really? huh. want me to write a school essay about a Mech for you? :P
well, considering my dad's a pastor that's broken several records on "the World's Longest Sermon" and my mom's a writer, it doesn't surprise me much.

by the way, you guys' late Christmas presents are back in the works. I'm working on a series of new MBS-size Mech designs unlike any you guys have ever seen for a certain project (I have yet to come up with some epic codename for it), and I'll be making alternate versions of each for your Christmas presents. :)

But then you don't get to ride the guilt-trip that is calling something late and profusely apologizing, whilst the reciever showers you with compliments and confirmations that "better late than never".

In other words, it feels better to call something late. :P

ermmm... about up to the waist, which isn't exactly very good considering I based it on the legs of a different Mech I already made. :S

well, I plan on basing it off my entry for the mini-Mech contest, which I'll be using to help with the basic shape. I'm attempting a VERY exotic design with yours, and it's a lot easier to figure out what I'm gonna do when I'm working on something small. :P

ha, the ol' "Stare-at-its-legs-and-waist-until-you-decide-to-try-something" technique worked, and the Stone Golem (my current Christmas Mech project) looks ready to (once I make the arms) pound its enemies into finely-ground metal powder. >:D

okay guys, I need a little help. as of yet, I have five different Mech designs, and I've decided who to give two of them to. but that still leaves three more.

the options are:
-my current project, an MBS based off my Grenadier with the biggest guns you've ever seen mounted on a Mech and armor to match,
-a MBS designed with aerial combat in mind, and
-a smaller super-hi-tech stealth unit a bit bigger than the average Exo-Force unit (well, maybe a bit larger).

LTE, Jak, and ED, I'd like to know what each of you would like.

Pardon if this seems slightly off-topic, but has anyone here played Defense Grid: The Awakening? It's an indie game available on Steam, and I've been playing quite a bit of it lately. It's basically tower defense at its best mixed with some "protect the stuff" elements (made that term up myself, could you tell? :P). Anyways, I would suggest you guys check it out, I'm not sure if it is available anywhere else than Steam, but if it is, you won't be sorry you got it! :D

Tried the demo of it, it's pretty good. I didn't spring it though.

I tried the game Fusion: Genesis, and that one's pretty good. You get a ship, and you fly around, making money, and doing missions for one of five factions. Really good game.

It's going alright, I haven't worked on it in a bit. I've been playing normal PC games like Trine, EDGE, Defense Grid, etc., as well as wrestling with my computer. BTW, if any of you have had issues with the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), and have solved it, I'd be glad to hear your advice. I've tried a fair amount of solutions, but I'm still having issues. >_<

Hmm, I'm currently using a cordless USB mouse and a some USB headphones. The thing is, I've had issues with the BSOD before I was using either of them.

Since I commented, I've experimented a bit and found that the BSOD appears whenever I lower my volume by any means. Yes, that means my volume is stuck at 50%. I've tried the keyboard button, the slider on the bottom bar, and the adjustment knob on my headphones, but they all give be the BSOD. I'm currently running a defrag, but I'm quickly running out of ideas for solutions.

really? huh. my speakers have a bit of trouble if I overtax them too much, usually resulting in my computer shutting off (not BOSD, just turning off), but it's never been because of adjusting the volume. ermmm... well, all I can say for certain is that I'm definitely not the computer techie I always thought I was.

both are absolutely beautiful.

by the way, can I make a small recommendation to you? try using more ball joints on your Mechs. the various joint systems you use are pretty good, but they're a tad simple-looking and limit the Mech's maneuverability a bit. also, try some new finger designs. your current idea is nice until you get to the clips on the end, which kinda ruin it.

Believe me, I experimented with dozens of hand designs but so far this is the most practical one for me. About ball joints, I think 6 is enough. You know, when I build most of the time I consider that the model would be built in real life too(but not always) so I go for stability. Tough I'll experiment with what you told me.

I Might be able to help. Every day your computer saves a file containing information about pretty much everything that was going on at the time. Every Windows computer that is, i'm asssuming Macs do the same thing. There is a builtin emergency backup function that you can use to literally back your system up to a previous date based on the information in these files. I'm unsure how to access this function, but i do know my dad had to revert our previous computer on a number of occations. If nothing else works, i recomend reverting your computer to the day before you started experiencing this problem, as described above. If that doesn't do it, you'll have to call the Geek Squad (tm)

Just finished teh movie.

AifhuhekjrhjFIGHTINGROBOTSFTW!!! :DDD

*Ahem*

Now that I have that out of my system, I fully recommend Real Steel to everyone. It is awesome. No really, I was awed by some bits. Really great movie, interesting ending, though, *puts on Vader mask*, I find its lack of guns disturbing.

There have only really been three movies so far that have really inspired me as far as robots/mechs go: Transformers 1, Ironman 2, and this movie. For those who have watched Ironman 2, you probably remember the ens bit with the mechs with rocket pods ON THEIR FREAKIN' SHOULDERS! When I first saw that, it reminded me of my lego mechs, like a lot. Sure, the proportions are way off, but it what I had in my head at the time.

I know I've said contrary in the past, but my mechs probably wouldn't be to minifig scale. I've imagined the UXM-1.T to be roughly ten feet tall, the UGM-7 would probably be fourteen feet tall, and the APMS-1 would be eighteen or so. I know a lot of you guys' mechs are built to minifig scale, but I'm kinda trying to keep my technology close to modern and my fesability high. The world will eventually graduate to small mechs, then hardsuits and large mechs, and on and on it goes.

Sorry if this seems like a rant, I guess the movie really got the juices flowing in my head, and I gotta let it go somehow.

