Clarifications for the curious #1
 Group admin
These are the answers to some questions you have asked us, or asked yourself, or that you should have been asking :)

"Why did we need an additional link to our page to sign up?"
1- to show you can post a link in a thread
2- to show you can read and follow the rules

"Why did you make R1 an eliminatory?"
Since we wanted the largest group of people possible to compete we couldn't hope to get an even 64, 128 or the unlikely 256 to fit the Versus brackets. So we made R1 "free for all" and (depending on the number of DQs and drop-outs) only the top 64 will pass to R2

"Why all the different categories if those players are not grouped, but pooled together anyway?"
We didn't want to review 130 and change versions of the same MOC.
So we batched you in groups of 6 (made sense when R1 started).
Also, from R2 to the final match, NO CATEGORY WILL BE USED TWICE. That's right, we have TONS of them. And tough ones at that.

"Why did you use "Young-Style" categories in R1?"
1- We needed many and fast once we decided for the eliminatories, and they're incredibly fast to create. Just think of a phrase and write it down.
2- They don't force you to a type of build, so you can play your strengths in R1 to show us what you got. from R2 it WILL be tough.

"Why did we need a link in the "official Entries" Thread, instead of just adding the MOC to the group?"
1- for your safety: we gave you one MORE chance to check out your MOCs for errors. Of course so many of you didn't do it that we were forced to be lenient in some cases (but that's the last of it, I guarantee it. Look at my eyes, they're my "serious" eyes).
2- for the judges' convenience. It's far easier to keep track of a thread than of the group's pool.
3- to see if you can abide to the rules. Yes, this was also kept in account.

"Why did we need a link to the group's main page in our MOCs?"
1- to show us you CAN create such a link, since in the Versus games you will be required to post a link to your opponent's page. The principle was to prevent people from having their opponent DQ'd because of a missing link. I can assure you that when you sweat blood for an entry and you don't get an actual match it's no fun at all.
2- same reason as always, to see if you could follow the rules, in order to reduce DQs in R2. We really hope you learned your lesson.

"why are you people hosting side-events for the MOC Olympics?"
Because we want the MOC Olympics experience to be fun even for those who lose. If you don't feel like entering one don't worry, in time there will be several to choose from, maybe even AFTER the games end.

Presuming what Chris said here: http://mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=12864&topicid=54180 still stands. We have to wait 'til the 26th. :)

Final scores are posted. If you scored below 15, you are done. Thanks for playing. If you scored 15, well.....we have a 6 way tie for the last 6 spots. So, the Good Doctor Jones will score the 6 tied at 15 and the top 3 will advance to the round of 64.....good luck!

ooh winter games, i got to be part of those

They should be fun, I am going to run them like the NCAA Tournament. Pitting a #1 seed against a 16 and so forth, more to come on that after these games conclude.

Good question. There will be a seeding round that not only establishes who the 64 will be, but will also seed them based on score. I will put out full rules in November.

Yes, that means you're eliminated. The lowest scores to make it through to the next round was a 15. But don't forget about the side-events. Phippy started one today. Just head on over to the conversation section and click on the "Phip Phip - Hooray!" convo, and have some fun!

thank you for the info, but unfortunatly I won't be able to participate in the side-events, they sound interesting, but right now I am tied up, and not able to. Again thanks for confirming that, and it has been great to atleast take part in the olympics. I'll just wait till next year, by the way, if you are one of the higher heads in the group or you have connections to the higher heads, could you/ they consider, beginning, the olympics, late May, or early June, even if it's possible, it would be very much appreciated, if I would get feedback. :)

I wish I were higher up, but i'm just a lowly competitor. I'm sure the admins will read over your comment and take heart to what you said.

Actually, a lot of planning goes in to all the different mocpages wide events that take place during the year so that they don't overlap each other. We've got the MocAthalon in the late winter/spring, the MOCie awards spring to early summer, and then late summer is the Olympics time frame. And don't forget all the smaller events taking place throughout the year. It's all a big puzzle that fits together nicely.
