Congratulations guys, we made it 100!

When I started this group on January 21st 2011, I was just casually making it to invite some friends of mine. When some of my friends joined, I invited a few more people at a time. With a lot of people joining, and our first contest (Do you guys remeber that!?) we became somewhat "popular". Over time, we also became quite chatty, we've raked in over 41,000 comments so far, and are second only to the TFOLPC. While we've lost some good members, we've also gained more mature, fun, and active ones. We've got an awesome group of guys here, I'm proud that we have lasted so long.

This group was also influenced by Flare's group, the TFOL Private Club. I think we have had somewhat of a unfriendly competition in the past, but I hope we can just live together in peace from now on ;) The other staff and him run a great group.

Here's to Convo #200 :D

They made a list about how much better they were than we are. Pride is bad when stuff like that happens. I just like messing a round and since I was never invited, I like this place more. Another few months and the group will be three years old! :D

They also made a list about why zombies will never be real. And why Flare will die very soon.

Yeah, it sounds like they were being very serious about that list :P

(actually, IIRC, Deus was trying to argue that zombies can be real...)

Really disappointed by the "no overhang" rule in the 4x4 contest, it makes posing minifigures (which, given the category Superheroes, is pretty important) nearly impossible....

Well, if zombies could exsist, Americans would make the best ones. We eat so many growth hormones over here, we take longer to dacay after we die. We'd have more muscle and bone density meaning more efficient zombies. Of course, that would snck for us in America, but at least our zombies would be the best in the world.

I am very disappointed. Although it doesn't affect my category as much, it still restrains quite a bit of potential detail.

Just spent over an hour yesterday taking apart a few MOCs.
That monster in my round 2 entry for the 4x4 contest made me dismember a lot of minifigures...

Yup. I can't picture this. I mean, "battle of the minds" . . . I will have minifigs, but like you said, posing's going to be tough. Extra details that make the build better are going to be hard to include, and if I try to pack too much into a small space, it'll look too crowded. This is going to be hard.

Yeah, and having multiple minifigures that aren't on top of each other (which luckily I can do wih my build) is basically impossible. I'd recommend perhaps doing some landscaping and such, considering that three of the judges are castle builders :P

Yeah, sounds good. So far I think the judges have done a good job on being objective rather than subjective, but it's always good to build what they like.

Meh. I'm not a fan of people using that technique (plus a minifigure is taller than four studs, so due to the no overhang rule it wouldn't work this round.)

Wow, that'll be interesting to see how he judges.

I know right? I asked to see if someone else could judge in my place for Halhi vs. Andrew the Jedi Ninja. Not that I would judge unfairly, but just for other people watching.

I don't look at what the other judges score people until after I judge (for the 2nd round I posted my judging results first and then the others judged)
On the 1st round, I scored my brother lower than two of the other judges (the third judge scored his lower than I did), and on the 2nd round, I scored him lower than the other two judges.

Well, the MO round of using only 2 kinds of pieces is quite difficult. With that in mind I believe that with a 4x4 MOC, you can still pack in a bunch of details - yes it will be hard, but then again it will really stretch your abilities and the abilities of everyone building. This round will hopefully bring out the best of the builders showing that they really want to go to the next round by building something awesome on such a narrow building field.

The problem is the "no minifigure parts overhanging". Means that you can't really pose the figures. I'm fine with the "no normal pieces overhanging".

I wonder if Caleb got the idea from when I said (after I judged round 2) "I don't know how strict it will be in the later rounds..."

We'll see what Caleb decides for future rounds.

Yeah, maybe we could suggest that the no overhang rule applies to the figless build...

At least I managed to convince him that his original idea for proof of no overhang (a picture from above) wouldn't work :P

Well, somewhat in their defense, that was back when you also had a clone trooper as your icon. Someone named commander and then also a clone as heir icon, most of those kids are really annoying. We don't judge, but you know, still not right without letting you join for just a name.

