don't worry I've finished the actual Mech. I just need to get the screenshots edited and put it up. by the way, I hope you don't mind but I made some... minor changes to the Mech, that being some slight modifications to the body and helmet, as well as changing the color scheme slightly (don't worry I kept the blue eye thing. I just didn't like that particular shade of brown). is that alright? it's too late to change the pictures, but if you want I can still edit the actual LDD file.

Okay, if you haven't yet grabbed a copy of Portal 2, do so now.

I'll wait a minute...

Okay. You should now own a copy of Portal 2. Play it and finish it.

I'll wait for a couple days...

Okay. You should now have finished Portal 2. Doubtless your brain is flooded with epicness, so brace yourself for my next sentence:

The next Portal 2 DLC add-on is a custom map builder.

Oh, I'm sorry, was that your brain exploding that I just heard?

All joking aside, here's the Portal 2 blog entry: http://www.thinkwithportals.com/blog.php?id=6632&p=1

While there's already a beta SDK available (I've been messing around with it), there will soon be a simple, polished, and easy-to-use version for everyone. I'm pumped, as the beta SDK is proving to be really hard to use.

Meh, I'm waiting for an Avatar-the-Game SDK to come out. When an SDK comes out, add-ons start comming out; and when add-ons start coming out, the game gets awesome!

Praise all that is holy! I've been a bit bored recently, and it was a shame the new content was only coop (didn't take long to finish xD). But it says 'upload via Steam', so I'm assuming it won't be anything new for Xbox. :(

I'll have to check em out some time. Have you ever read The Demonata by Darren Shan? theres ten books, but they're so epic and gruesome and mind blowing. Great reads, particularly the second and fourth books.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think you can get Steam on the PS3 now, if you have it connected online. So it might be possible to get the DLC, but I'm not certain. Best hope would be to just get it on a computer, but even then, I'm not sure it will be available for both PC and Mac. :S

Also, ED, try to keep post chains to a maximum of 3. It helps to not clog everything up. I'm not against double or triple posting, but I am against quadroople posting. :P

lol, no kidding. I have Up Your Arsenal (the game after Going Commando, I think). if it weren't for a dumb scratch the disk got that keeps me from being able to play two or three levels, I'd have beaten it a million times myself. one of the best parts about the Ratchet and Clank games are the weapons, I'd say. the N60 Storm/N90 Hurricane is my best friend. :P

I'm probably not going to. they've made the characters look kinda goofy in the more recent games, and from the looks of it the game doesn't have much as far as weapons. and the weapons are easily the best part of the Ratchet and Clank games.

hey Chunk, you around? I had an idea for a project. I've been trying to build sort of a Star Wars-style walker Mech, but have been having trouble with the inflexible leg joint design found on most Star Wars walkers. and then I remembered the unique and, in my opinion, very effective leg design found on your old Omnimechs, and though it might work well on a quadrupedal Mech unit. I was going to just get started, but decided to wait until I had your permission. is it alright if I use the Omnimech leg design (well, something like it anyway) for my Mech?

I'm making on like that too. I've only seen the teaser for Eronev, so I'm not sure what's in it. Anyway, mine is a walled town that has been infested by zombies. It is spilt into sections, each section is locked off at the start and the player completes puzzles, parkour rooms, fights and other challenges to unlock each area.
I might upload it to Adfly, so you might be able to play it when I'm done.

Also, I assume the LU thing doesn't include Alpha/Beta testers?

No, I'm afraid you would have had to have bought membership at some time, so Testers do not count.

Also, do you know of anyway to change what a spawner spawns? I've been looking for a mod to do it but haven't had anyluck so far.

don't worry, so far all of us DbM Gallery Noobs have been totally clueless about it. from what I can tell, it's an old TV series or something about a bunch of Mechs and things, apparently pretty well known among most Mech designers. that's about all I know. :P

From what I understand, Gundam is like a Japanese style MBS. It's a popular style for legos (no duh) as well as in media. I can't say much for certain, so if I got anything wrong with that statement, feel free to correct me.

The MBS's are more based on the Armored Core franchise, but there are some similarities I suppose between the 2. Gundam is a long running theme with several TV series within the theme. I've seen a few, I watched Mobile suit Gundam a bit when I was younger. It's a very in depth series with a deep story line from what I understand. I Beleive it goes almost as far back as the Original Battletech, if not further.

I'm nearly certain it goes further.

But if you don't know what a Gundam is, the best way to find out it to look it up and watch one of the series, since each one has a slightly differenet take on what a Gundam is. Personally, they're not my favorite, as the seem... obstensious. Something that size, and such. I prefer smaller designs, like the Knightmare Frame of Code Geass and the Armor Shrike of Blue Gender.