BTW, I'm gonna be seeing giant robotic arms punching things for weeks... WHICH IS A GOOD THING!!! :D

Ironman II reminded me of your works too, Andrew. After seeing TF:Dark of the Moon I was toying with the idea of making one of those aircraft things they had defending the island when the were bringing back Cybertron.

Anyway, who doesn't like mechs fighting? That is the epitome of awesome.

Strangely, excluding Ironman, I don't really like mech movies. Not sure why. The main reason I got into mechs was because at the age of 3-6 I was watching Robot Wars (it was a fairly successful TV series back then, with about 8 seasons or so as well as various other events. I even managed to go see one live!). It isn't on TV now, but occasionally some of the later episodes pop up on Dave.

I'll send you an LDD model of Rock'em-Sock'em Robots. :P

and yeah, at first every humanoid Mech I made had some Iron Man inspiration in it. if you go back to the DbM gallery, you'll notice my Glenstrom MBS and all my mini-Mechs have glowy blue power cores on their chests. :P (in fact, most of even my recent mini-Mechs have that...)

oh, and while I'm not positive, I'm pretty sure that those measurements ARE at minifig-scale. a minifig is... six foot, if I remember those "official" scales right.
EDIT: never mind. I just checked, and they're a tad bit (<--sarcasm) over ten feet.

Iron Man never appealed to me (the only marvel character i ever liked was Spider Man) And at most i've only been intrigued by Real Steel. However, I Loved Transormers the Movie, absolutely Adored Transformers Revenge of the Falen, and Went Crazy over Transformers Dark of the Moon! Although i must admit, Dark of the Moon failed to make me cry like Transformers and Revenge of the Fallen did. Yes, the first two Transformers movies made me cry. *pulls out my Desert Eagle* Do you have a problem with that? No? Good!

lol, I dun have a problem with you crying over dem bayformers, but you actually liked Transformers 2? I gotta say, that was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Transformers 1 was good, 2 was awful, and 3 was about equal to 1. Anyways, the trailers for Real Steel don't really do it justice. The movie itself is very good.

Do you have pets? If you do, how many and what are they?

I've got three cats (Sammy, Tammy, Suki, all named by my Dad), the first being orange, the second calico, the third simply insane. :P

My dad owns a dog. He (our dog) is a Mutt of some kind. Those from whom we adopted him say he's a cross between a German Shepard and a Welsh Corgi. Mom thinks he's a cross between a German and a Chow. He has the fur of a husky but with the coloration of a cross between a German and a Coyote. He is about as long as a German or a Husky but with a Length/Height ratio more similar to a Dachshund. he has the head of what i like to call a "Wolf-type" (e.g. Husky, German Shepard, etc) But with the ears of a Golden Retriver. His name is "Sckuda" (Say s-good-uh but in two syllables instead of three) Which means "For a special occation" in Yugoslavian. (a wedding dress, for instance wouls be refered to as a Sckuda Dress) In Polish Sckuda means "Oh, too bad." so yeah, we have a dog.

TF:2 wasn't that bad as long as you went into it knowing what you were going to get: Big hulking robots smashing each other to bits. But that's not to say it was good. Anyone else here wish they'd put Unicron in a movie?

I assume you're talking about Hump-free? I don't really know what to think about him anymore. He kinda seems to try and stir up drama whenever he posts, and he seems to think he's one of the most important builders around, at least he did until Mythril layed into him in the HFR group.

And I'm sorry to hear that, ED. :(

now that we've proved how effective WW's combat system is, I'd say it's time you surrendered to my obviously-superior military might and we just quit with this before Bio starts yelling at us. :P

lol

Well arik, to answer your original question that Richie only partially answered, another reason twig and I aren't on the best of terms if because of a little something in War World's history I refer to as "the HFB Incident". Basically, one of the players was under assault from all sides, and I figured that the only way to resolve the conflict was to step in myself. So I came up with the plan to drop a Hydrogenated Fat Bomb (a bomb filled with fatty goo that would spread over the whole country). Course, twig, joey, and zero all ganged up and demanded that I hand over the blueprints. I responded saying they were burned. It escalated from there, ending with one of the three "invading" CBMC headquarters in true "I pwn you" style that they are famous for. I don't quite remember how that all sorted itself out, but it did somehow. Anyways, since then, twig and I just haven't been friends.

The TCS-stealing thing also contributed a HUGE amount to my dislike of him, but it really started with the HFB Incident.

Didn't Jak imaginate the HFB, but you creationified it?

Anyway, and this is directed to Arik and Richie to save space:

Didn't we ban nukes? Especially HiV ones. Really, Richie, did you <i>have</i> to use that acronym? Anyway, what you both didn't realise was that while you were fighting I stole Andrew's HFB, used terraforming to combine your countries and let it rip on 'Arichiland'. =D

On to general chatting...

I might not be on much for the next five or so days, as I'll be working on a birthday present of sorts for one of my best friends. She's turning fifteen, so I wanted to make an extra special "Happy Birthday" claymation for her. I've got the basic concept planned, but it will take quite a bit of effort to complete on time (her b-day is Wednesday). So yeah, don't expect too much of me. :)

it's quiet around here...

*ghosts start floating around*

Were the "ghosts" accompanied by an intense blue light that flooded the entire room? If so, they weren't gosts; That blue light is Triolic radiation, which can mean only one thing --Dividians... >.> <.<

My dear arik, creepers are beings that roam the lands of Minecraftia, searching for unsuspecting users. When they find one, they will sneak up silently, then hiss slightly before blowing itself, and a large portion of the land, up.

For goodness sake, just get the game!
