When Gods Fall, Chapter One: Beginnings

[Trika outpost, seven kliks from the south's poles outskirts]
{twenty-one minutes to impact}

The commander of outpost two paced the width of the observation deck impatiently, his gold mask glimmering occasionally as the winter sun caught it.

A lone matoran stood up from a sea of identical desks that spread out from the observation port in a series of concentric semi-circles, and swiftly walked to the makuta, handing him a piece of paper.

'Facinating..so that must be the gravitational pattern..'

'Nothing like anything we've seen before.'

The makuta handed the paper back to the matoran.

'Everyone's evacuated, assuredly?'

The matoran nodded back.

'Yes...I'm just leaving now.' The matoran made to go.

The makuta turned on his heel, heading for the exit.

'I'm going to check the sensors on the ice.'

The matoran turned back, a little unsure.

'Are you sure you'll be fine, Enias?'

'Definately. Magnetically bonded armour. No stellar bodies getting through that.' The makuta disapeared down a flight of steps, and the matoran shook his head as he wondered when, if ever, he would the makuta again.

---
[outside]
{fifteen minutes to impact}

Enias checked his internal clock as he stepped through the icelock, into the wind-scarred plain of So-Axis where the gale was kicking up an icestorm. Fifteen minutes. Perfect.

Against the white backdrop fo the icestrom, the night-black maestrom of a shadow-hand teleportation could hardly be missed.

{Thirty seconds}

As Enias checked the last of the sensors, his internal clock imformed him he had thirty seconds before the object reached his location.

He quickly straightened up, wired a couple of commands to the sensors, and then began to shut himself down. He began to sink down in the ice as he vented extra head, until he was totally out of sight. His armour began to seal itself together, and each of his senses were shut down systematically, leaving only his vision.

If he had been able to hear, he would have heard the distant roar as the object reached the outermost of the planet's atmosphere, building up to a cresendo as it neared the planet.

While the sight of the debris burning up was immpressive enough, what Enias saw next was truly majestic.

A huge, egg-shaped object flaming down out of the night sky, shrieking so loud that his vision vibrated, making it impossible to see what happened next.

But it wouldn't have mattered; as the deadly cryoclastic cloud from the impact rolled over him he had already blacked out.

That day would be remembered for years to come, for the lives it took, if not for the events it set in motion.

A technician looked at the red messagge on the monitor: WARNING, P.A. SYSTEM OVERRIDE. He sighed. It was happening again. D'mrali was hacking the Intercom. He covered his ears((Do bhakarrians have Ears?)) and waited. In a few moments dubstep music would blast over the speakers.

His deed done, he checked the DO(Dangerous Objects) monitor. There was a missle heading straight towards them. He was about to sound the alarm, but the impact that occured next rendered him unconcious.

As the old, bitter man was scrounging in a junk bin for food, he saw a pamphlet; "WANTED: Anybody with combat and tracking expirience. Contact OoMn HQ for mor info." He had a life-saving thought. If the job payed handsomely, he could have enough money to buy his own food for a while, then he would get a job, and thus, his days of begging and scavving would end. He walked to the town center.

{two hours post impact}
[half a klik below ground]

Ghaile's voice carried all the chilling austerity of a Victorian governess as she silenced the crowd before; assembled in the Order's main auditorium, an impressive chamber with a huge ceiling upheld by ten thickset columns.

The crowd quieted quickly enough; her ruthless nature was known well.

'Members of the Order of Mata Nui. As you are aware, an unidentifiable object of great mass impacted with Spherus Magna's north pole's ice sheets, creating a cryoclastic cloud that has prevented Skyguard ((Satellite part of the Tomorrow)) from seeing.'

'This cloud, as of three-and-a-half minutes ago, cleared, momentarily, allowing these stills to be taken.'

Ghaile gestured to the screen behind her as it powered up. An bird-eye's view of the northern pole and the surrounding land appeared.

