Seriously, why has a straight out the box bit of megablock kit been elevated to the position of today's MOTD. It ain't Lego and in shouldn't be on this site at all, I'd argue even further that it shouldn't even be in your house and the shops either. It should be melted down and turned into disposable coffee cups at the local tax office. Permalink | January 15, 2012, 3:13 am |

I personally don't see why everyone disses on MEgablok. Contrary to popular belief, Megablok ~IS~ allowed on MOCpages. I happen to like some of their parts. The battlemech series they came out with was pretty decent, IMO. The parts from those come in handy for building heavy mecha, as their socketed joint pieces provide a good range of motion and stability. I don't really see the difference between them. If they are compatible, they're alright by me. I bet that, if people didn't say there were Megablok in their builds, when there is, people wouldn't have a negative thing to say about the build, but the moment the word "Mega Bloks" comes up, it becomes a horrible abomination. I think that's pretty sad. Permalink | January 30, 2012, 12:37 am |

The main problem that most people have with Mega Bloks is that the plastic used to make the pieces is cheap, shoddy, and fragile compared to LEGO-standard ABS.
You can feel the solidity and precision of an ABS LEGO part when you hold it in your hand. Hold a Megablok, and all you feel is resentment that the relative who bought it for you can't read package labels.
Step on a Megablok, and it's likely to splinter or warp. Step on a LEGO, and you hurt your foot.
Pack a dozen Megablox together, and they'll fall apart when someone slams the door too hard. Pack a dozen LEGO pieces together, and you have to use a special tool to pry them apart or risk breaking all your fingernails off. Permalink | March 28, 2013, 12:55 pm | |
