Still, I find annoying that he's spamming me.

I think I might make a "Welcome to MOCpages" MOC. Just a basic "how to act and what to expect" thing. So new people aren't totally clueless.

I've spent many hours leafing through the catalogs, it's fun seeing what pieces sets come with. Then I compare minifigs, bricks to dollar ratio, minifigs to bricks to dollars ratio, etc. I might have too much time on my hands...

Same here. Mostly I just rated without commenting, I usually didn't have much to say. It's funny, because now I've started leaving more in depth comments and it's helped me recognize the skill that goes into the MOCs. Before I would see something as cool, but now I know why it's cool. It's like building LEGO, the more you build the better you get, with comments the longer you comment the more you notice.

Personnally I think information with examples is the way to go, like in Dylan B's How to Make a Popular MOC. However, if you think a story would really help, do it. I'm sure whatever you do it will be excellent.

I attend public school and take classes for the grade above mine. I'm enrolled in 8th grade but take 9th grade math and science (those are the only classes you can do that in), plus an AP English class. I'd like to take some 10th grade stuff but I'd have to skip a grade so that isn't gonna happen. My family has considered homeschooling, I don't know how seriously for sure, though.

Yeah I think most of kids on MOCpages are home-schooled. They have so much time on their hands.

That is combined with the fact that at a public (or private, for that matter) school kids will tell you that Legos are childish and whatnot. I haven't really broadcasted that this is a hobby of mine, though in 7th grade I built some stuff for a project out of my treasured ABS and it seemed to be well accepted by the neanderthals that are public school students. They seemed very impressed. I've posted both of the things I built for school on here, one is my Medieval Bridge and the other was Castle Fedwik (I think). Neither of those are close to my best MOCs.

Spamming, grammar (especially commas and capitals), spelling, I've found that exclamation marks are far over-used (I myself am trying to cut back on that front), maybe have something about that. If this is for people new to the site you could have links to some prominent builders like Kelso, Phipson, Kenney - the people who define MOCpages. You could also have links to Blake Baer's glossary and Dylan B's HtMaPM. A quick thing with general advice on what makes a good MOC, general terms like SNOT, and stuff like that would be good too. Hope this helped!

Nah, I think it would be better to keep it in one place. Just an easy to reference guide, y'know?

Yea I guess it would confuse people. But the two points you HAVE to cover are spamming and bad grammar!

Yes it will!

Did you know my starfighter is built on Plo K o o n's starfighter's frame? I was lazy and didn't want to make it custom. Was yours 100% custom?

Exactly! Maybe I'll make a group and invite some of the bigwigs and veterens to give their two cents.

I think you really need Mr. Phipson to put in a quote. I think he is really good at this kind of stuff.

Iiii knooooow :3

Still, I find annoying that he's spamming me.

I think I might make a "Welcome to MOCpages" MOC. Just a basic "how to act and what to expect" thing. So new people aren't totally clueless.
What do you guys think about that?

Good idea.

Out of curiosity (you could say nosiness) who are you talking about?

Yes...to both questions. I get more criticism about being a home-shooler than I do about being a Lego builder. People think home-schoolers get away with a lot of stuff but to tell the truth...that is not the case at my house.

If you do do a hardsuit make sure it's not all grey. A different colour as trim or highlights
would improve it immesurably, if you do it right.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist If this is for people new to the site you could have links to some prominent builders like Kelso, Phipson, Kenney - the people who define MOCpages.

Like those guys need more new kids to go crazy on their pages. They aren't even those that define MOCpages. MOCpages is defined by everyone on MOCpages. The TFOLs are just as important as the AFOLs. Besides, TFOLs need more exposure. The people you named help maintain the site, not define it.

Same here. But you could PRETEND that you still feel bad the next morning (not that I'd do that). That is only as a last resort. For instance, you have a massive project due that isn't complete, or several regular assignments. Then it is entirely acceptable to lie about sickness and stay home.

Look, I have a great deal of respect for many TFOLs, and several YFOLs. However, if you know about many of the prominent AFOLs, MOCpages is much funner. You laugh your um... behind...off when you read things like Han Dendauw's latest post, and you can amuse yourself by smacking Phipson. Also, their builds are just amazing. Not that TFOLs can't build amazing, but no one builds like Kelso, or Kenney. New MOCcers learn not only building techniques, but presentation and humour from AFOLs. While TFOLs sometimes build awesome builds with brilliant humour, they are few and far between. That's just my opinion.