'Our losses are catastrophic. Approximately five hundred squares kliks have been rendered uninhabitable by a combination of debris and the force of the impact.'

Portions of the image highlighted themselves as she spoke. A specific patch of this area was magnified as she explained.

'Moments before the crash, we received what we thing was a SOS signal going through the roof. It was sourced several hundred metres from the main object. It was, we can assume, an escape pod. The object, it transpires, was a spacecraft.’

A murmur of curiousness started to build up and then died as the crowd remembered who the speaker was.

‘Our job, as Order Reconnaissance One, is to locate this pod, identify the occupants and collect any artefacts that would aid our purpose. Order Retrieval One will be on standby for any threat. I will be leading this operation, as many of you have guessed.’

‘We also have a secondary purpose; locate Enias Lesoka.’

The whole briefing had taken the best part of two hours, during which various other Order members had arrived. The full recon team now numbered something north of fourty.

Ghaile glanced at the timer on the wall.

Thirty minutes until the shuttle arrived.

The female warrior-to-be was staring at the timer, then glancing at other members of the recon team, staring at the timer again, and so on. she was fascinated at the advanced tech she saw. Suits of armor that added a couple inches to your height, swords that extended into daggers or lances, and other wonders. Ghaile watched as the various pieces of impressive equipment were prepped for loading onto the shuttle. The quality of Order gear had improved drastically after their arrival on Spherus, what with the discovery on exsidian. ((http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Exsidian))

Ghaile quickly briefed those who missed the meeting via her psionic powers and checked the timer on the wall. Ten minutes. Time to move to the landing gantry - she could feel them becoming restless.

---

The Order spire is an impressive structure, by most standards. A needle of overlapping dark metal plates that points spaceward - and took several years to build. Gantries stick out at rigid right angles, distributed apparently at random.

It is upon the highest of these gantries - right at the pinnacle - a whole klik in the air, that the Recon team now waits for their hypersonic shuttle to arrive.

[Iiko]

"Rixicus, give me a hand with the last of the supplies. There's still one med kit I need to get. Oh, and something else I think you'll like."

Coming out of his daydream, Rixicus came to the Ko-Matoran's aid with the remaining baggage. A pile of cases and containers and pressurized cylinders stood beside him taller than the both of them combined. Rixicus grabbed the med kit from Iiko's hand while the Ko-Matoran picked up a device from an adjacent container. It was a small screen with a handle and several dials.

"This, Rixicus, is a new device that I've adapted for this mission. It is exactly like a regular Transtographer Machine that you'd see in a hospital, yet portable. Look."

Iiko raised the device and waved it over his own hand, reproducing the skeletal outline of it on the screen of the device.

"This should be a great help to us in the feild for penetrated shrapnel and the like."

Rixicus was honestly not really interested about Iiko's new toy, and looked back to the clock.

"Interesting...I guess...but you should pack it up now; the shuttle'll be here any moment."

After Liko had left, Rixicus looked around at the other crew members. As always, he noticed that many of them would quickly glance away if he looked at them. People were just not used to seeing - or hearing - Vorox in a civilized environment. He looked up again, marveling at the diversity of the Recon Team. There were creatures and Magnians of all kinds. Male and female Skrall, Matoran, Toa, Skakdi, Agori, Glatorian, Vortixx, Bone Hunters, and all manner of other species. Once again, he glanced at the clock. Five minutes.

<gantry dimensions - hundred feet long by ten ft wide>

Ghaile turned to the control panel for the gantry - a square foot of dials and switches inset on the wall beside the door.
She quickly adjusted several, setting the beacon so the pilot would know where to land.

A pair of very long rails began to extend out from the gantry sides, hinged at the end of it, until they were horizontally perpendicular to the rest of, forming a T-bar.

The control panel began to emit a high-pitched rhythmic beeping - the proximity sensor. Ghaile turned to Iiko shouting 'Tell me when it gets to fifteen a sec!'
The matoran understood immediately, taking out what may have been a pocket watch and looked at it intently, listening to the beeps.