Well, when they had the "Little bit of overhang is ok" Rule, People built these HUGE things just balanced on 4x4. It's like us kids: There are a few Spazmotic idiots, and thus we are all judged as such. Really unfair, but it happens. Some people abuse the law, and every body pays for it. :I

*awkwardly shuffles in* h-hey everyone...

I know what you mean, but I got really tired of everyone complaining that people had too much overhang, and people saying that it was loosing it's essence of being a 4x4 contest. The new rule has officially stopped those complaints (which is really nice). Although I know it is really difficult, think of it as a challenge. After all, everyone has the same rules!

Well, it's been built for awhile, but I made a 1940's drop bomb thingy. I haven't taken pictures yet because I'm not sure how and also timing was all wrong. People built these HUGE things just balanced on 4x4.

A bit hyperbolic, but I see your point ;)

Also, I don't know if I made this clear in the contest group, but this rule is a round 3 only. I will try to make the rules for round 4 better.

While we are at it, what do you think could improve about the rules so round 4 can be at it's maximum potential?

Make the no overhang rule not apply to minifigures.

Allow tiny amounts of overhang (half the thickness of a tile, for instance.)

It's getting late here soon, I may be going to bed. I've been up till midnight the last few days doing homework and then I woke up at 4 this morning. Freaking Time Change! After this the U.S. Government needs to decide to not do this stuff anymore. It no longer benefits farmers all too much and it certainly doesn't save money because we just burn it all in the fall with that extra hour. The Sun is supposed to Rise at 6 and Set at 6. Can't we just do what the Ruskies do for once?

I could only see it being a ghost image when Korra goes into the Avatar State like when Aang suddenly turned into Kioshi when he was on trial, and even then, I'd see that being in next weeks episodes because there should be two more after these two for another hour-long episode.

So yeah, these last few episodes are what Avatar is all about. To sum it up, Sh[CENSORED] got real.

Next week is going to be awesome. Final Battle stuff and just pure awesomeness. Now I wonder what next Season will be about if we have one. I know episodes have been bought, but it's still entirely possible to cut the deals that have already been made. I'd hate that though and I am really curious what the next Season would be. I'd love to see another Equalist Revolution with an extra twist like Amon removing bending abilities or perhaps even having him return.

Well, I just wrote a nice good comment that took too long to type and I forgot that I got shut out. Personally, I think it's not a good idea becausse out of all that is in the Universe of Avatar, only 15 sets would be made. Close to the same amount has been made with single films.

SPOILERS TO ALL WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE SEASON 2 FINALE!

Season's 3 and 4 still seem to be in production so that's good. Rumors suggest that they will be 1 arc, but I still think they'll go with the single stories idea. Another rumor, more like theory, suggest that Korra will need to find a way to connect to the past lives, although I see this as pretty out there since this Raava knows nothing of the other Raava, she was reborn, not the same one.

As for unanswered stuff, I found nothing too serious except for one thing. Varrick is just a guy that broke out of jail and will be caught again, and Unalaq is vaporized, although I think a dead body would have been cool. Vaatu is still out there, just somewhere in the spirit world, destined to return, I mean he's not trapped again, is he?

The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that Korra used airbending after Raava was split from her. She should only be able to waterbend because she was naturally born that way and it was later restored by Aang (which still bothers me because that seems impossible, even for a past life of the Avatar.) but you can clearly see her airbend up with Tenzin to the tree, with no assistance. Raava Prime learned to hold the element that was naturally born of the current Avatar so it makes sense that she knows all four elements, but with her destroyed Korra, although knowing the moves should not be able to bend any element that was not hers to begin with, only leaving water. Amon took all or Raava's elements except for Air because it had not been unlocked and Korra's waterbending. When all of that happened, Raava allowed Korra to use airbending because that was the only thing left to use, but when the elements were restored (Again how? A spirit of a past life cannot do that in my opinion, the logic is all off.) Raava's and Korra's abilities returned.

