I just got promoted, for the purpose of making this, a potential new story for those waiting on Bota Magna. Let the ideas flow!

1)We brainstorm on ideas, until a couple of people agree on something.

2)We vote on the agreed topic(s), until a majority agrees the topic is good and appropriate for the 'pages.

3)We name the new story, and repeat step 2 for this.

4)You make your characters.

5)I start the new story with title and all(provided we came up with a name). And Rules/Tips apply.

how bout this. we do a story where the great beings have decided to walk among the inhabitants of spherus magna. this is either in the no too distant future from the ending of the storyline or before it all begins and pretty much the great beings are popping up and either destroying villages or something like that or helping people. Does that sound good?

Sure, not a bad idea, there could be good or bad beings, and some of the denizens of Spherius could form a bit of an army to contend w/ the bad beings.Whaddya think? The army could be NPCs and/or players.

I was really hoping that instead of just sphereus magnians vs. great beings it could be a bit more complex than that like some of the great beings could quickly gather followers and create factions. and the great beings are benevolent or malevolent and some are even friendly to the inhabitants.

That Great Being idea fits in PERFECTLY with what I had planned:

Name: Baiazethes(Baay-azz-eth-eez)
Race: Great Being
Species: Lumen(light-affiliated)
Powers: Typically, light focused. Great Beings can share their abilities, but only if they wish to do so.
Biography:

"Baiazethes...was not one of the original colonists to arrive on the fragmentsof what our records show was called "Spherus Magna." When our ship touched down on the healthier looking fragment, he was already there...we know nothing of him since our meeting him, and he has revealed nothing so far."

-Captain's log, Great Being spacecraft "The Quandry"

Yeah...basically, my character was already on Bota Magna when these new Great Beings arrived to assess the damage to Spherus Magna.

How he got there, etc: spoilers!

Again not that simple instead of it being a regional leadership thing of the great beings it's just lot's of factions and there's no one side with everybody on it. It's mainly supposed to be like tribe wars but certain GBs will be solo and GBs should have varying levels of power and have the ability to appear in many formes. and certain Gbs will have collected small groups of their own so it's not just everybody vs GBs.

I know that, but this army I'm talking is a major faction, as well as a collection of "bad" GBs, and neutral GBs gathering cult outfits to worship them,(if they want)and most PCs will be the Beings.I've never heard of Tribal Wars, though. This is on Spherius, right?

Meh. Everyone grabbed onto one idea and just ran with it instead of coming up with their own. What about something that doesn't sound ridiculous. Also, if I recall, after the Baterra failed to shut down(still have to deal with them xP), the Great Beings made a fail safe should the toa leave the Mata-Nui robot and attempt to conquer Spherus-Magna. It was another weapon, designed to to destroy every single toa on Spherus-Magna, and was unleashed when they all arrived. :/

I quite like the idea of having the Great Beings in a storyline, but I think, as of so far, it's a little underdeveloped.

There were not that many Great Beings on Spherus Magna, only a few hundred at the beginning, and after the Shattering most of them died, or were forced into hiding like the GB on Bota Magna, or Angonce.

I have been considering various possibilities that included GBs for my own storyline, so here's the one that seems appropriate for your ideas:

It has been several years since the Reformation(shall we call it?) of Spherus Magna. The matoran and agori cultures, while still tense with each other are nonetheless thriving. A golden stalemate has been achieved-not peace, but close enough.

This is shattered(heh, pun) by the sudden collision of what at first seems like a meteorite at the north pole of the planet. Everything within 500 miles is instantly vaporised, and a good 1,000 miles put at risk. A team is quickly put together by the still uneasy Mata-Agor Alliance to look for survivors.

They find a heavily damaged great being ship. Their calculations suggest they came from outside the system, and while at their weakest, the Beings still show altruism. They claim to have been shot down, and seem peaceful enough, but are they really who they seem? As tensions rise, old pacts are broken, secrets revealed, and these new comers finally unveil there true, horrifying intentions...

So y'can see: two sides(maybe more?)

The Great Beings
The Rescue Team
and possibly
An anti-GB cult who could incite the newcomers.

Now this. This is good. This is why I joined this way back when, with the Isle of Thorns starting up, etc. I could totally see this pan out. Personally, I vouch for some along these lines.

Also, something that I realized that is important:
We should make the chapters smaller, and have set dates, perhaps, as to when they end. Like a chapter a month or something. And no more hundred-comment threads.

I agree with you there; the chapters should be a lot smaller, so people don't get bored.

One problem, though: this storyline was intended to be my story-line's sequel to the grand finale and final explanation...to everything.

So "Mandragora" would have to appear, and two other characters. But I can kill 'em off or something.

Plus someone would definitely have to be the ship's captain.

You are a genius! I don't really like the 'malevolent intentions' idea, how about this:
The GBs went to a different planet after they left Spherius, they forgot the location in relativity to their new home. so a major scrying effort takes place, involving records, teloscopes and study of energetic fields. they then waited a century or so for mata nui to do his work, than they flew a ship tho the confirmed location(similar to the Tomorrow).
they then get worshipped as gods by the mato-agor society. Then some GBs want to act devil-like, destroying settlements as they please. Some could develop a God Complex. This is when the conflict sets in.btw, what does altiusm mean?

Y'see, your idea is a simplified version of my original one. So if it does go ahead on your's, I will not be able to partcicipate in the RP, nor will I be able to use it at a later date, beacause I'll look like a copier.