He raised his finger.

'And...NOW!'

Ghaile turned and quickly pulled a large-gripped lever the full length of the panel.

Ten seconds later, the rhythmic pulse of the proximity sensor dissolved into a drone of noise.

With a screech of metal, a blur that might have been the shuttle shot along into the right part of the T-bar at the end of the gantry. The powerful electromagnets contained within the rail struggled to bring the fast moving craft to a halt.

The shuttle stopped right bang at the centre of the gantry end.

There was a round of applause, and the team began to board.

Due to the lack of windows, and all the equipment, which mainly was Iiko's, there was little room for movement. The seats were tight and the belts tighter still.

Everything strapped down, and at Ghaile's signal, the pilot readied for takeoff.

The shuttle dropped off the T-bar nose-first, its' thin teardrop form quickly becoming a blur.

Tens seconds later, it found the right level of air friction and, with a roar of engines, started to climb

Rixicus smirked as he watched the faces of those on the shuttle. They were handling their high-speed trip at varying levels of discomfort. Some were only slightly uncomfortable, while some were desperately trying to hold themselves together. He, however, was just fine. Being a medic, he was used to travelling at this kind of speed. He often would take shuttles such as these to traverse the continent in short periods of time, such as when going to a battle or major catastrophe.

An Order shuttle is the very pinnacle of aerodynamic progress. A thin elongated teardrop with ten fins sticking out of it and powerful anti-gravity thruster bolted on the back end. Not exactly aerodynamic - but that's why the Order built the spire. It's a very powerful magnetic amplifier, thus allowing correctly equipped craft - such as our hypersonic shuttle - to swim in Spherus's magnetic field.

The first place Ghaile went to on this shuttle was the bridge. She knew the pilot quite well, and there was something she wanted to ask him.

The bridge was built in very much the style of the passenger section - how many quantum bits can you fit into a square inch. Every curved wall, the ceiling, even parts of the floor was plastered with screens and sine waves and switches and dials. The pilot's chair sat right in the middle of this chaos, the pilot - a toa of light - working frantically, all the while pausing to look out of the window - a thin ribbon of perspex that ran the length of the bridge.

'Did you hear about Enias?'

The pilot barely looked up.

'I was the first to hear about it.'

'Do you think he survived?'

The pilot turned to look Ghaile.

'Oh, come on. You're one of the people who made that mistake. He's survived worse.'

One of the various lights flashed on the instrument panel, and the pilot turned to look at it, before swearing something unprintable.

'One of your...team seems to regurgitated something into the waste incinerator.' He flung his arms in a facepalm. 'No matter how many times write above it "NO Organic Waste"...'

Ghaile made to walk out of the room, eager to escape the stuffy atmosphere. 'I'll go and check it, Haro. I'm not one to swear at them...'

She quickly walked to the incident site, dragging Ronin with her. A guilty looking glatorian of the Green stood beside a smoking incinerator. Ghaile silenced the smoke alarm with an electrical blast, indicated Ronin to fix the incinerator and waited for an explaination.

I had been keeping quiet in the shuttle for almost the whole trip. The big warrior scared me quite a bit. So I just went back to calibrating all my equipment, It's once in a lifetime you get a chance like this and I didn't want to miss any of it due to faulty tech. [Na'vesh]

Na'vesh silently treaded across the frozen landscape. Being one of the few Bhakari not (severely) harmed by the escape pod's crash, he was chosen to go scout out the surrounding area.

From what he had seen, there was very little to scout. They had obviously "landed" on either the North or the South pole, and it certainly was desolate. The vegetation was scarce, and what vegetation was there was tough and hardy. As for wildlife, there was none at all. Probably all scared away by the crash

Navesh continued to walk. After about a half hour's trek, he halted. Something had caught his eye. He scanned the horizon, looking for what had made him instinctively freeze.

There!

At the very edge of his vision, he spotted a cluster of edifices that did not look natural. He quickened his pace and headed toward them. After a while, it became apparent that the structures were created by sentinent beings!

