Carbon dating is based on the decaying, but the decaying is irregular. Sometimes something will decay faster than other times, maybe due to weather/habiat changes, thus giving an older result.

I'm pretty sure my comment clearified what it is I believe. I said it was a MYTH. But you never know when God decides to pull the plug, and that could be before December 21st 2012. I believe if anything were to happen, it wouldn't be very fortunate for a lot of people, but I really don't think anything will happen on December 21st.

very good point. you can't get it all right all the time... but you CAN have a go at it... it also depends on were you are. eg: in America, colour is spelt "color", and over here in New Zealand, it's spelt "colour"...

Whe you live has nothing to do with it, both versions would be in the dictionary. They are both correct spellings. Its more like spelling water as whater. (For a while I couldn't stop myself from throwing an h in there. I knew it was wrong, but I felt like it had to be there. I don't know why.)

We need to keep in mind that there has been hundreds of end of the world 'predictions' and none of which have been correct. Unless we are now living in some kind of alternative reality or afterlife thing. So in my opinion, the world will not end next year.

A friend of mine sent this out:

1 Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $35,000 company profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 2 million people worldwide (1.4 million in US), is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx. 3,900 stores in the USA of which 2,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 97% of all Americans live within 25 miles of a Wal-Mart.

13. Wal-Mart has gross sales that total more than the total revenue of all the countries in the world, except 6.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground-work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy. Our politicians must think simple math, balanced budgets, and don't bankrupt the nation or destroy our future is 'above their pay grade'. They should be shown the door and hire WALMART to run the government.

(why I reckon Usain Bolt is the fastest in the world)- only half of it is that he's fast- the other half is he has no hair. he's more streamlined than the other racers...

Did you guys know that there might actually still be dinosaurs alive? People say they live in the really deep parts of the ocean. And some people in New Zealand or Japan (I forget) Cought the remains of one that had obbesly been alive 2 months before they Cought it. Anyway pretty cool right?

New Zealand? that sounds familiar. I think there is still a few dinosaurs alive, in remote parts of Africa and such. The only largely uninhabited areas here in NZ are in the south island, but they still aren't anything to compare with large countries.

Also there is no Dinosaurs in the water, the creatures living in the water during dino times were not dinos, same goes for the flying reptiles.

Really why are they not considered dinosours?

I read in this book, at first I thought they were dinos too but then I read it and it said that dinosaurs only lived on land. I lost the book somewhere in my house so I cant remember what scientists called the creatures living in the water. And air!

Huh that's pretty intresting... what amazes me the most about dinosaurs is there size like seriously the size of them is massive. I'm surprised no one has spotted any yet (that are living)

That was the long answer so heres the short one:

All dinos had to strong legs, arms, a head, and a tail and were reptiles. The other animals (Living in the water and air) did not meet these requirement to b called dinos. Also if you ask about the other creatures living on land then they were either mammals, birds, or reptiles that had four legs.

Yeah but wouldnt the ones that were turkey or cat sized not be counted as a Dinosour because I thought (and I may be wrong) Dinosour means "Terrable Lizard" and I'm not sure if there is anything terrible about the cat /turkey sized ones.

Ok, this is what my dad told me:

When Noah was alive and God told him he was going to flood the earth the dinosaurs were still alive, but after the flood was over all of the dinosaurs died because the atmosphere changed. So the dinos were alive before Noah. Maybe God didnt want the dinos to live anymore but they were alive.

Thats possible, but if the dinos died why not the other animals? I think it's possible that dinosaurs are still around.

dinosaurs might be big, but the earth is big too. (compared to dinosaurs - not compared to other planets) example; in africa, natives have reported sightings of dinosaurs in a swamp, this swamp is 80% unexplored!

Sir Richard Owen coined the word dinosaur, meaning "fearfully great lizard," in 1842. In Greek, deinos means "fearfully great" and sauros means "lizard." ( yes, I googled, then copied and pasted that)

I think God must have had a reason to put dinosaurs in the ark if he knew they would die why would he tell Noah to put them on the ark in the first place? (Just a thought I had)

You would think someone would have flown over that area in a helicopter or something, I wonder what us humans would really do if we found a dinosaur...

Okay, I want in on this Dinosaur conversation. Dinosaurs and Lizards are extremely close. Maybe the adapted and shrunk in time. Komodos are pretty big. Some Lizards have horns like Triceratops. The proof of the possibility of them shrinking is that human skeletons have been found and were around 11 feet tall! After the Firmiment (or however you say/spell that) , or the big ice thing surrounding the earth through orbit and the thing that only let the good rays of light from the sun in and don't say I'm crazy, it is in the Bible, had melted due to God's command and starting the flood and where the rain came from, then all the atmosphere changed and people and animals began to shrink in size. Dinosaurs have been spotted in the swamps in Africa and were said to be about 20 feet tall rather than 60. They've remained hidden due to all the trees and other obsticles and animals that keep people and thier technology away. It is extremely possible that many large lizards are decendants of the dinosaurs. All this is from some video I had to watch in Theology at my old school about the differences of Creation and Evolution and how things are being and have been proven. For example. If evolution was true with all it's big bang and volcanic planets, when Earth started to form and rotate and become suitable for life, it would be rotating so fast that the dinosaurs would have been thrown off because not even Earth's gravity would be able to keep a strong enough grip.

Hey guys, I'm back!
This dinosaur convorsation is getting interesting. I think that maybe there could be dinosaurs in existance, but probably alot smaller, since back then there was alot more oxygen in the air and they could grow bigger...

I forgot to mention the oxygen. That is a big part of it. That's why the human skeleton was 11 feet tall.

Being both vicious and curious beings, we humans would capture them, possibly conduct horrendous tests on them, and put them on display.

I'm not saying that I agree with evolution, but that statement makes no sense (unless the Earth was REALLY different back then). After all, there are things much bigger than dinosaurs on Earth today and obviously they aren't being thrown off the earth.

Wow I know so much about dinos.

I used to know a TON about dinosaurs (until I was about eight) and I used to amaze people with how knowledgeadle I was on the subject. Then, my interests shifted to medieval history, and I forgot most of it.

I dont think he put them in the ark though.

If they were still alive, He did. The bible says that Noah put two of every animal on the Ark. So, that would incude every different dinosaur species. I wonder how all the animals could've fit...

I reckon God knew they might kill us, so didn't put them in the ark....

correct. they would also be put in a cage far too small, have people gape at them, and die far earlier than usual. (if they had lasted that long)