And your suggestion does look suspiciously similar to my first.

I think we should decide which story we're doing before we get on to that.

And as far as I am aware, the person whose idea gets picked is able to decide on things like that, E.g, the ship in the Bota story was Ben's idea, so he got to choose the name of the ship.

Once we've decided on which idea, I/You/someone else'll start a character thread, in which we can decide on things like that.

I've been gone for a few days and it seems my original idea for a story has been pretty much derailed. I was hoping instead of it being known how the GBs started appearing it was a little more unknown. Like instead of a ship crashing with them on board (at least that's what I've gathered.) it starts with one appearing without warning and laying waste to a village then wandering away before the team dispatched to investigate gets there. After that more start to pop up either helping or harming those lesser beings they come in contact with. There will of course be other GBs who could ignore both and have their own motives but still that's the main role of the GBs in my idea for the story. Anyone else like this?

If I may interject with some organization:

It sounds like there is some general agreement about a basic plotline of Great Beings coming to Sphereus Magna sometime after the Reunification of Bara Magna.

I think the real defining elements of the story are basically:
1) Who the Great Beings really are
2) How they come to Sphereus Magna
3) What their purpose is and
4) How the Toa/Matoran/Agori react

I think everyone can debate these issues and get some real story developement going. I'm honestly looking forward to some writing for this story.

The reason space is used so often is cause its so cool. Besides, I'm not talking about drop pods, I mean they actually DROP WITH LITTLE MORE THAN THEIR ARMOR. From the mato-agor point of view, it seems like they appear out of thin air, or teleported.

1)The real, in-the-flesh GBs
2)Orbital drops from a orbiting ship' the
"Harbinger"
3)To check in on spherius' condition
4)They originally worship them as living gods but then fear them when many of them go maniacal, developing a God Complex(when you go on a extreme power trip, destroying anything you want without obstacle.).

dude, space is awesome and all but I think your missing the point. ( and taking me a little too seriously) which would you think is scarier? A loud noise and something dropping out of the sky? or you're going about your day and suddenly and you hear a wrenching sound that seems to come from everywhere then a flash and this giant thing comes out of nowhere and begins to destroy everything?

dude, space is awesome and all but I think your missing the point. ( and taking me a little too seriously) which would you think is scarier? A loud noise and something dropping out of the sky? or you're going about your day and suddenly and you hear a wrenching sound that seems to come from everywhere then a flash and this giant thing comes out of nowhere and begins to destroy everything?

I'm so sorry. I've been skipping details. I don't this thing to be "scary". I just want this to be cool. And orbit drops are dead silent. GBs are not big(they are only 1 1/3 taller than the average toa). I've already set a character aside for my storyline. And do GBs really have to be evil? Eventually, yes, but from the outset? No!

I wasn't thinking scary at all I just think the event of a being who's supposed to be a "god" to most matoran suddenly appearing should be frightening at least and I don't mean all of them are evil just the first one is and that sets a tone for the story because the people of sphereus magna will then be set against the GBs even though they're not all evil. And since when do great beings have a set height? They should be able to have many forms or appear as they like. and I'm just nit-picking here but how does a large object moving faster than the speed of sound and burning through the atmosphere not make a sound?

An explanation for the silence: 1 word: Technology. And my hopes was that they would all be good from the start, but many would THEN turn evil, from insanity. Can we compromise on that, at least?

Base factions for my story:
Evil GBs
Good Beings=Mato-agor/toa= army, "Project Athens"?
Neutral GBs varying cult organizations.

Major locales:
The "Harbinger"
Bara Magnian desert
(Rain)Forest/Jungle
Oceana, Remaining islands
Possibly some caverns

Yeah, but the GBs, always manage to find a loophole. How else do you explain shadow telportarion? Besides, why so skeptical?

*Ahem*

My storyline was originally NOT going to be a piece of RP, so I had pretty much all the elements worked out:

The Great Beings simply announce themeselves as Great Beings.

They hit the north pole of the planet at great
(heh, moar punz)speed, and claim to have been shot down

Ohh, I can't reveal their purpose...now THAT would absolutely ruin my storyline...

And how do you think the Matoran and Agori react? Really, you can't expect them to be welcomed with opened arms...

As I have said, it's impossible for me to discuss the elements of my storyline because if mine is not chosen I will not be able to use it as I will have explained it plot devices.

If you can't have mystery, what's the point of the storyline?

Meteoar physics: an object the size of a mountain impacted on the surface of Jupiter

It released a million million megatonnes of energy and created a hole in the planet, temporarily, that was the size of planet Earth

1 Gb=1/1000th of a mountain? Factor in less speed

Roughly 1,000 megatonnes released on impact.

-sighs- OK, fine, the impact makes noise. the Mato-Agor reaction would be suspicious at first, but after the GBs demonstrate some "miracles", then the society welcomes them.

You know, Mandagoria(the character) doesn't HAVE to be in this RP. You could use Blathezthes. And it will have mystery 'cause the Mato-agor have NO idea where the GBs came from. Also, how can we RP if we you are the only person who knows the whole story?

...And these new GBs could try raising an army against The Mata-Agori Alliance....

But not too many factions; it might get confusing.

I thought it was supposed to be vice versa.

Seriously, I know! I'm seriously excited to see how this grand plot goes, Architect's, mine or otherwise.

I was about to do that. Not to be a jerk, but the mod/admin should do the forum-making.
