pistol problems

I've been trying to make a brick shooting moc pistol, however there are problems everywhere, such as how to make a slanted mag and what firing mech would be powerful and compact enough to fit in the gun. I'd greatly appreciate some help.

i have just the thing, is it alright if i build a pistol that shoots bricks to show you? cause if you wanted to be the first to do it or something, i respect that

Check out these instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcWIO2lQLIc

It's a semi-automatic brick shooting pistol, and the bricks are loaded from the handgrip.

sorry about not posting, school started and i got caught up in the back to school stuff.
Anyway the mag seems a huge problem for everyone, ive been tinkering but all the mags ive made dont look realistic enough for a moc.
I will post my Barrett mag WIP soon. It loads rounds like my Thompson mag did, only with a much bigger and completely lego round. It also holds together better.

In my pistols, I put mags in at the front, near the trigger guard. They look like laser-pointers and it works fine.

I've been brainstorming and i've found a mech that uses a hammer but is powerful the only problem is that i need compression springs, where do you guys get yours? (I need one, about 6-8 studs long.)

Why don't you use a piston? It would hang on the side, so it that bad.

{I have been editing this a bit}

There are various items to acquire springs from. Depending on what's available to you:

Official Lego:
- short small diameter Lego pneumatic spring (reliable)

Extremely cheap:
- long medium dia to large dia spiral bound notebook spring (unreliable, weak/medium, deforms easily)
- short small dia retractable pen spring (reliable, weak/medium strength)

BB gun:
- short small dia BB gun mag release spring (reliable, medium/strong)
- long small dia to medium dia BB gun recoil spring (reliable, medium/strong)
- long small dia BB gun magazine spring (reliable, weak/medium)

Real pistol (I advise to only use springs from pistols that have had them replaced or from a deactivated or non-working pistol, please don't destroy one just for the spring):
- short small dia pistol mag release spring (extremely reliable, very strong)
- long small dia to medium dia pistol recoil spring (extremely reliable, very strong)
- long NON-round magazine spring (extremely reliable, strong)

That is a great idea. I have never thought of using a notebook spring. I will have to try it.

I've got three lego springs. I got them all from a technic motorcycle set. but just look for a set that has suspension

use some springs out of some lego suspension rods (hard springs give more power obviously), then make some simple cartridges a technic connector and pin then use a lego rod the thin ones and attatch it to a brick solidly with one of those light 1x1 peices (dunno what they are called) then attatch that peice to a 2x1 block with single hole and then make a mech something like the blowback ones but attatch it to this block instead, you then need to add some complicated system that will allow the spring(s) to compress fully before the "firing" block / pin is released shooting the technic pin out of the end of the gun and leaving you to create a new mechanism to dispose of the bullet. I'd show you what i mean but that would be giving my mech away and at the moment i am trying to make it fit in my USP.

I've done it! I have made a magazine that is slanted and will fit int the gun!
However, there is almost no room left for the mech, the mag is the entire handle, and I had to "modify" 1 or 2 pieces.

I will post as soon as i find my usb cable for cam, and thanks for all who are helping.

With this done now i am moving on to the mech, as always, any help wil be very appreciated.

I've managed to fit a firing mech and a working slide to mty prototype, I'm just having trouble with the magazine

how do you make a working hammer

I used a black and yellow suspension sping

at the moment the one i have made actually takes up the same ammount of room if i make it smaller and looks cooler as the spent / used cartridges eject but the new problem i am having is that the clip in a pistol is in the handle giving me less room to work with so i might leave that and make it just a handle loading gun instead of having a mag and then make an assault rifle that has a mag with the same mech.

i think if you could fit a strong enough hammer mech into it and still be able to fit a mag in then it could work, though im probably wrong.
