I got a new game for my computer on Thursday: Mirror's Edge. Played it for nearly four hours yesterday. For those that haven't played it, it's basically a first-person action parkour freerunning thing. Kinda hard to explain, but it's a great game, and I managed to catch it going for only five bucks on a Steam daily-sale.

Anthro: Hybrid. Non-shapshifting. Anatomically mostly animal. otherwise normal exept for enhanced senses and some animal instincts (mostly pretaining to survival and self defence)
Furry (now that you brought that up): Hybrid. May or may not shapeshift. Anatomically mostly human, though still enough animal characteristics to be completely non-human. umm, last I checked, "taurus", from which the "minotaur" is derived, means bull in... Latin or Greek (I can't remember which). the word "toro" (commonly heard in just about any media concerning bullfights) is the Spanish word for bull.

anyway, the point of my previous essay (which is quite short compared to some of my others ;P) is that I'm almost positive that the "-taur" ending cannot, in technicality, be associated with human/animal crosses other than bulls/humans.

...not that any of you are really gonna care. :P

It was kind of a pun actually, hybrids are ok, but in the present they don't make to much sense. The pictures of them there where just kind of weird because they don't really belong in the present.

Here are a few additional tips, Make the paws bigger than normal. Draw a vertical line straight upwards from the paws, the line should go straight through the spine. Also make sure to elongate the neck slightly, Becaus the neck is thicker than that of a human, you otherwise might as well omit the neck entirely.

hmm, well that's not much help, considering I already finished the feet. :/ (and the feet were quite a pain, too, considering I had to add wheels)

well, I'll try the Tempest this way, and you can tell me what you think when I post it. then we'll decide whether or not to do the same basic thing with the Werewolf.

don't worry, after experimenting with a bajillion different foot designs, I finally got one that looked rather nice and functioned well too. actually, the only part of the Mech so far that I don't like is the thighs, as they're a tad large and out of proportion.

also, if you're wondering why it has wheels, it's because it's my racer Mech as well as the prototype for the Werewolf.

well, the Tempest is pretty much done. I'm correcting a few things right now. most notably the hands, which would look too big on an MBS, let alone the little Tempest.

Weekly Movie Wrap-Up time!

- I saw 'The Lorax' in theaters on Friday with a few friends, and I rather enjoyed it. Dr. Seuss, of course, so it was incredibly silly and, for the most part, light-hearted. Then again, this was 'The Lorax', our good Dr. Seuss' story about cutting down trees and environmental catastrophies. A good movie all around, I'd suggest you go see it with some friends.

- And I just finished watching Hugo. I can't explain Hugo, really. It takes place in France. Lots of gears. Steampunkish. It's the kind of movie that you don't really know what you're going in for, but you come out pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It's a must-watch for sure.

That's it for this Weekly Movie Wrap-Up! Stay tuned for the next installment next Sunday!

This movie can't come soon enough.

EDIT: A picture of several notable tributes, albeit out of character.

http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/46418-jennifer-lawrence-the-hunger-games-is-nothing-like-twilight/1320257210_hunger-games-article.jpg

Left to Right: Clove, Marvel, Foxface, Thresh, Glimmer, Cato, Rue, Peeta?, Katniss, Gale. Question on Peeta because it may not be him but the tribute from District 3.

Also, who else is annoyed that Twi-fans are turning this into "Team Peeta vs. Team Gale"? I know I'M pretty mad...

I was thinking that, but with all that's going on, I didn't really think to post.

I loved that mission, especially since if you do it, right, you can get away without any of them attacking you, and they'll randomly show up at some point away from Hackdirt and attack you en masse.

Ah yes, that was a bit of a surprise. I'm actually way past that point right now, I'm doing missions in Bruma. I've only brought Jauffre and Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple though, nothing else with the main quest. XD

the key to building a Mech is to piece all the small details together with some less-detailed parts, with a little forethought and planning to coordinate it.

as to the hands, yes, they were a MASSIVE help. I've changed a few things (most notably, giving it fingers), but otherwise they're the same.

by the way, speaking of the which, I'm considering making my own storyline based partially on my semi-lacking understanding of the Hunger Games, basically some evil government that takes certain individuals under its rule and makes them fight each other to the death (or something like that). ...but with Mechs. :P

I would suggest you see the Hunger Games and make an attempt to understand it before trying this. You may unintentionally glorify certain darker parts that those of us who love the Hunger Games know is bad. You may also offend us if you do that. :/

ugh, I was afraid you might say that. unfortunately I highly doubt I'm ever going to get the chance to either read the book or see the movie.
however, for just that reason, I have a feeling my story will, beyond the basic concept of it, be quite original and may turn out nothing like the real thing.

is there anything in specific you can name that I should avoid? what I mentioned in my previous post pretty much sums up every similarity that the my story will share with the real thing. anything else will likely just be coincidental.