Na'vesh marked his position and began heading back to the crash site. J'krel would want to hear about this.

Kor

I had been keeping quiet in the shuttle for almost the whole trip. The big warrior scared me quite a bit. So I just went back to calibrating all my equipment, It's once in a lifetime you get a chance like this and I didn't want to miss any of it due to faulty tech. The shuttles speed didn't bother me much, I spent most of my early years on the rapids by the river so I was quite accustomed to speed. I looked over to the big one who I heard his name was Ronin, "How did you get on this assignment?"

Enias recalculated his position. Less than one klik from the crash site. Must have got something mixed up to think it was two.

Something chirruped in the back of his mind; a small, custom subroutine that detected electronic activity. According to it, a very low-level type of transmitter was broadcasting.

He stepped up out of his crater - nearly twenty times larger than him. Just how fast had he been travelling?

He had a much better view of the ice; a desolate waste that stretched out before him. A series of small, black buildings; torn apart by the cryoclastic flow than had issued from the impact site could be seen not far away.

He rechecked the whereabouts of this intriguing transmitter. Round about there.

Bracing himself for the cold winds, he set off at a pace.

He remembered the name of this place - Kenetta Murha.

"Killing winds".

At this time, D'mrali's mind was starting to clear, and he read the note again and again. "Your journals didn't make it." It hit him. All his memories were incinerated. He was angry. Very angry. Later, when Na'vesh returned, he saw the 5" window broken, and bluish-grey blood gushing from D'mrali's fist. He wasn't sure, but he thought he heard sobbing.

((Sorry guys! My internet's down. ))

After several minutes of uncertain stumbling across the icy landscape, Enias's foot clanged down on the first sign of intelligence he'd seen in a while.

A large, bronze coloured triangle was inset deep into the snow, no markings apparent on it. Obviously a marker.

Several large footprints led up to the device, set in the snow, and it wasn't the size of the prints, but the length of the stride between them that surprised Enias. Their owner must be huge..

Bracing himself, he set off after the prints.
---
Only after a few minutes of walking, he began to catch sight of a large, long burn mark that ran perpendicular to the prints. They both led up to a curious cylindrical object, about twenty metres in length, that lay, at a rakish angle in a crater of it's own.

Intrigued, Enias made his way to it.

"D'mrali, what's up? Are you alright?"

He waited, but when D'mrali didn't respond, he decided to give him his scouting report anyways.

"Well, I don't know what's wrong, but I have some pretty exciting news that just might cheer you up. While I was out scouting, I discovered what looked like what appeared to be a large cluster of buildings. Though they looked seriously damaged, they had the semblance of a military outpost. I think we've found a planet with sentinent and advanced life forms!"

"On the downside, we appear to be on one of the planet's poles. Therefore, there will probably be no food."

Enias was somewhat experienced in the area of dealing with other lifeforms, and knew it was generally a good idea to make sure the ground you were stepping on wasn't rigged by powerful explosives brought down by mysterious alien objects simply as a friendly little defence feature.

Now he was, delicatly, trying to extract the strange disc-like objects that probably-weren't-mines-but-might-be up out of the ice using his magnetic kraata power.

Of course, after having several thousand tonnes of spaceship dropped on your head is going to do some damage to your various kraata powers...

Halfway through extraction, a large dent appeared in the pod with an almost comical *bong*.

This was enough to draw Enias's attention away from removing the could-be mines, and so, to make matters worse, they fell to the ground.

The ensuing explosion was quite impressive.

((Of course, he's not going to be dead, or unconscious. He's just survived a meteor impact!))

[Na'vesh]

With a startled hiss, Na'vesh leapt to his feet. D'mrali had just spun around in his seat and slammed his fist into the metal wall, but that wasn't what had surprised him so. What did was the massive explosion that happened outside the pod right afterward.