Say, that's an idea. I could build an Armor Shrike...

I'll provide you guys with plenty of info on this matter if that's what you need! The word Gundam describes two things, it's the name of the most popular mecha/sci-fi franchise in Japan(tough the whole name is Mobile Suit Gundam) and the name given to the special Mobile Suits(in the Gundam worlds these are the mechas) that have the typical white, red, blue color scheme. They are mostly Prototype or Unique units that have the best performance all the time.

Now, about the franchise itself, the first and original show aired in 1978, and it was the FIRST "real" mecha anime. It had an incredible influence on Japan(probably there isn't a Japanese who doesn't know this name and they have a huge amount of modelkits too :P).

Now a little about the original: The original Gundam series took place in a fictional future age called Universal Century, where humanity have travelled into space and enstablished colonies in space.

The story is about the One Year War between the Earth Federation and the so called Principality of Zeon(made up of colonies, and they were the ones to use Mobile Suits first)and the federations new Mobile Suit the Gundam, that was better than all the other suits.

Now if you want to understand more about it I recommand to search the web...it has tons of information on this topic, or if you'd like to watch a series. I'd recommand to watch either "Gundam 00" that aired in 2007 or a somewhat older but more relistic one called "The 08th MS Team". The two series are two diefferent worlds, only common things are the gundams and the mobile suits. I hope now you'll know "more" about what Gundam IS. :D (And if you didn't notice till now, I'm a serious Gundam fan! XD)

I hardly know what either of the two are. :P I'm such a Mech newbie, knowing nothing but what I've seen from CBMC/XT or what I've made up myself.

XD)

really? you're a Gundam fan? even though your pic is a Gundam Mech and nine tenths of your creations are Gundam stuff? never would've guessed. :P

No, I'm afraid you would have had to have bought membership at some time, so Testers do not count.

Also, do you know of anyway to change what a spawner spawns? I've been looking for a mod to do it but haven't had anyluck so far.

My friend had a mod for it in 1.7.3, but I'll have to google it for 1.8.1...

Okay, Rigusami has one. Haven't tested it yet. You will need ModLoader. (And TMI or equiv. to place the spawners, but you probably have it already) http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/75440-v18119p5-risugamis-mods-everything-updated-prerelease-included/ I think it's the same one by friend had.

I know this was for Andrew but I think we should add a 'New topics to be added by Admins/Mods only' clause to our rules. And Andrew's an Admin so he can lock your topic if he sees fit.

ABCman, no offence taken or intended, but I thought it would have been obvious that competitions for the group should only be initiated by Admins or Mods, and I did give you an explanation of why I locked it.

And we got so many people because I invited most of them. We are a fairly new group, and I hope so see many more people in the future.

Can someone teach me how to post a buddy icon? I can't figure it out. :( It keeps coming up with an all black icon.

Welcome to MOCpages, LTE. I see you too have succumbed under my powers of persuasion, just like arik. XD It's good to have you here. :)

Thanks for the compliments on the UGM-7s, though don't feel shy from posting it on the actual creations, it is a bit more polite to do that than post about it in a group, and it helps get more likes on the creation. :P

Your icon is showing up fine to me. Also, try adding a creation or two. They probably won't show up right away, but they'll appear eventually. By then, your account should be fully enabled.

Well, its over - in Januray, LU is shutting its doors. Allow me to give you the full details:

(from a certain forum)
Lego Universe has run out of those skinny, flat, four-pronged pieces that are necessary to hold entire structures together, but that there never seem to be enough of in the Lego bin, probably because you lost them all and that's what happens when you don't take care of your things -- now go to time out and think about what you've done.

Lego Universe's problems actually run much deeper than missing pieces -- it's missing players. Since going free-to-play in August, "it has not been possible to convert a satisfactory number of players to paying subscribers," The Lego Group said. Lego Universe will officially close Jan. 31, 2012. Developer Play Well Studios in Louisville, Colorado, and the marketing division in Billund, Denmark, will be closed, affecting 115 people. We hope they'll be able to build new, better careers out of this.

LEGO® Universe to close in 2012

Online game will close on January 31, 2012. The LEGO Group's digital offerings will continue to develop over the coming years.

November 4, 2011 – The LEGO Group today announced that it will close LEGO® Universe, an MMOG (massively-multiplayer online game) that has been in operation since the autumn of 2010.

In spite of very positive player feedback and a large number of players in the free play zone, it has not been possible to convert a satisfactory number of players to paying subscribers. It has therefore been decided to close the game as of January 31, 2012.