That being said, this new Raava now must learn the elements because if she knows them but not the past lives, I'll be disappointed in the writers, it's kind of like a copout like what Book One felt like with the restoration of bending abilities. If anything, the next Season may be about learning the elements by finding the Lion Turtles and someone getting in the way be hunting the Lion Turtles. They must still be around if Aang found one, and if we take the image of the world when Harmonic Convergence occured, there is an entire ocean that is half of the planet wide where these guys are hiding out.

I actually quite liked the design of the Elf Army, though maybe mostly because of the colors (and I actually do need the figs in that one, since I have no elves). Lake town colors are too bland I think. Maybe because I don't need any more brown wood bricks :P (I have 30ish 6x6 panels, 100 1x4, and 150+ 1x2 bricks...)

Anywho, anymore, loads of people complain about the sets. I think they are just used to people building awesome mocs with piece counts that would make it a UCS set.

Like I said to Thomas, I just need sets. Now if the set has good pieces and 'figs, that's always a bonus, but I can get specific pieces off of Bricklink, so I really just need good sets.

I spent all day rebuilding a Star Wars set to look for broken or missing pieces. Nothing wrong. That's why I was innactive Monday because I wanted something to do while I was waiting. Jolly Good Day since I didn't have to go it. :D

I tend to listen to older music stations and 101.1 WJRR, The Rock Station
lml(-_-)
Songs never get old or are forgotten on those stations. Pop music is just not my thing.

I listen to 103.3 and 96.3.

Ya, you try out for the academy and then you play for around the whole year. I'll be going to Ireland with them next year. And the academy is connected with a professional club, Everton.

Cool beans.

Finally, I get to keep sitting around my house doing nothing. Seriously, I have nothing to do and nowhere to go. No car, and there is construction everywhere around where I live so walking is somewhat dangerous.

I don't have friends close enough, or I don't have contact information. And besides, do you know how annoying that would be to someone. "Hey, can you come pick me up and take me to wherever?" No, I'm not doing that.

As for getting mugged, yes, but a 5000 pound yellow monster with giant wheels.

I know right? I was really tempted to go look up what happens in the book, but then the movie wouldn't be as much fun. (maybe they're making the movie different from the book but I haven't read it in years so IDK)

You should go to eBay and buy a 1999 Gungan Sub NISB for $88.00 with free shipping. Help me get the extra little bit of moneys I need for an Ewok Village.

Man, It's been so long...

Sorry I haven't been active lately, I've been on Christmas vacation, and my family came down, so I was booked, and then I went down to Tucson, Arizona, where I had no computer access, or iPod internet access, so, I just got back from a marriage, a visit to a care center, lots of fun with my family, and around 25 hours in a car.

But, I'm back.

I haven't seen many of these multi part movies of one book or series of books before. I saw Catching Fire and we get Katnis with the weirdest revenge grimace ever. As if I care about these characters anyway, I just saw it because my dad was willing to pay and I saw the first one. Now I'll probably see the next one because I'm curious how it ends. Seriously, Lord of the Rings had solid endings with no big, I need to know what happens next becuase the endings were pretty calm but this one was straight action and cut to black, it was awesome.

I personally didn't really like Mockingjay (the book) as much as the other two Hunger Games books. Hopefully the movies (two parts) are better.

I don't like that. Seriously, if you are going to make a series of movies based on a series of books, don't overdo it, don't milk it, or do the opposite and make Peter Jackson length films or break all the books into parts or also do what Peter Jackson did and make special editions for DVD releases so that those die hard fans can buy those. Seriously, how much happans that it needs to be split up. In a sense, Harry Potter can win an exception because those books are flippin' huge, but I've seen the size of these other books and they are not that large. The Hobbit is lucky to have a guy who really enjoys the world of Middle Earth and knows how to keep the spirit and get a thumbs up from those who read the book for including stuff that was never there but only implied. Part of me just wants to pitch my idea for the Avatar series I mentioned in my mega comment in Convo 97 or 98. Lets make 9 of those flipping movies and actually do it right!
