Bolt action Sniper
Join to comment
Right well it's been a long time since I've posted anything on these forums, I'm posting now because I've got a major problem: I can't find a gun that I can possibly sell! You've probably all heard about my store, and I need a sniper for it. The problem is that none I can find fin my specs for a possible gun.
The specs are:
-MUST be bolt action
-MUST have some sort of shroud over the barrel, at least until about 1.5 feet from the chamber (forward)
-MUST NOT look flimsy - the intervention and remmington MSR are both possibilities, but they both have flimsy stock designs (if build in LEGO).

Any ideas, please let me know - the more the better!

well that was a possibility, but it's huge; I don't think I've got enough bricks. Also, it's bullpup, which is annoying :L
See my problem? Every sniper has one problem or another :(

Also possible is the m24(army)/m40(marines)/Remington 700(original weapon)

again, possibilities, but I forgot to mention that the shroud has to be +2M high for me to fit the mech in (sorry!) - these look about one. Nice try, keep looking guys! Btw I'm seriously thinking MSR now, can anyone find a (side-on) picture of one with a non-flimsy stock? Thanks guys :)

why do you need a sniper when u allready have like 3 nice snipers?

I've changed my mech - all those ones use my closed bolt mech, I want to sell my guns usung the open bolt one, as it is simpler, more powerful, and needs next to no maintennance. The closed bolt mech had a habit of jamming, and needing dissassembly to fix, which got really annoying.

MK12 sniper, but it's actually just a sniper variant of the M4. And I can't find any pics of a MSR with a different stock.

If you don't mind if it's bullpup maybe a DSR 50 or DSR 1?

The problem with bullpup is that I have to make the gun boring by basically building it like a bullpup assault rifle. A normal sniper will have a bolt that actually comes out the back of the gun. When I build bolt actions, I design them so that the rubber bands are stretched when pushing the bolt back into the gun, as opposed to pulling it out - but this can only be done because you are able to close the bolt by pushing the bolt back, as opposed to using the handle to push the bolt back (as the handle isn't strong enough). If I make it bullpup, I lose the ability to do that, so the bands have to be stretched when you pull the bolt backwards, which again is stressful on a bolt that is already weakened by a hinge.

Also, the Assymmetric Warrior seems to have a better stock, but be othersise the same as the MSR, maybe I'll try that...

Thanks for all the help though guys, it's good that this forum is actually talking about *Lego* guns for once ;)

He already made that one, but it could be used with the new mech.

Why not try an Arctic Warfare? That's what im making next anyways...

The AW does not have a shroud - it was what i started off building before I started this topic - when it failed, I started searching for a new gun.
Anyway, I've already finished the gun - it's a Lee Enfield (so actually that was a good call Glen :D)
Problem is that it looks a little weird, so I'm gonna change it to the Jungle Cabine version (MK. 5).
I Mmy or may not upload it, but it's gonna be in the store soon enough - and then you can buy it!
(PS. its UBER POWERFUL - about as good as the G35 family - much better than my first LE :D :D :D)

Possibly the last thing, I'm probably just going to be re-making more open-bolt guns and creating their instructions from now on.
I've now finished converting it, so it's now a Jungle Carbine aka Enfield MK.5 No.1, and it actually looks good now ;)
Ok, I'll upload some time tomorrow - BUT there won't be any mech shots this time - it took me several hours of thinking to work out how to make a bolt action gun with my open bolt mech (more difficult and complicated than you'd think), and seeing as I'm intending to sell this gun, there's no point giving away my secret.

Happy? :)