He walked over to the opposite end of the pod and punched in a key code. The wall opened and revealed an assortment of weapons, albeit a very limited one. He reached out and grabbed a vibrospear. He also took out a ring of keys, made especially for him, meant to throw with his telekinetic powers. Instead of keys, it was equipped with small knives and weights, and hurled at high speeds it was extremely deadly. Now that he was fully equipped, he turned to D'mrali.

"Before I came back, I planted some mines in the area to keep away any unwanted natives. J'krel and the others would have either gone around them or simply disarmed them.

Therefore, the lifeforms on this planet must have already arrived and somehow detonated every single one at once."

Na'vesh waited for a response, but none was given.

"T'm going to go check it out. I think you should come with."

((The dent in the pod was caused by Enias's magnetism power going haywire, but it doesn't matter. Just pretend D'mrali's fist was attracted by the magnetism as well.))

Enias silently berated himself, making an effort to stand up - surely his magnetism powers weren't that strong yet. No, there must have been another cause. The heat of the blast had melted most of the ice in the area, making it even more slippery. Anybody inside the craft would be wide awake now, and fully aware of his presence.

Exaimining himself carefully, he noted that most of the blast armour he'd put in place for the impact was pretty much gone. A pity - he was no longer indestructible.

Two figures, curious creatures - reptilian-esque, with brown hides and a pair of sapial legs clambered out of the pod.

One of them was holding a spear.

So much for diplomacy, thought Enias. Let's hope they understand binary...

He yanked a piece of metal wedged under his armor out and tossed it aside, rolling his shoulders a few times and stretching. "Well, that worked as well as could be expected..." He commented as he removed the stasis module from his chest plate, tossing the broken device aside like any other piece of scrap. He turned toward the crash site to search for others that may have survived like he did, calling out for anyone to answer as he went.

[Na'vesh]

Na'vesh stepped into the frozen landscape expecting anything. An army of fanatics ready to destroy any threat to their precious planet, a squad of scientists intent on dissecting them, or maybe even a tribe of terrified villagers, holding the belief that the Bhakari were gods come down to their planet from the heavens.

But he wasn't prepared to see just a single being, clad in black and orange armor and with what looked like a golden helmet. What's more, that being was still alive.

*Impressive*, Na'vesh thought. *The explosion of over twenty anti-vehicle mines at once was not enough to kill him - or it.*

After another moment's thought, he pressed a button on the shaft of his spear. The spear quickly shrunk until it was about the size of a small dagger that he placed in an aperture in his armor. He knew from past experience that the usage of weapons was not beneficial in any sort of diplomatic situation.

He did, however, keep his ring of keys out. Just in case.

Enias quietly sighed one of the figures appeared to sheathe((?)) its' spear, and stepped out onto the ice. The other figure held back, unsure. He contemplated absorbing some ice to rejeuvenate his blast armour, but makuta had never been fond consuming cold things.

Enias approached the figure similarly, and when they met a distance of ten feet, both himself and the figure stopped.

Facinating, thought Enias, how beings seeimingly from entirely different worlds have remarkably similar diplomatic protocol.

This probably would have been a thoroughly historic meeting, with Enias cracking the Bhakari language and forming a peace treaty that resulted in thousands of years of prosperity, but of course- this was never going to be that simple.

A dark shadow fell on the ice in front of Enias, and as the figure facing him began to back away from whatever stood behind him((The escaped GB from the pod)), he wondered if he should have absorbed some snow after all...

((Unowrule, if you want to control the escaped GB, you can do so. He's not going to be at full power yet, what with Bhakari security tech. Name, etc is up to you.

(( So the figure behind Enias is (instead of the GB) an ice vorox that was mutated by the Foreshadow's fusiondrive engines exploding.

Permission to delete all those unessecary comment, to unclutter?))

