Alright, here are my scores for everyone. There are also explanations for why I chose the score, and all of them are pretty long, so sit down, grab a nice drink, and get ready to read.
Nick Jensen - We'll Make Great Pets -
First off, the whole MOC is overall very well done. I really like the concept. It refers to 70s pop culture and is executed nicely. I thought the selection of minifigs was perfect, and going with a smooth vignette was a good choice.
Not quite sure about the small picture up in the right hand corner. Maybe something else up there would have been more suitable.
Still, I really enjoyed this MOC; although probably not to the fullest extent as someone from the 70s (Even though Nick isn't either), but still; Nice job. I’m giving you a score of 4.25. (The googley eyes were funny and a great idea. ;) )
Rubik - The Pet of the Future! -
Overall: Good job. I really liked the build. The pet itself had a nice, clean design, with cool looking legs. The 1 eye was also a good choice. For some reason, I liked that.
And although I thought that the base for the "pet" was unnecessary, it was good enough to actually enhance the MOC. Once again, nice smooth tiles.
But the best part of the creation: the marketing. You totally convinced me to buy it. This has been the pet I've always been looking for. You don't need to pick up after it, and it has wi-fi connectivity! What more could you ask for? Hahaha, just kidding around, but seriously...good writing skills
Unfortunately, I found something a bit lacking in the whole thing that I can't put my finger on. It seems...I don't know...too simple? I feel like maybe a little more complexity could have been nice, but the build itself is still solid.
Although I don't have $200 lying around at the moment, good work on the build. I'ma give you 3.75. Good job.
E.K.O =/ - "we will make great pets" mob rules entry! -
Alright, first off, I'll have to say...I struggled with this one. I kinda’ feel like a je rk with this one, but I gotta’ do this. I carefully reviewed what I was going to say several times to not totally sound evil.
Ok, first, I look at the title. It reads: “"we will make great pets" mob rules entry!”
I expectations were immediately low. No real title? All I know is it’s an entry and that it will remotely do with pets. The other two entries just stated the contest category or something to do with pets. Next time, just slide that into your introduction and maybe have something like “We’ll make great pets”. ;)
Anyway, then I look at the build...but I’m not quite sure what the build is. From what I can tell, it’s four figs, a bunch of parts, and a SNOT baseplate. So far, the snot baseplate is pretty good, although immediately ruined by the background. The white cord was really distracting. The presentation was pretty bad. Next time, just add in some nice white paper, and put it up against the wall. Also if you can, go to a Wal-Mart or superstore and get white posterboard. It’s even better. ;)
But anyway, so the bird...I was actually, extremely impressed by bird. It only used roughly ten or twenty parts, had a great look, and could almost be a droid for the Confederacy of Independent Systems/Separatists (SW) because of the color scheme.
But once again, the thing itself is ruined by the presentation. I really disliked the whole story to be honest. I felt the thing was sabotaged by you just trying to get “teh LULZ”. Covered in over capitalization, misspelling, and lower case words, I was a bit lost. Yes, I know you apologized for misspelling though. ;)
But all I really wanted to see was the bird, and a brief intro, and to get out. UNLESS the story was interesting and/or funny. Now I could tell you a few other things, but I'm not going to because this thing had A LOT of potential!
Trust me though; I'm trying to help you; not hurt.. and if you were offended: this is a contest where the people are judges and I am free to express my opinions. If I allegedly got you really ticked off, tell to me that you would like to discuss it and we will.
And people could say the same thing about mine, that the presentation was lame, but who cares! They can tell me. That's good. Then, I can change it for next time. So don't be yelling at me. ;)
But anyway, despite all that, I'm giving it a 2.25. The bird was pretty awesome looking, but was hard to look past all the stuff that got in the way.
There are my scores. All we need is one more person to put in their info and then we're good. =)
