Starting Cherrygrove and a full Pokemon center.

Im making the route that connects Cherrygrove and New Bark. I have already made New Bark. Is it possible that our models are interlockable?

Hey, thanks for the invite! Should I be downloading LDD so we can collaborate on this, or should I just keep working on real-brick stuff?

You don't have to, but it is fine if you do. It would just be cool if they were interlockable. LDD has infinite parts, and these can require a lot of parts.

So if you want to contribute to one big model of the Johto (and possibly Kanto) region(s), then yes, download it

If you want to just build places, then no

I think I'll probably do a combination of the two. So we're working on Jhoto right?

I have build New Bark Town, and am working on route whatever that connects New Bark and Cherrygrove. Matthew is working on Cherrygrove. I don't know if they are going to interlock, but they should as we are using the same scale.

So yes, we are currently doing Johto, but you could do any region you want. I, however, cannot do Hoenn. If you want to make the next piece of Johto, then do Violet City or the route that connects it to Cherrygrove.

I had an idea. Since all the major buildings are pretty uniform (marts, houses, etc.), why don't we build at minifig scale and just copy those kinds of buildings over to the new towns? We would have to use a 3 or 4 wide square for the scale instead of a 2x2 to fix the height issue that Leon explained, but it should turn out with much better detail, I think.

Yes, that would be smart. Would you like to build those, Cody?

Wait, which height issue are we talking about?

This time I decided not to do minifigures. Right after I build the first house, which was the one in the southwest part of town, I realized that I would have to choose from making the houses way too tall or not having minifigures. Though it uses the same scale as I previously used, 2x2 spuare equals 1 step, this time it is microscale.

This height issue. The houses and such would be disproportionate if one step in the game translated to 2 studs in Lego. The solution is that we widen the step width to 3 or 4 studs, and the houses become the proper height.

I could work on them, sure. Another thing we should do is make uniform furniture and such. In the Pokemarts, all the shelves look identical, for example. We should make our official "shelf unit" that will be present in every mart as well as the other places that the same shelf looking thing shows up in the game. We need to do this for bookshelves, slot machines, tables, beds, PCs, etc. This will help out a ton when we do the interiors.

On another note, the train station in Goldenrod would have tracks that show up somewhere else between Mt. Silver and New Bark Town. Any ideas about that?

I don't know. All I do know is that I've got GBA sounds on and I'm building Cherrygrove, right now in microscale, and one in full scale.

I used a scale of 1 step = 2 studs squared. If there is a better scale, though, I'd be willing to redo New Bark Town.

Valid point, but then wouldn't the minifigures not be to scale with the steps?

Not width-wise, but they'd be fine with height. I think that the best scale would be a 3x3 stud square, but that would also be one of the more difficult to make just because of the odd number.

You would either have to redo the pokemon league and poke mart or redo new bark town. You can't have two different scales... can you?

Ok, since we are making a model of a WHOLE REGION, I have decided that by using the scale a 1 step = 2 studs squared, IT IS ALREADY LOOKING PRETTY BIG. I say, with my dictatorial powers, that we use that scale. Cody, that means that your Pokemon Centers would have to be 10 x 8 studs. Pokemarts will be 8 x 8, plus a seperate 2 x 2 sign. Gyms will be 10 x 14. All other buildings, we should make as we go.

Oh, and Sir Killsalot Stick Night of the Stick Table or whatever, all my models other than New Bark Town will not show up in the model. And, to your surprise, I did use the same scale. It is just that the interiors of buildings in Pokemon are greatly larger than the exteriors.

Sort of, the games are in Microscale. The buildings are smaller on the outside then inside.

Good point. This would have been a lot easier if there weren't so many paradoxes in the game. I still think it would be cool to have minifig scale interiors as well, but then the whole thing would be gigantic. Maybe once we're all AFOLs with nothing better to do besides get ready for brickworld. lol

Haha. Yeah, it would require a lot of planning. I think if we stick with the scale of Leon's New Bark Town we should be good. About the cliffs, it seems that in game they are just random pieces of earth sticking up.

The creators of pokemon really should have thought about this paradox thing. Either that or they just decided to let us do the hard part.

Well, Pokemon was not designed to be built from LEGO. Haha, what if there was a LEGO Pokemon video game?

Mathew, I need to know where the east end of your model is going to be. What I'd recommend is to end it at the last step before the game says your in route 29. Oh, and what is your source of data?

Hi everyone, just joining the group, I was thinking about doing the whirl islands, as that is my favorite area to hang out in the game.

Also, for a personal Pokemon project, could you all help me with a design. I have been trying to make Poochyena for a while, but I.... can't.
If anyone wants to take a go at him, I would very much appreciate it.

Normally I don't do Pokemon past generation 2, but I could probably give him a go. Try looking at my Houndoom for inspiration, as they are somewhat similar. http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=231882&id=/user_images/28456/1287428008m

Well, I was not expecting the fifth generation to be that good, But it turned out to be better than I expected. It is quite a bit better than generation 3. Well, I am not a fan of the third generation (excluding the gamecube games). I have not played Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver/Crystal, so I don't know how those compare, and I am not sure what I think about how it compares to generation 4 (I like Heartgold/Soulsilver and Platinum, but not Diamond and Pearl...)

The thing about Gold version, despite how fun it's been, is that there isn't anyone to battle besides the elite four anymore. The features (besides the acro bike, that's awesome) in emerald version were okay, but not very necessary in my opinion. The secret bases are cool, but only because you could battle with people who you linked with. What I want is a Pokemon game that is fun, even after you've played over a hundred hours, without having to re-start.

Well, besides Diamond and Pearl, I really liked the forth generation. I am not far into Black version, but so far even the things that are boring in gen.4 (such as training) are fun.
