Hands down for the FG-42! That gun has never failed me and I don"t care if you think its lame. The FG is so nice from killing people up close to killing people at distance that I rarely have to use my sidearm. Although I reload ALL the time I can handle that if the gun gets me 7000+ kills! I preffer to go with an M1 Grand and Trench-Gun combo (ps2) in the Japanese levels if I can find it. If not, I go with a Thompson instead. From Mt. Tap onward, I take a Grand and a Type99 LMG. In the german missions, I grab an Mp44 and BAR or Kar. Permalink

Thompson is all around better minus its lower rate of fire. The Thompson can kill in two hits at point blank with stopping power (56-28). The FG takes three (42-30). In core, where players have 100 health, a round drum Thompson is better. Players have 30 health in hardcore, making a scoped FG a better choice. I don't play hardcore, so my gun beats yours. :)
See now your logic is completely wrong. I have seen your stats and yes the stats point your way, but remember the stats don't say anything about combat performance! Call of duty stats are sometimes shockingly wrong depending on how you use a gun, like a holographic sight on an F2000 in MW2 makes the accuracy stat on that gun seem completely wrong. I will tell you the FG's firing rate makes up for its lack of damage. The gun does wonders in core with or without stopping power... It just takes some getting used to that's all. Besides I could never use a Thompson well, the darn sights are really bad on that gun. It doesn't really matter which you use... we all have our pick and mine is definitely the FG. Permalink

do you like the stg44 and the type 99 lmg ?
My combat experience with both guns leads to the Type 99 over the STG. Both guns are fairly accurate (the 99 if fired in bursts) and they both have large clips. However, the 99 is much more suited to CQB with its fast firing rate. Permalink