((Wonderful idea. But before that, I'll throw in my two cents worth. So here's how it could go:

GB sends out distress signal from main wreckage (along the lines of "Come pick me up, I'm stranded here"), which D'mrali intercepts. The trio begin to go as fast as they can to the crashed ship, which is where the GB is. The recon team is currently headed in that same direction to do whatever they were going to do. Enias, D'mrali, and Na'vesh meet up with J'krel and the others somewhere along the way and hurry to the crash site. Then when everybody has arrived at the crash site, a confrontation happens between the Recon Team and the Bhakari, with the GB egging both sides on, hoping to escape during the commotion that ensues.))

((We can figure out what to do from there.))

She awoke from the cryo tube in her pod and noticed the door wouldn't open. Deciding regrouping with the others as soon she could was the best option, she pulled herself to the back wall of the tube andforced herself forwards through the glass. After surveying the pod finding the the other occupants were dead she picked up a transmitter and said on an open frequency "This is your captain J'krel, are the any other survivors?"

((@ClkHop: The GB can be pyscically manipulating both sides when they arrive at the crash site.))

Enias, had he been in a different situation, would have been intensly interested in the curious sqauks that his receiver was picking up ((J'krel's signal)), but he was currently trying to dodge the deranged melee of a somewhat mutated ice vorox.

It was a interesting example of what radiation can do to a creature. It was definately bigger than it should be, had two tails and appeared to have an extra eye. All very amusing, but not exactly the freindliest creature ever.

Enias, carefully ducking the creatures's various blows, decided to back away towards the escape pod, drawing the creature closer to the newcomers. It would be interesting to see what they were capable of.

D'mrali saw it first. A large, hulking, fanged beast easily taller than the tall, double-jointed Bhakari, was meandering about, chasing a creature((Einas)) with an odd, metalic "face"((his Krakkahn)). He quickly, fluidly picked up Project Vorpal and made haste to the scene.

[Na'vesh]

Na'vesh watched the spectacle before him with amusement.

Some large, hulking beast with three eyes and two tails with massive stingers had materialized behind the strange native and seemed intent on removing his (or its) head.

The native was dodging the beast's attacks with ease, but was steadily losing ground.

D'mrali had already made his move, picking up his sword and hurrying toward the two. He was obviously intent on assisting the native.

Na'vesh weighed his options. One option was to jump into the fray with his spear. But that would require at least some effort, and the crash and his long trek had really worn him out.

Alternatively, he could do nothing. He didn't want to do that, as this wouldn't send a good impression to the native.

Instead, he chose a third option. He drew back his arm and tossed his "ring of keys" into the air. Then, with a gesture, he triggered his powers over telekinetics.

The ring whistled through the air, flying directly at the monster's face.

To his astonishment, the creature with the metallic, almost alligator-like face((D'mrali has yet to grasp the concept of Kanohi masks, which is why I have something planned having to do with his appearance...)) dissipated in a hand-shaped cloud of red smoke! Enias observed that while the creature was dying, it was certainly going to that slowly. The female evidently had not see the vorox's second tail, and so thus, he decided to act.

Raising his hand, he prepared to unlease a precise burst of disintegration lightning at the vorox's tail blade.

What actually happened was slightly different.

A magnetic pulse swept out from Enias's hand, removing the tail...

And snatching every one of the newcomer's weapons out of their hands, far enough to be out of reach.

Oh dear, thought Enias. This will not look good.

Things were certainly out of hand. Everybody was getting out of control. D'mrali and J'krel seemed intent on attacking the newcomer, the monster had been very messily killed, and his transmitter was picking up a strong signal, seemingly from the main crash site.

Worst of all, he couldn't find his keyring.

Somebody had to take control here, and he seemed to be the only one who was level-headed enough to do it.

Extending his arms toward the three combatants, he activated his powers over telekinesis and lifted them all high into the air, effectively separating them. Next, he opened his mouth and emitted an earsplitting roar.

Enias calmly submitted to the what he assumed was the diplomat amongst these creature, it's telekinetic powers lifting him - and those around him into the air.

This was a fortunate turn of events - he would not have to employ force to defend himself, and it would give him an opportunity to communicate. He checked the recording of the curious signal he'd recieved during the ice vorox attack ((J;krel's signal)), and set about internally examining it. Perhaps it contained these strange newcomers language...

