So I posted a WIP of an element of one of my upcoming entries and someone pointed out it was a bit like a WIP I posted sometime last year.

Here are the WIPpics in question (pictures are on flickr and I know not all of you can readily access flickr, or whatever, so if one (or however many) judge/s can't make a call for you all, I could post them here to MP):
current - http://www.flickr.com/photos/51824835@N03/5526780353/
old - http://www.flickr.com/photos/51824835@N03/5526947349

I think they are sufficiently different in design and scale, but others might not. Prolly making a fuss outta nothin' I just didn't wanna take a DQ.

I say that's fine. It's perfectly OK to use old ideas as long as the build itself is new (which this one is). Also, it's not a direct copy so there's no doubt that it's not just using the old one for this post. Your new design is fine for this. Can't wait to see what you're using it for. Good luck!

The judges do not score your entry until you post it in this group. Unfortunately, you have posted without the link. And you will receive a zero in that category whether you leave it in or not. The zero score is a reflection of a rule infraction, not the MOC. I suggest you leave it in for fellow contestants to rate and comment. There is still time to make up points.

Those are both questions that pertain to the "artistic" side of the games (how much of the song to make and how to make something in the moc) and I am not allowed to answer either. Talk to your team and they'll help you out.

No, that's why we STRONGLY suggest getting feedback before adding it to the group. Also, it's against the rules to edit a moc after it's been added to the group so technically, that's another rules infraction. You'll still only be receiving the one 0 for the post though. Sorry dude.

Yippee..... Well, I suppose I am off to spend another weekend on a moc, only to have it missing something and my score lowered drastically. I don't mean to seem nagging, but why is it that way?(I'm sorry if I am wasting your time) Why can't we fix a problem with our moc after one of the judges scores it?

Did you seriously just ask that? Look at ANY contest in the world. Is ANYONE in ANY contest allowed to enter the contest, get judged by one of the judges, then go back and make changes to (whatever it was they were competing in) and come back and try again?

The rules are in place to show that you pay attention and are able to follow simple, basic instructions. Like I told you on my comment, had you simply followed directions you would have gotten a 3 from me. Now then, you've learned your lesson and hopefully your next moc will have the basic requirements to be scored.

And another thing... You see there's 237 mocs so far in this contest right? We don't have time to go back and look at each moc four or five times to see if someone was able to fix something that should have been done right the first time.

Still can't believe you asked that...

G'day esteemed judges. May you live long and prosper, and please forgive such an insignificant pustule of peasantry for impeaching upon the majesty of your collective audience, but I have an question...

I built a mOc recently intended for the sci-fi concept category - The Lion-Heart GAIA.

I was informed by my group that another had already buzzed that category, so although I had added it to the Left Overs group, I never added it to the Mocathalon group, nor the mandataory links. As far as I know, anything I build this month, is OK to add to the Mocathalon if it happens to suit, but I thought it would be polite to ask, rather than feel awkward if I just went ahead and added it when such an action was infact below par for the course.

Cheers guys!

If I follow you Parrington, you want to know if anything you build in March can be submitted to the contest as long as it fits. The answer is yes, just follow the standard posting rules for the games.

hey guys, I just had a quick question about 27. E = mc˛. can we make it have more than 2 topics or themes? I know its probably no, but I just wanted to see.

The category description specifically said to pick from two themes. Therefore two themes only. Unless, of course, the other judges say otherwise.

It's not a question of a team accepting you, it's that the games have already started and no one is allowed to join in after the games have already begun. My next "big" contest will be the MocOlympics and the signups for that should start in late August or so. Good luck.

My question is can I change an entry so long as I haven't already posted it here as an official entry? Here's the situation. Parrington and I both built an entry for category #4 but his was posted and scored first. What I would like to do is take the builds from mine and use them for "Category #16: Lost n space" instead. Naturally I will need to add different pictures and change the description to make it fit but I wanted to be sure I had the judges permission first.
Hopefully this can be answered ASAP so I can get this done before the deadline (even though I know my team doesn't stand a chance of winning at this point. I simply want to say I gave it my best and can hold my head up high).

I'm not sure if you guys have a system for judging stuff, it appears that since I've been pro-active in my building for the MOCathalon that some of my earlier creations haven't been judged while some of the newer ones have.
Any ideas on this?
Here is an example, posted on the twenty-eighth.

Posted on the 21st you mean. I don't know exactly which method all the other judges use but one thing I do know is that we only judge mocs that are in this group, we don't look on your homepage at all (waaaay too many players for us to keep track that way). As far as I can tell, the only one who missed it so far is Bones. He's a little behind in his judging but rest assured, he'll get to it.

Also, at the end of the games (a day or two after, not 4 minutes after) we're going to have a thread where if one of your creations hasn't been judged, you can alert us there. Every creation will be judged by all the judges so don't worry, we'll get there.

(the next part is sarcasm...)
And really, there's only 399 creations so far. It's not like we have anything else to do... hehehe

Hang in there dude, everyone will be taken care of.

Okay, thanks Chris!

Yeah, he probably just missed it. With this many mocs I'm surprised we all (the judges) haven't missed more than we have.

If he doesn't get to it just let us know when we open the "my moc didn't get scored" thread.

Alright, dinner time. Later all!

For the category E=MC^2: can I use a custom made cape? It's like a LEGO Fig Cape, but it's a tad different.

Go look at the category descriptions. If the category states that "no non Lego products" or something along those lines (no brickarms and so on) can be used, then no. If it doesn't state that in the category description, then you're good to use it.

I judged that right after Chris and gave it a 4. Now, I wonder where my comment went? I will judge it again.

The deadline is March 30, so you'll get some time to upload.

He's right. Even though there are 31 days in March the games are ONLY 30 days (that way it can be played in any month or even split between two different months, depending on timing). By my count you all have about... (carry the one... subtract Heath's drinking time... add that back in cause it's TOO much...) 33 and a half hours till the end. Good luck!

In the STANDINGS topic, how come some teams have completed over 30 categories, even though there are only 30?

If a team has built all the 30 categories, they can then build all the categories again if they want.

In the STANDINGS topic, how come some teams have completed over 30 categories, even though there are only 30?

As stated in the Rules:

"Players do not need to build in every category, but the entire team must build in all 30 categories before you can build in a category a second time. You can speed ahead as much as you like. But, your team may not duplicate any of the 30 categories UNTIL all 30 have been covered.

ANY INDIVIDUAL BUILDER MAY ONLY BUILD IN ANY GIVEN CATEGORY ONCE. It does not matter what cycle that the team is in."

There's an example it the Rules thread:

Oh, I don't think we will get to that stage, unless Brendan bursts out with a 41 MOC posting session this evening :)

I was wondering if I could do the signature of a painter for 'Old Master', if it is a painting in and of itself?

Here's a link to the specific, painted signature: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Podpis_had_cranach_starsi.jpg