"The LEGO Universe team can take pride in having developed and launched a great LEGO experience that many players will miss," said Jesper Vilstrup, Vice President, LEGO Universe. "Right now, we have almost 2 million players in LEGO Universe, and we get extremely positive feedback from players. Unfortunately, we have not been able to build a satisfactory revenue model in our target group, and therefore, have decided to close the game."

Despite the change, the ambition to develop and run a digital business remains. In future, it is the intention to further pursue cooperation with partners. The LEGO Group has a strong and continuing partnership with TT Games & Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to create digital LEGO experiences within video games. A further expansion in the digital area will mainly be based on similar partnerships.

"The development of our digital offerings continues to be a very important element in our strategy," said Mads Nipper, Executive Vice President, LEGO Group. "We have more than 20 million visitors on www.LEGO.com every month, and LEGO video games are among the bestselling children's video games with sales of more than 60 million units in the last five years. Through our experience developing and running LEGO Universe, we have gained a lot of valuable insights, and we have a very strong foundation for future development in the digital area."

As a consequence of the closure, the LEGO Universe staff has today been informed that the 'Play Well Studios' in Louisville, Colorado and the game's marketing function in Billund, Denmark will be closed. This will affect 115 employees. All affected employees will be offered assistance in finding new jobs inside or outside the LEGO Group.

Further down that page is the following comment:

Meanwhile, Markus Persson is still counting his fat piles of money from a game he hasn't officially released yet.

Makes you think. Heres the link to the LU forum discussion:

"What Jak posted about LU"
Well, I can't say I'm surprised or that I'm sad. LU was fun while it lasted, but not something that's worth wasting my life away on. I just wish people would stop over-reacting about it. People are like, "NO!!!1!!1 GIVE US THE FINAL BATLE!!!!1!!!1" or "JUST ON MORE PACH!1!!". One person went so far as to say, "This is the saddest news of my life. Lego Universe WAS my life." Now that's just sad. Anyways, I think I'll enjoy a few more days of bliss with the "Welcome Back Weekend", then I'll kiss another half-decent Lego video game goodbye...

you're kidding. LU is ending already. XD hmm, so the Free-to-Play mode was a bad idea. maybe now they'll put up some of their old games, like MNOG II, The Nightfall Incident, and some of those other super-fun games they used to have. hopefully this doesn't spell the end for the LU Creation Lab, that's the best place on LEGO.Com for posting creations.

yep, I agree. perhaps if they added some great big battle, say, a month or so before it closed down, where the various people all team up to fight legions of stromlings and maybe some super-powerful boss before it closes down. that might help a bit.

F2P almost made LU a success. If it had been there from the beginning, LU might have been saved. All thos eplayers getting a taste, and then wanting to feed that taste . . . you get the point. ANd as BiO said, gotta move onto new stuff.

hmm, that's a good point. well, I've never really cared for the game anyway. I tried the F2P version but never did much. although I was considering making a minifig-scale Star Destroyer in my Block Yard property...

yeah, that was a fun game. although I think I overused the belt gears a bit. it was called Inventor, right? and then there's World Builder, which was also pretty fun.

by the way, you do realize you can still play Junkbot, right? there's a topic on the MBs with links to a bunch of old games. here it is. http://messageboards.lego.com/en-us/showpost.aspx?PostID=2310444

other fun games? Mata Nui Online Game, MNOG II, Galidor Quest, World Builder, Simbot and that Mindstorms spy game, and probably a good number of other games I never played (Stormrunner and VNOG, for example).

although it sounds like some of them might come back. apparently the reason LEGO got rid of many of them was to clear room for LEGO Universe.

well, most of those are about two years old, probably older. a lot of them most likely don't work. and no, none of the Bionicle game links work, unfortunately. (really annoying, because those are my favorites)

So as to save space from lots of quoting:
I agree with you all. World Builder (2 was okay but I preferred the first), Junkbot and 2, the MM RTS and Spybotics: The Nightfall Incident (AKA that Mindstorms hacking game). LEGO has made some good games over the years. Most the new ones are a bit off though: have you seen the one on Creator with the island? I'm still having nightmares...

The problem is that the people, namely children, of today, have quite a dumbed down intelligence, if you know what I mean. Things have been made a little too easy for people. Anyways, Lego has to move with the times, therefore their games nowadays lack that awesome puzzle experience you used to get. Oh how I yearn for World Builder . . .

Speaking of locking, this brings us nicely up to 800 conversation. Time to unlock Conversation 5! xD

I'm slightly confused also, though I had that problem when I was Moderator of the TCS group, I had to ask chunk to lock/unlock the news thing when I wanted to post something. Then he made me an admin and it went away. I think mods can ban people that are getting out of hand, but they can't lock thread, which doesn't make that much sense to me...

Anyways, locking this convo, unlocking the new one. :)
