I don't think it's a technique, but more of just a phase, but lately I've been making custom figures like Clones, and an upcoming thing involving the Fetts.

This isn't really a technique, but who here is purist? I'm not, sometimes you CAN get cool pieces from non purism.....

I used to draw on tape and put them on clones for decals but now i just stick to the stickers Lego provides. So you could say that im a purist.

I'm purist. Although I've considered doing some things in a nonpurist way. My building style is like that of LEGO's for sets, so I usually don't use hands or arms detached from minifigures, I don't usually make illegal connections of pieces, and I don't use brickarms/forge or other custom pieces.

i agree i usually don't use hands ether or hands or legs..i like to keep my minifigs together or buy of brick arms or forge and i rally use SNOT because i don't usually have enough flat pieces but if anyone would like to tell me a way to make SNOT with out flat tiles then i am all ears

Moving pieces. I never made anything (that I'm gonna put on MOCpages) that didn't have atleast one moving piece. Balljoints rock! About purism, I prefer purism because you don't have to ruin cool looking pieces by drawing on them and stuff. It just makes you more inventive.

The tiles have a little groove at the bottom so you can remove them easily. You can use a brick seperator, too. Same way as you would a plate, just need more power to remove them.

Yeah, I'm a semi-purist. I use Brickforge elements, and I glue together broken parts to make a whole different part, but for the most part, I'm purist.

I am Purist all the way. No Brickforge, non LEGO decals, tape, glue, Megablocks, or any foreign materials whatsoever! However, some people (not me) believe it is not purist to use the LEGO hand, arm, or leg pieces for something other than hands, arms, or feet. I, for one, disagree; a LEGO piece is a LEGO piece wether or not it's a hand, arm, or leg. Also, unless you are forcing LEGO pieces together, there is no such thing as an illegal connection.

I'm not an expert, but I'll give my best shot in an explaination for illegal connections. They are considered illegal connections because although there are five pieces in a Minifig's upper body, they come from LEGO considered as one piece, same with the legs and hips. There may be three pieces to them, but are considered one piece. It's as if you are taking a piece apart and using it in a way the LEGO never does. If you swap minifigure parts and it still looks like a minifigure, then those are legal connections because that is the innitial purpose for those pieces. Just my explaination on what the illegal conections are when it comes to minifig parts.

I tend to try to use legs and such creatively, not detached from the socket, but for joints. They work quite nicely, and it creates a cool effect that can good for waterfalls and such.
