5, instead of top 3 as in the first two contests... but even then I hard a hard time. There were some I just liked so much, but couldn't put in the winners because there were others I liked even more... so I'll at least give a special mention to a couple that didn't make the top 5.
So, here we go...
In first place, is Ape Fight's 1959 Fiat 682/RN2 Carrozzeria Bartoletti; Scuderia Ferrari Race Transporter
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/278673 (which also wins the contest for the car with the longest name lol) , which is simply mind-blowing; the details and accuracy are great, it's different yet fits in nicely. Good job !
Second place goes to MortalSwordsman for his stunning 1969 Corvette Stingray (C3)
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/271271 , which looks fabulous and is amazingly accurate - nice work indeed !
Coming in third place is Nick Barrett's
1955 Porsche 356 Speedster
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/275626 , the mechanical underpinnings, folding roof, and lovely curved bodywork are as excellent as always.
Fourth place goes out to the Bing-Bong Brothers and their 1967 Ford GT-40 WIP
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/268274 - it may have been listed as a WIP but it looked finished to me, and is a marvelous piece of detailed work.
Fifth place is awarded to Henry Shepard for his 1950 Buick Super Riviera
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/157327 , I'd have liked to give this a higher ranking, but as I said - there's nothing bad about this model at all, there were just others I liked even more - but an excellent job nonetheless, and he should be proud of having made it to the final top 5.
I must also mention two others which I hard a hard time not calling winners (even though there were many good entries - thanks everybody for participating!)
R.H.'s Volkswagen Beetle
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/266928 looks great, and it must have been quite hard getting that curvy shape in such a small scale - yet he's succeeded, and well too !
Another honorable mention is for Mattyy 666's
Lamborghini Miura SV
http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/234089 , which crams such a good interior and engine bay under such a small, but nicely detailed, and accurate body shell - nice one!
Again, thanks to all those who participated - I'll remind you that the next competition, 'Wedges and Boxes' is up and running, and ends (if things go to plan next time...) on the 1st of september:
