MocOlympics matchups Round 4

Sorry for taking so long, gang...but work had me on the road with no access to a computer. I just completed making the last call on round three, and have copied Chris' new list for you below. Good luck to all, and thanks so much for your patience!

From Chris...

You worked hard and won over your judges in round 3! Welcome to round 4! Best of luck to all of you.

Please read and understand ALL the following. If you have ANY questions or need clarification on something, be sure to ask.

NO LDD. Real Lego ONLY.

NOTHING that you have built previously may be used in ANY way. ALL portions of your build MUST be new. (Sig-figs are acceptable)

Round start date: September 23rd (MOCpages Time). No entries posted before this date will be accepted.

Round End date and time: Sunday, October 3rd at 11:59 USA Eastern Standard Time. No MOCs posted after this time will be accepted.

For your entry to be valid, you must post it in the group AND post a link to it in the round 4 entry thread (group A or B depending on your group) Once your entry is posted in the thread it may NOT be changed. I strongly suggest getting feedback from others on the post before adding the link… just in case something needs to be changed.

In your entry, you MUST have a link to either your opponent’s MOC OR their homepage (depending on who posts first. Not rocket science on which one you need…)

Title: Your entry must be titled as follows.

Please note: We are dropping the A,B, C thing. You can still put it there if you’d like but it’s not a requirement anymore. You are now only in either group 1 or 2.

MocOlympics Round 4 Group (your group) (your name) vs (Opponent’s name)

Abbreviations are acceptable.

You may add your own title to your moc in the description.

You MUST (somewhere near the beginning of the post) tell us what category you’re in. You don’t need the full description, but the title of the category is needed.

Judges: Each group will have three judges for each match for this round.

The judges for group one are Lee Jones, Chris Phipson and Dennis Price.

The judges for group two are Mr. Bones, Yuri Fassio and Mark Kelso

You must get two votes to advance to round 5.

The judges are not required to give explanations for their votes. All they are “required” to do is put “I vote for you” or “Your opponent.” If they choose to tell you why they chose one over the other, that’s their choice.

Here’s how the brackets work… (again)

All the players are divided into groups. Those groups will battle it out until each group has a winner. The winner of group 1A will go against 1B. 1C will go against 1D and so on. Group 2 will follow the same pattern. The winner of 1A/B will go against 1C/D and then a group 1 winner will be declared. That player will then play against the winner of group 2 (who again, were following the same pattern) to determine the 2010 MocOlympics Champion!

Good luck to all of you and may the best MOCcer win!

Round 4 Matchups

Group 1

Stuart Delahay
vs
Uspez Morbo

Short Story - "Spastle Adventures!" Mix Castle and Space to tell us an imaginative and wondorous story.

Stuart Lucas
vs
John Dawn

“Historical Vignette”. Build a vig that represents a historical event. (all vigs are 8x8, fig scale. parts of the MOC can go beyond the base border as long as they don't touch ground. Please keep within the “spirit” of the 8x8 base. There’s been people “stretching” this a bit recently. It’s still allowed, but the closer you keep it to the 8x8 the better your chances for advancing.)

Chuke Lapman
Vs
Spencer the Soccer Player

Lego Wear - "MOCieval Times". build some medieval LEGO battle gear. Swords, axes, armor plating, helms, shields, whatever you can think of. (Human scale please) You must include pics of you (or someone you can con into it) wearing/holding the item.

Heath Flor
Vs
Nicks Bricks

"Tech at work": Build 2 to 4 modern construction vehicles, then design a futuristic mech to substitute all of them. A comprehensive group shot would be nice, but it's not a basic requirement.

Dave Kaleta
vs
Andrew Somers

"Mechadoom!". Use your micro/nanoscaled mechas to assault a city/base/installation. (Mech - Micro/nano scale)

Caleb McCoy
vs
Sebeus l

"Book Ends" Create the coolest looking book ends you can, and include a shot of them holding a batch a books in place. You all DO remember books right? It’s what they used to read (I mean, use as coasters) before the internet.

Giovanni Seynhaeve
vs
Bing Bong Bros

"Delirium". Create what may be described as a completely freak and unreal hallucination.

Parrington Levens
Vs
Tyler Halliwell

"Rube Goldberg" Make a Rube Goldberg Machine out of Lego. It's up to you if it's an actual "working" one or if you use a "fake" one as the focal point of a story.

Okay, I just cut and pasted from Chris' email to create the list above, but it looks to me like he might have missed "Group 2." I think placement is pretty obvious by this point, but I'll drop him an email to check, and one of us will correct the typo. Just dotting the "I's" and crossing the "T's" here.

I was hoping I could avoid building a landscape for this round but if it's for the sake of Spastle (always wanted to build something Spastle!) then it's totally worth it! Looks like a lot of great categories this round, should be most excellent.

History vignette? I can't remember what happened last week most of the time. Seriously, this should be an interesting one - and I'm amazed I got to round 4 without using a Minifig yet!

Can't resist saying - John Dawn, you're history. But good luck anyway!

An excuse to build some spastle! And to tell a story? Me? I think I may struggle with the 'short' part of short story! Already got some ideas and i'm intrigued to see what Uspez does for this too. Good luck all.

if I may say so, we are about to have a baby here, due next theusday...don't panic, I will compete with the Bing Brothers of Bong since they already lost an oponent last round. But if the event should occur before the end of round five, I will post whatever I've build and freely accept my defeat. Never thought I'ld make it untill here anyway. Good luck Bro's!

If you're that confused still, just take a look at Garth's "Harry Potter Bookends" This should be a good example.

Congrats to Gio? What did he do, but plug tab "A" into slot "B" nine-months ago. What about the man's poor wife that has had to nurture and carry his spawn around for nine-months?

Congrats to Gio's wife I say! The woman deserves a medal.

I hear ya man! Vehicles are a pretty bad subject for me. It's gonna be hard to make them not look like the official LEGO sets too. I mean what variations can you put on a construction vehicle realistically?? A dump truck is going to be a dump truck no matter what....you can't even add lasers! LOL

Well they did say that getting a pic of them in a group isn't required. I doubt I will be able to. Build one vehicle at a time and make sure you take good pics before tearing it down and building the next one.....that will be my plan if I can't find enough pieces.

well it's a little more complicated than that Doc, since tab A doesn't function properly, so a few doctors were involved too...rather kinky, not? Anyway...you should know...