He noticed something in the ice; a ring of keys? Hadn't he seen the diplomat using them?

Slowly, now, aware of the potential risk, he carefully manipulated his magetism power so as to lift the ring up out of the ice, and sent it gently spinning at the diplomat, the keys landing at the alien's feet.

((Done and interesting...I shall think more about it's role when I start using Valces, etc. We still have nearly another chapter until then, though. Here's how I see the outline:

Ch. 1: Everyone meets for the first time; alliances are made and bridges burned. The Recon team sends back word to the rest of SM.

Ch. 2: Bhakarians impersonated GBs, while their deception is investigated, only to be prooven with the actual GBs' appearance (The Vanguard Lands)

Ch. 3: The GBs of the Vanguard and the Bhakarians fight, ignoring the actions of the Magnians for the most part. Valces/another GB uses the Red Star...to eliminate the Bhakarians? (something like that; we'll see)

So, this chapter should come to a close with Enias finding some method of communication, however rudimentary (Stick in the snow, even), the Recon team showing up, and at the very end, the GB survivor making an appearance. I figure he can be injured somehow, be unconcious, have the Bhakarians claim he's the enemy and that they are the real GBs (In chapter 2, that is). ))

((Quite. These are how I see the ship specs:

The Foreshadow is the ship that crashed into the pole. It is a Class 3 Military Transport ship with Class 2 Weapons equipped.(Essentially, a medium-strength troop carrier) There was only a crew of 10-15 GBs on board, of which only 3-4 were kept as prisoners by the Bhakarians.

The Aurora is a smaller flapship acting as a satilite to the Vanguard. It is only Class 2 with Class 3 Weapons. It's crew is headed by GB Merinalas and a 50-75 assorted-species crew.

The Vanguard is a Class 5 full-fledged Battle Ship (Star Destroyer, if you will :P), equipped with Class 4 Weapons and a full crew of 500 GBs, as well as a 3000 assorted-species crew.

The Aurora will most likely return to the Vangaurd in Ch. 2 to pick up Valces, who will definitely appear in Ch. 3.))

The instant the female sent the message to Enias's mind, he knew.

You see, when someone trys to psychically connect with another individual, it opens a little door in their mental barriers, which an oportunistic makuta can easily use to find out what he wants.

Enias's conscious mind swept into J'krel's, only for a moment, capturing a snapshot, a photographic plate, containing the contents of her psyche.

It created some impressive mental friction on both their parts, but they only gained more energy for that, any excess sparking off their bodies as spindly fingers of white lightning - but again, this happened only for a moment.

Enias finally spoke - the first native of the Matoran Universe to speak this brand new language-

For once in his life, Enias was totally speechless. How do you approach an alien race?

"We are Bhakari, we were shot down by the Great Beings who came to our world and tried to kill us all... if you'll excuse me one of my crew wants me." J'krel then walked over to the other Bhakari

((I thought powers varied by tribe? A'zaiah is different from her, and has Teleportation))

((J'krel is a captain, and in bhakari society, ranking leaders get extra elemental powers augumented on top of their natural ones. I'm toyinh with the idea of the leader shaving the ability to share the powers of other bhakari - so if a teleportation bh'kari is near, they will have teleportation powers. I'll see what Vulcan says.

In J'krel's case, she has teleportation as an augumented one.

Hmm. Bh'kari. That's an idea and a half..))

Enias grinned. Not in a nice way.

"Great Beings?! You! No, great beings look completely different and speak a completely different language. I assure you, I know. That signal you're reciving is a great being class-two encrypted transmission. Don't play games with me."

He placed his hands on D'mrali's bonds, and they began to mitigate, loosing their tangibility.

"So if you're not great beings, who are you?"

[Na'vesh]

Na'vesh grinned back, just as unfriendly.

"Looks like you're the creation of our most hated foes. That's just wonderful."

"So, about that signal. You said it was a Great Being transmission. Who would be sending off one of those?"

He shot a glance at J'krel.

"J'krel, who would be sending a Great Being transmission from a Bh'kari crash site?"

"And most importantly, what does it say?"

D'mrali chuckled. Once again, J'krel's haste led her to an embarrassing situation. Now that his hands were untied, he shook Enias' hand((I think handshakes among Bhakari are a sign of apology and reconciliation. Vulcan, I'll need your opinion on that.)) and walked over to the hilltop where his Vibrosword was.

"possibly one of the prisoners survived, but the message is encrypted, I can't tell what their sending"
she tossed the transmitter to D'mrali "Maybe you can break their encryption"
she turned to Enias "we are going to see who is sending the message, if you would like to join us there is a chance you could meet your maker

Hacking and "Codebusting" as he calls it, is child's play to D'mrali. All he need do is plug the USB cord tucked in his back into the mechanism. He brought out his portable audio translator, and tuned it to "GB > Bhakari" He listened intently. After about 30 mins., he said grimly, "They're going to land".

"... yes, but in their current state it would be faster on foot. Oh and I'd prefer if you didn't invade my thoughts when I use my telepathy."
After saying that she walked away with a sickening grin.

Enias turned away from the group of aliens, and, making sure they weren't watching, unleashed his shadow-hand on the pod's engines.

A minature claw-shaped tornado of shadow erruped out of his chest, engulfing the back end of the pod entirely. Enias quickly absorbed the thrusters and their anti-grav cubes, storing them in his gaseous antidermis innards. They could come in useful later.

He then quickly started following the aliens, catching up with them.

So. One klik to the crash site. That isn't so far, he thought...

Ghaile was awoken from her mediative state by the soft blooping of the destination-proximity sensor. Her ears pricked up; only ten minutes to the drop-off point. She could already feel the hypersonic craft beginning to decelarate as it neared the crash site.

Slowly, her limbs stiff from four hour's worth of sitting cross-legged, she stretched, standing up lightly. Most of the crew had started readying their gear and preparing their curious suits.

A lone ko-matoran stepped out from behind a chaos of cylinders and brief-cases, and approached her, holding what could have been an oversized signal decoder.

"Ah, commander - I am picking up a most curious signal..."

((Ben, if you so wish, this ko-matoran can be your character, Iiko.))

"These readings are quite...interesting. I'd best show these to a superior."

Iiko stood up from his makeshift desk, a Med kit container with a lamp, and navigated the debris of the sonic craft towards the other passengers, spotting Commander Ghalie.

"Ah, commander - I am picking up a most curious signal..."

Ghalie sood up and stooped beside Iiko, lurching with the ship's turbulence.

"What is it exactly?"

"Well, it's very faint, but I can tell it's coming from the crash site."

"A distress signal perhaps?"

"That's the oddest thing. It is."

"What's odd about that?"

"Well, it's odd because...it's in Matoran."

Ghaile scrutinised Iiko's decoder.

"Well, it'll have to get up a couple of kilocyclee to pierce the upper atmosphere..."

The medic shook his head.

"Oh no. Far less. The impact will have displaced most of the ozone above thei ice caps, so about a maximum of half an hour before it reaches space."

Ghaile looked thoughtful, then stood up, stock straight.

"Could it be..." she whispered to herself.

"Great Beings?"

((AAAAAND CUT! That's a wrap I'd say for Chapter 1. It's just gotten a bit long.

So, final overview:

1) The Recon team is assembled and will be on site at the beginning of the next chapter, searching the ruined outpost, and scouting the crash site.

2) Enias has confronted the first of the Bhakarians, J'krel, and saw the attempt at deception immediately. Perhaps he is the one to call them GBs to the Recon team? Some sort of indirect deception?

3)The lone GB has yet to be found. The antics following his discovery will be the meat of next chapter, i.e. Kor's hybridization.

And without further ado, I shall open the next chapter..."The Fall"))
