OK, please listen to me. For the last 4 days we have been DQing folks for not following the rules. Before you post your entry in the official thread, CHECK IT! Make sure you have the proper link, and that it works, check and then re-check your title, and for goodness sake, take the time to get clear photos.

It's funny how people fail to read the rules..
no, actually it's not funny,
dude, I'm happy I'm not a moderator in this group :p
everyone asking questions which can be easely answered by just...reading...the rules...

maybe next time you (admins) should say loud and clear "Don't read the rules" that might have better result.
oh, and make that sentence a link to the rules, and capital letters, you get the point, that it catches the eye

yeah...the chosen one... I really must get started now,
the most difficult about this category is that it's called "Bring me the Chosen one"

it would be so much easier if it was just "the Chosen One"

I have an idea already though and some new developped techniques :)

So, when you have a test at school do you expect the teacher to give you a sheet of paper with all the answers? In other words, no. It is up to the players to figure this stuff out.

We did, Shannon.
This year's rule about posting your entry in the "Official Entries" thread was introduced SPECIFICALLY for this reason.
So you build the MOC, take your pics, upload the page, then, in all safety (because no judge will come there before it's in the thread) you cross-check it with the rules to see if everything is as it should before posting the link.
And might I point out that it seems to work, seen how the DQs have been very few.
It looked like there were more because they were concentrated in the first couple of days.
So go on, you can afford to be forgetful, as long as you're careful :)

A lot? Hmm... the only ones I've seen do it are Stu (that's because he's English), Parrington (because he's Australian), myself (because I'm only half-English and wish I was whole), and Bones himself (because he's just a classy son of a gun like that). Try it some time, it makes you feel cool.

Ahhh, you're all so kind. In the Midlands, we might even lower the cool factor further by giving it some "Cheers me dears, i'm just off to splash me boots" and Parrington, you're a star - I now know that Bugger is not moderated, ya flamin great gullah!

Cheers is how we say "thanks" in New Zealand. I never use it here because Americans seem to use it as a greeting and I didn't want to confuse anybody... at least Bones does anyway, so I assumed that was how it was used in USA. Now I know its just cos he's a little bit posh. (or trying to be)

My British, Aussie, and Canadian customers use it more as an ending salutation than a thanks. Whereas I end my business e-mails with "Best regards" they use "Cheers".

Oh yes, we use it as a utility term. It covers hello, goodbye, thanks and of course the traditional toast as Spaztastic points out above.

So cheers for that!

I don't really comment on grammar or spelling since Swedish is my native language. But I just realized that "would of" in many MOCs actually mean "would have". I only thought of it as typos before and I don't mind mistyping or even bad spelling but this is just some kind of phonetic representation. Very confusing.

Im not putting this in the questions thread because it isnt about the Moc Olympic. What is a steampunk creation?
| August 13, 2010, 6:28 pm
Steampunk is a type of speculative fiction usually taking place in the Victorian era. It is usually a vehicle of some sort that is powered by steam, and done in the style of the Victorian era. For more ideas of what a steampunk style creation looks like, I suggest searching 'steampunk'.

Ok everyone im sorry. i never intended my comments to be taken this seriously. I would like for people to just disregard this behavior. Im not going to make jokes anymore (really no one should) because they are taken too seriously. Once again i apologise I dont want to be seen as an enemy here.

If we get something like 26 more entries, then the necessary quota for the DQs to be allowed back in is filled.

You are not seen as an enemy here. Your apology is accepted. There is nothing wrong with joking, you just need to learn time, place and whom your 'joking' with. Everyone is here to compete and have fun, so on with the games!~H

Nice! I notice a lot of people make a sig that doesnt look like them. My sig fig is coming soon and has white strips on the pants just like myself

^Don't be! The categories are typically a ton of fun, even if you get one you don't like. I know I had a blast last year, which led to my first ever cliff face, my first ever microscale, and a flying chainsaw wielding gardener clone.

by everyone you mean the 74 who didn't enter or post? like i said in another conversation, you should of entered, i think you would of done great, then again seeing how long that mech took you maybe this isn't just your speed, no fence.

Funny how quality takes time...Unlike other people, I am capable of determining whether or not 'real life' will interfere with my ability to fulfill such an obligation as a contest with the potential for running the better part of 2 months. And I don't commit to something I can't see through. Besides, you should be happy you won't have to face me, little one.~H

At least you're used to it: This'll be my first time in years building anything. And I mean anything.

Ah well, hopefully I can get through the next round by the skin of my teeth, but if that goes on for too long I won't have skin left on my teeth. If that makes sense.

Funny how you say you tried to stop an argument, and then proceed to deliberately start up a new one.

All? I'm really not getting that vibe from him. Heath's a pretty nice guy from what I've seen. I'm guessing he's ticked at Recon Sniper for the whole 'I'm Dropping Out' thing, and you repeatedly stepped in to defend someone he viewed as wrong. Then you tried to claim the moral high ground, and 'subtly' declared him as being a trouble maker and the cause of the argument.
