I'm still kinda new to mocpages ... and i sometimes come across abbreviations, acronyms, and phrases that i'm not sure what they mean.

So, i thought this would be a good place for me (or anyone else) to post questions ... and for anyone who might know the answer to post a responce.

And what are "greebles" and "WIPs" ... i think i know what they are, but i'm not sure if i'm right ... can someone let me know if i'm right (or wrong) ... and can somebody provide a short definition for those two words if i'm wrong ?

So, i'm just guessing here, but is this what they are ? ...

"Greebles" ... very cool and intricate details ?

"WIPs" ... unfinished and (or) abandoned mocs that were (or are about to be) scrapped ?

WIP = Work In Progress

Greeble = A detail to break up a design plane and add interesting texture.

Vignette/Diorama = I don't think there is a difference technically according to the dictionary both are small scenes, but a vignette could be a photograph. Here's a link to where it's discussed over at Lugnet.

Diorama to me would be something much larger than the 16x16 stud base, something like this...

Hope that helps.

"WIP" stands for work in progress. Greebles? That sound like some kind of race of space aliens. "AAIIEEE!! The greebles are attacking!!"

Vignette has a bunch of meanings so it could cover a broader scope, in the modern sense a diorama is specifically a model (usually a specific scene) built for display purposes.

In a modelling sense, a vignette would usually be smaller than a full diorama, possibly a diorama could be made of multiple vignettes.

Vignette is usually considered "small diorama". Both of them aim to capture certain moment but dioramas are usually much larger. Vignettes are usually 8 studs x 8 studs large or around that. Dioramas are usually over 16-20 studs wide, sometimes even hundreds of studs wide.
