I like the idea of a contest, some people mentioned trucks, but I don't know if that really is something that I'd be interested in. However, I do like the idea of sports cars not yet built on MOC pages. Also, being a Ferrari fan, and to avoid being too mainstream as some people mentioned, we could do any Ferrari built before the 1980's; there's quite a few cool ones that I haven't seen on here before...
Let me know your thoughts on that

Yeah, I like that idea. So pretty much we're deciding any pre-80's Italian car? That should leave plenty of room for creativity and variety. Lego Builder, is it alright if I add you as Administrator again? You started this group so you should have some control over it I think. If everyone likes the contest idea, we can come up with some rules and criteria and make a page for it.

Okay, so preliminary rules:
1. Must be an Italian car introduced before the 1980's
2. One entry per person, if you add more, specify which is your official entry
3. Preferably a car not yet on MOC pages, or at least not common; shouldn't be too difficult, considering the category. This isn't necessarily required, but will be a factor in judging
4. Any scale accepted. I know some people don't have enough pieces to make full 16 wides or larger, so I want to make it fair, however, for judging, detail will be a factor, so probably 4 wide is going to be too small to score well
5. Build something new, not something you already have posted. I know it's not as convenient for some, but it is summer so hopefully more people are less busy, and the fun of Lego is building new things.

I don't know, I haven't made a contest before, so if anyone has any changes or other rules, that'd be helpful. Now, as far as judging criteria...

1. Car choice: If it isn't on MOC pages yet, 3 points, if there's at least five already here, 2 points, if there's at least 10, 1 point. And I guess if two people submit the same car, I wont take off points for there being more than one of them
2. Detail: Try to be as detailed as possible with your build, I always like to see a well designed interior and a detailed engine. This is out of 5 points
3. Accuracy: The more it looks like the real car the better; all the curves and angles give every car a unique "personality," try to get that to show through the build. again, out of 5 points
4. Creativity: this includes the way you use pieces, what pieces you use, how you get things to work, the style of your car. build in whatever style you prefer. No "extra" points in this category for studless building, I enjoy classic studded cars just as much as studless. The important thing is to have a distinct style and to go with it. This is out of 7 points

So as far as the weighting, that can be adjusted if necessary, I thought out of 20 points would be a good amount, enough to spread it out a bit. I'm fine with judging, and anyone else is welcome, if anyone else is interested, just let me know.

The 2003 model has a little bit of space on top of the engine, kind of like a volkswagen squareback. I'm not sure about the trunk though, sorry :(

That sounds about right, I'm sure renault would have included some space to make it more user friendly.

Good luck if you're building one R.H :) I would too, but I have a WIP atm plus I don't have enough pieces hahahaha :)

Since the 1st contest is coming to an end, I thought that we should make another contest. Maybe one that the rules aren't as strict, so maybe they'll be more entries.

Perhaps a contest on Italian supercars or something like that.

italian? can I be honost with you? I think enough people already did so many italian cars, everyone did the mucielago or the enzo here, those are very common. So there would be a lot of entries, but noone would build something new. So no lambos/ ferraris you say? Well, I already did that with my group of respected car builders contest, it was a pretty big succes (I think about 20-30 cars entered (three per person, one older allowed) so I fear that idea has already been taken ):

doing it by country IS a good idea however, just not italy

I was going to do old Italian ones (before 70s)

How about this:

2. American 40s-90s

3. British 50s-2012

4. German 10s-2012

Add more suggestions please! None of this is final until Ryan agrees.

I changed it a bit:

(August) German 10s-2012

(September) American 30s-80s

(November) British 30s-2012

And can we change the rules that is you get less points if there are other cars that are the same as the one you entered? Now, that I think about it, I don't think it's fair.

Oh man! I can't make stuff out of real Lego, because they are al put into two boxes! So that means that I have to use LDD to add entries to contests! Building with my real Lego is a huge problem, because it's really hard to find pieces that I need, because if I have a model built, like a 4-wide Pagani Zonda Cinque and I'm trying to make a 4-wide Maserati MC12 and I can't find a piece that I'm looking for, like an 90-degree angle piece with three studs, then I have to take the model apart with the piece that I'm looking for, then that model is screwed. This did happen before a couple of months ago. Exactly the same cars too. So could I please add LDD creations for future contests please??
