As it happens, I recently got the complete trilogy boxset - it took me two days to read all of them. XD

I've actually been thinking of making some dioramas from the book, but I'm not sure how I would workit. As for the film, its bound to be cheesey, and if that is the case, I'd hate from the start. If it isn't cheesey, I'd be surprised and probably pleased.

Hey folks,

I'm beginning to run out of ideas for new and innovative AF builds, so I'm going to begin producing variations of existing designs.

I am willing to produce custom variations upon request for anyone who wants to see a different spin on an MOC I've already made. Want to see the Emperor Cannon with loads of missiles in dark green? Perhaps the Tornado Adler converted into a yellow bombing unit? I'll try anything once, if only to get myself out of this creative slump.

-FN

Just moving it here...

Seen the books in the library and I've been thinking about reading them. Probably will now.

Continuing on teh topic of books: What else do you like to read, Andrew. I've talked to Jak about books before but not you (my brain didn't make the connection between writing a story and reading them: fail). Oh, and how did your story go for that comp in November?

They are definitely worth checking out, but only if you have a strong stomach. It can get REALLY gory. One person gets torn apart by a pack of genetically mutated wolf-humans. >.<

I actually don't read many books, to be honest, but I've read the Percy Jackson series recently. I tend to be interested in books with dragons in them, yet I've never quite gotten interested in Eragon... But yeah, that's about all I can think of.

And, about the story thing... It didn't go. Well, it did, but only for about ten days. I hit 7,000 words and my brain stalled. I haven't written anything in my book since... >_<

I read all the books and I agree with your later comment: They can get gory, not to mention a little psycho.

Excited? me? No, this nervous twitching is from too much coffee, not over-excitement to see a movie that looks from the previews one hundred percent accurate and therefore epically awesome. YES, I am VERY excited.

Yeah, I'm really amazed that they added such a minute detail as Cinna's gold eyelash highlights. (Derp, that sounded weird.)

But yeah, the movie looks awesome. :D

Just saw the trailer, and to be honest I am pleasantly surprised. But there are some things which look wrong, like the fact that Katniss seems somewhat shallow, and Haymitch no where near drunk enough. :P

Heh, not sure how you can deduce so much from a trailer that doesn't even get into the actual "Hunger Games" part of the Hunger Games. And from what I've read, Haymitch definitely slacks off on the liquor around the time they reach the Capitol. As for Katniss being shallow, no one has seen enough of the movie to make such assumptions. :P

Hmmm... I just LOVE genetically mutated Wolf-Humans. Or more spesifically Lupine Humanoids. Or, in contemporary language, Wolf Anthros. In fact, I want to BE one. That pretty much sums up MY interpetation of the Mayan Calendar. I'm not interested in these books; I dont react pleasntly to the concept of Anthros eating Humans.... Hey Andrew, What exactly was your book supposed to be about, and where exactly did you get stuck? I might be able to bounce a few ideas off your head.

No Problemo. Here's my advice: The Chick is NOT going to marry the Pick Pocket. Neither is she gonna marry the med school student. She previously had a crush on the Fire Fighter but he's pretty shy so in the end, the Chick is goinh to PROPOSE to the Fire Fighter.

umm, and you automatically assume firefighters haven't been replaced by emergency drones with water jets? or that the Chick happens to be the princess, and her father will only let her marry a noble in his court?

Actually, i'm assuming that the pick pocket was raised by raccoons, the med school student was raised by foxes, and the fire fighter was raised by wolves. ...or maybe coyotes?

And you're both wrong in many different ways. The chick is the pickpocket, there are no firefighters but fighters that fight with fire, and the entire thing is set in a very medieval fantasy setting. With dragons.

Oops... That whole thing about not saying stuff about my book kinda imploded...

If that's the case, the current boyfriend MUST die... Unfortunatly. The book ends with the supposed antagonist eventually redeeming himself and marrying the Chick.

1. I fail to see how my actions were asinine.
2. We all moved here for our own reasons, but I agree that moderation (or rather, slow moderation) was one of my reasons.
4. There are five mods/admins.
5. I did look at what was in teh thread, and I belive that it is a good idea and has a place here, however there is a blanket rule of leaving topic creation to mods/admins. In future if you want a topic ask in teh GC and the mods will assess it.

what if the dragon is the antagonist? it's generally hard for the Chick to marry someone of a different species. perhaps the dragon is really a handsome prince that had a spell put... ugh, that's sounds WAY too much like a fairy tale-type story. wait, wait, I've got it. the Chick and her boyfriend are sent by the king to slay the dragon. by some series of events, the Chick gets separated from her boyfriend and ends up with the dragon. over time, the Chick forms a relationship with the dragon. when her boyfriend finds out, he gets jealous and kills the dragon. and then the Chick gets mad and kills him or something.

