Are sets allowed to be used in the entries just wondering?

That's actually a good question (gasp) so I'll take a second to explain...

The short answer is... sorta yes. While it REALLY depends on what category you have as to what you can and can't use. Let's say for example you got some kind of vehicle category and you decided to post a set as your entry. You would be laughed at and your opponent would continue on to the next round while you hung your head in shame.

On the other hand though, let's say you got some sort of star wars category where you had to tell a story. You build a huge dio of a hanger bay and want to put in some ships to spruce it up. You happen to have three or four V-wing fighter sets and you want to use those. Then absoloutly you can use the sets in that case.

What I'm trying to get at here is that it TOTALLY depends on what category you're building for and what you need those sets to represent in your build. So to answer the question, it's both yes, and no. My advice would be when you find out what category you get, to think about it and make your own decision. If you plan on using sets, I'd make DANG sure there's a good reason for it. Use your judgment.

will minifigs boost our score if they are custom made on a minifig scale catagory? such as if you had a mediocre diarama but excellent minifigs?

For me, your custom figs had better be really good and fit the MOC, not detract from it. I will say this, if someone puts a sharpied up fig in a MOC, you will not be looked upon with favor by this judge.

If I were you, I'd concentrate on just making the dio that much better. "WELL DONE" (and that's the key term there) custom figs can only enhance your build of course, but I wouldn't rely on that to save you in a Lego building contest.

This is all assuming of course you get a category that has anything to do with minifigs...

Are we allowed to use sig-figs? If so, then I will mostly have Mr. Bones in all of mine. (He is my favorite AFOL after all.)

Assuming of course that you get a category that requires the use of figs in any way, yes you can use sig figs. Just be sure it fits in with the moc.

are Stopmotions allowed?

Why not, they would be a nice addition to a page... just don't expect bonus points from the judges..

Not really no. It's not NOT allowed, but there's going to be no reason for it. I don't know how other judges will react to it but for me, meh, not so much.

There's just not a reason to use it. This is a building contest, not a computer skills contest. Same as with the photoshop rule, it's "technically" allowed but I would make SURE it's needed before trying something like that. And even then...

In the grand scheme of things, I'd advise against it.

If you were to use a stop motion in your entry, do not make it the focal point. The judges must have the still pictures of the build for judging purposes. We may or may not even watch the animation.

Are we allowed to use Bionicle pieces for the majority of a MOC for, let's just say, a Mech. I'm not saying totally Bionicle, but as the main workings.

What will determine the pairing of builders? Will it be random, or based on both MOCers skill and experience?

Would you qualify the photoshopping in this:http://mocpages.com/moc.php/215257 to be 'distracting'?

Nope, it's fine. You wouldn't get any "extra" points but the presentation would garner some attention (the good kind).

Short answer, stuff like that (for the main photo only) would be fine.

We're hoping not. The judges (mainly Yuri. That dude's a fiend!) have been working hard to come up with enough different categories so that EVERY match will have a new and different category in the game.

Yes, they're allowed but like CJ said, sparingly and at your own risk. If it's done well (where we, the judges, don't really notice them right off the bat) then it wouldn't be a problem for me. The other judges I can't speak for (although Kelso and I are pretty close on this one I think).

Short answer, yes, but carefully.

Yeap. Bionicle is Lego after all. Feel free to use what you want to make the best entry you can. Bionicle, Duplo, Bellville... heck even clickits and Galidor would be fine! Use your skills and resources as you see fit.

Is it okay for my dad to take all of the pictures and slightly edit them in photoshop? He takes pictures for stock photography and likes to take my pictures on normal MOC's. I just wanna know if I have to take them (He probably wouldn;t want me to touch it because how high quality it is... not to bragg cuz braggin is fer meaneez.

Let's put it this way. Wes Pitter's wife takes most of his pictures for him. I've got no problem with it. Like I just said about the Bionicle question, use what resources you have to make the best entry you can.

We're covered up to 128 players. If we need more, I still have some aces up my sleeves.

Chris, when do you think the actual mocOlympics will start? When the categories go up and all. And we can start challenging each other. Because to tell you the truth, I was to busy to gut into this last year.

Well, the date thing has already been answered but I will address another thing you said.

You won't be "challenging" each other. You will be assigned an opponent randomly by the judges when the games start. You won't know who your opponent is or what category you have until the first round begins.

AND there will be some side-events for those who got out but still have fight left in them (like last years's Dark olympics, but not quite).

I hope this has not been already answered, and I'm pretty sure it has, but if let's say a couple of months ago you got four headlight bricks and combined them like all those other builders do. And then in Round 1 you used those said headlight brick techniques again, but different colors. Is this considered recycling?

No, using techniques is fine. We're talking more about if you have a speeder bike or car or plane or whatever from before and you use it again, that's against the rules. Using techniques you've used in the past is perfectly acceptable.

i was looking at last years group for the games, and noticed one catergory was that you had to rebuild a set (take it apart and put it back together) and i was thinking that it may not be the best catergory as some of us may not have any boxed sets, or the money to go out at the moment and pick a set up. Sorry this isn't really a question.

I think you might be talking about the "set alternate" category. If that's the one you're talking about then you read it wrong. The category was to take a set and use those pieces to build a new moc.

Now, assuming that's a category again this year, you wouldn't have to get a new set for it. being as we're ALL Lego builders here, I'm pretty sure that at some point you've bought a set from somewhere at some point which means that you have the pieces of that set in your collection. All we'd be asking you to do is use the same pieces, not purchase a new one.

If you don't remember what parts came in what set (and let's face it, no one does) you can always look up the parts list on peeron.com. They have all the info you'd need for that kind of thing.

Hope that helps clear it up.

Color of eyes and number of vowels in the person's name squared.

It's totally random in a blind draw.

How will we know if we have won a round? Will we get an E-mail notification, or will there be a thread that goes, " Round 1 winners are: (insert names here)" ?

The judges will be voting on your creation (with a comment) so you'll know once all the judges (however many are assigned to your match. That will be determined later) have voted.

But after that, we will also be posting the results in the group.
