Questions thread
 Group admin
If you have any questions, post them here and one of the judges will get back to you as soon as possible.

If your question has already been answered, you will not get a reply. Be sure to read all the rules and previously asked questions before you ask to avoid doubling up.

NO questions about categories will be answered.

Also, not being rude, but anything that is not a question or an answer from either myself or one of the other admins will be deleted to keep this thread clean.

Other than that, have at it!

I'm wondering if you have a date when we're being paired up against each other? I'm going to be going to a hockey camp Aug. 8-12.

yeah and is their regulations on how large or small or "in topic" for creations and what if the judges treat us unfairly like if we have a star wars creation???

No. And they won't. I don't know what kind of judges you've dealt with in the past in other contests, but these guys are the best of the best. Their integrity is beyond reproach and they will NOT EVER judge someone lower based on something like that.

And who knows, you might not get anything star wars related as a category. Just build what's in your assigned category and if your MOC is better than your opponents, you win. Simple as that!

Cute...

Tell ya what. Ask me in the advice group with a link to a specific moc that you want me to look at and give feed back on and I will.

From this point on, questions about MocOlympics related things ONLY people.

Can we use a building style on previous MOCs? Like say.... You built a stained-glass window, and want to use it for the contest but just a little bit different. You undertand what I'm saying? One thing you built before, re-designed for the contest but with 99.02% new additions to the new MOC. (Not the same MOC of course cause that's against the rules.)

I see what you're asking but remember this... if it LOOKS like you recycled you'll be DQ'd. I'd say do it at your own risk.

Everything will be completely random. It's the only fair way. All players will be randomly paired with each other for the matches and the categories will be randomly assigned.

The next thing that would make me even happier would be if Goldman was judging. Can you create a secret account for him and make him a judge?

No. You have to deal with me, and I could not care less if you're happy. Strap in and get ready to build.

If our sig-fig is brick built does that qualify as an existing build? For example, mine is a frog on a small mech suit. It's about the same height as a standard minifig.

Sig-figs are not recycling. Just make sure you point this out at the end of your MOC and it should be fine.

I would think not using decals would give you more of a chance (depending on the build) as a lot of the judges like cleaner looks to the mocs. Again, depends on the category you're assigned and what you have to build.

Now here for a real question- Will we be able to go against our opponent (skill level etc.)? Or will we be pared up with builders our skill level? Unlike last year when I was paired with Luse...

So, does "random" mean something totally different in crayola land?

O.K. Legitimate question here - last year I seem to remember there being a rule about not posting until the 8th day of the 10 day limit for some reason? Would this still be the case or did I imagine the whole thing in a fever dream? This could have an impact on round one for me if we start on the 26th.

Will it be exactly as last year, I mean, will we be put into groups and so on?
And why there is no category thread? Are the categories already made by the judges?

As it stands right now, categories will be announced with each round's pairings.

As I understand it no, there's no such rule this year. Posting early is only going to your disadvantage, anyway.

I don't think so. Nothing explicit in the rules, except for references to "build" and "photo" editing.

No, LDD is not allowed. This is a Lego building contest, not a computer skills contest. Every year there's always one LDD guy who comes in and tries to get LDD approved but I'm sorry, the answer is no. If you'd like to use LDD to design your build, then order the parts (if you don't have them on hand) and THEN build your creation with real bricks, then that's fine but LDD is not an acceptable form of entry for the contest. Sorry.

And to follow that up, unless a size restriction is specifically stated in the category desription that you're assigned, there isn't any restriction on MOC size.

I can't find the link.

Not just to F250 here, but to everyone. PLEASE, if you don't already know how, learn how to link from one page to another.

When the games get started and you start posting entries, you will HAVE to have a link to your opponents entry (or if you post first, to their homepage) on your entry or you WILL be disqualified.

When you upload a moc, there is a link that says "Learn some simple HTML." This will teach you how to create links.

Also, just for everyone's information, we learned last year during the games that links will NOT work in the "description" portion of a post, you have to put it in the main body of the post for the link to work. My advice would be, if you don't know how, practice making links now so if you have any questions, we can help you before the rounds start. We'll be MORE than happy to help you out between now and the start of the games. There will be NO exceptions.

Thank you.

Assuming you make it through each round of course. MUHAHAHAHA