Weekly Movie Wrap-up time!

I watched three movies this week, so this should be a pretty lengthy post.

First up, "The Big Year". Essentially, this is a birdwatching movie, not generally my thing, but it was very funny and had a cool way of representing certain aspects. It starred Steve Martin (Cheaper by the Dozen, Pink Panther remakes), Owen Wilson (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as President Beeblebronx, Cars as Lightning McQueen), and Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock). Surprisingly, with all three of these actors known for 'potty humor', it was a fairly clean film, save for some small bits. I recommend it if you're into comedy movies, as it is very funny.

Second, the Hunger Games. Undoubtedly, everyone has heard of this by now, so I shall spare you the summary and give you only my opinion. As a fan of the books, I couldn't help but watch the movie with "what did they do or add that the books didn't do or have?"-glasses on, and I was very glad that they hardly changed anything. There were bits here and there that were slightly different than the book, and I have a feeling a lot of people will be focusing too much on them, but they really aren't all that different. What the books did well, the movie did equally well, i.e., the similarities between reality TV today and the Games, the mental stress and repurcussions the Games have on the Tributes, etc. If you enjoy awesome movies, go see it. If you haven't read the books, you should still see the movie, but read the book before or after, as you may appreciate the movie more.

And finally, "The Adventures of Tin-tin". Using the system that produced "The Polar Express", this movie is a great testament to how far CGI has come in the past few years. A lot of it is total eye candy, most notably a shot in the middle of the movie that lasts for (no joke) about ten minutes. Having read a bit of Tin-tin before this movie, I was familiar with its style of action, and the movie was certainly a good representation of its storytelling.

LOL, big noses.

*Ahem* I would recommend this movie to people who want a bit of eye-candy, or just as a casual movie-watching. I thouroughly enjoyed it.

Well, that's about it! Please let me know if this was helpful, or if you even read any of it.

I heard the Hunger Games is good but I think I will read the book first. I watched Tin-tin yesterday, it is good but the story is a bit hard to follow. I might wait for "The Big Year" to come out on DVD (I am a fan of comedy). Anyway nice review.

But I have to ask, did they do the... umm... 'last' scene with Rue well? Please no spoilers but if they stuffed it up I might have to avoid seeing the movie.

Oh, and I assume you've all heard that Hunger Games sold more tickets than all of the Twilight movies did combined before it was released. Twi-hards get owned.

Yes, they did all of the important scenes very well, at least in my opinion. The actress who played Rue is actually quite good at the role for being so young (hopefully that's not a spoiler).

As for the Twilight vs. Hunger Games, I think everyone knew Hunger Games would win out in the end. :D

You can choose to take it as an insult and hold it against me, which will only hurt you in the end, or you could take it as it was intended, as a joke.

I generally don't make it a point to post jokes in giant [/SARCASM] tags, so anything I post that seems like an insult, unless directly stated as such, is probably a joke.

I accept your correction but i still see your comment as stereotyping-- a practice of which i do not aprove. I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Cupcakes are for camp daisy pickers who like to frolic in the land of the fairies. In case that offends you, man up and deal with it. =P

no worries, on my list of favorite pastry desserts, cupcakes are probably on the bottom. to me they're just big hunks of dry cake-y stuff with an overuse of sugar on top.

pie, on the other hand...

Just saw The Pirates! And an Adventure with Scientists. Very good indeed, definitely one you guys want to watch. Full of good ol' British humour.

No you can't, since I am British and thus spell it as so. The reason you know it is British is because I said it was. =P

spellcheck has all of your words with a red underline. :P

what about manoeuvre? either they don't pronounce it nearly like it sounds or it's one of the strangest words I know of.

same way.
my point is, how exactly do you get that pronunciation out of that word?
of course, I suppose you could say the same thing about our spelling of it. maneuver has that odd "e" in it too.