ugghhh... I'm working on my latest project, a redone Behemoth Superheavy Mech, and I'm completely stuck. I got past the feet (oh wow, great accomplishment), but every attempt I've made at the legs has turned out sloppy. I'm pretty much stumped.

anyway, I started looking around on various galleries for similar Mechs to get ideas from, and I've found pretty much nothing. all I've found is my own Behemoth-1 and Bryce's old Ant, both of which are WAAAY too simplistic to meet my needs.

does anyone know of any large six-legged Mech or walker designs I could get some basic ideas from? I'm looking for something along the lines of an AT-TE.

When i design something with more than 2 legs, i tend to draw inspiration
from animals. Here are my recommendations:

Hmm... Chunk's got a polypedic mech on the DbM Gallery. It was one of his WW creations. But I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, the legs are short and there's only four of 'em but you could look at the style I guess.

by the way, wanna know why I even added that on? well, I played as the director of an angel choir in my church's Christmas play. just as sort of a funny thing, I kept referring to myself as "The Director" for a day or two afterward, and it just caught on. :P

Quoting Rich Collins... 257th Wolf
So, ive noticed a small theme begining to germinate within The Elite Mechaniers. Spesifically, Name Games. It started with Arik, who went from Arik Lego to Arik Lego... The Director. Then Maveric went from Cris "Maveric" Davis to Chris Davis... The Innovator. So i decided to jump on the band wagon, going from Richie "Richie2571" Collins to Rich Collins... 257th Wolf. Why don't we All give it a try?
Sounds fun, I'm in! :P

Funny you say that. I was thinking of a good nickname and I realized my mechs are extremely unorthodox and quite different from most others, so I decided that The Innovator would fit me quite well (:

Just a small obsession of mine. and besides, its not "Were" anything, its Wolf Anthro(I just say "wolf" for short). Whats the difference you ask? #1 No Shapeshifting. #2 No connection to Lunar Phases. #3 No People-Eaters. #4 No Supernaturally Enhanced Strength, Speed, or Sensory Aptitude. #5 Absolutly nothing to do with Vampires (Sorry, Twihards).

Just because i have a muzzle full of sharp teeth doesn't mean I'm a threat; Probably the worst i'll do to you is give you a big, solid, hug. Of course, if you choose to be my enemy, i am willing and able to defend myself. Thats why so many Anthros-- Canine, Feline, and Otherwise --Carry Guns. Trust me, you do NOT want to be on the wrong side of a wolf with a Desert Eagle [i wish]. And, if you come in with something an 'eagle can't take down, I know how to wedge a sword between two armor plates on one mech. [again, i wish] As for that hug, if you havent felt the sensation of rock-hard muscle underneath soft fluffy fur, you dont know what its like to be hugged.

I dunno, it'd take a preeeeetty big sword to take down some Mechs, the ones in my head at the moment in particular. and that's assuming you get past the PLAB beams, missile barrages, rapid-fire MDC rounds, and heavy pulse bolts separating you from your target. :P

oh, and I HAVE experienced hugs very similar to what you described. I'm not sure if my dad's muscles are exactly "rock-hard", but back then it really felt like it. :P

No one can Destroy a mech with a sword, but you can get through to the electronics and/or fluid-hoses. Then you get out your Desert Eagle, Shoot once, and that mech is out of commission. As for the PLABs and what not, Fortunatly, Wolves are pretty agile. And VERY resilliant. As a Wolf, I could probably survive anything that doesn't take out any vital organs. At Least long enough to fight back...

The Titan II actually uses the "Lancer" PBL-6 Particle Beam lance. Where the Polarized Light Accelerator Beam (PLAB-1) is more of a continuous beam weapon, the Particle Beam Lance fires a quick flash of charged particles. I'm not sure which one would be considered more powerful, but I will be sure to include effects on both the Grey Wolf and Titan II when I post them.

My guess is that an Auto-Cannon is a gun that has a self-contained, auto-aim system that requires no gunner, simply AI programming.

and I'd agree with Bio on the auto-cannon thing. that's what autoturrets are, anyway, AI-operated turrets that lock on to targets and fire all on their own. very handy for vehicles with lots of guns and not-so-lots of gunners.

In Battletech terms, an autocannon is just a normal cannon with an autoloader system, giving it a higher fire rate (modern day tank cannons would technically be considered autocannons)

I should give credit to you for the technique used in the PLAB-1s. The way you made the barrel using the octagonal rings, that is. I really liked that and have used it many times. So yeah, thanks.
