Prizes!...(?)

I'm waiting to hear back from TLG to see if we're going to be lucky enough to get prizes again this year for the MOCie awards. As soon as I know something, I'll let everyone else know.

There IS one thing I do know however. For the AFOL of the year award, The ever gracious Shannon Young (last year's Moccer of the year award winner) has offered a prize for this year's AFOL of the year.

Now, before the T and Yfol winners get all whiny on me here, let me explain how and why this works.

The AFOL of the year will NOT be receiving a prize from the donated prizes, but will ONLY be receiving the prize from Mr. Young. Shannon has taken the time to design and build a trophy for this year's AFOL of the year! That trophy will be like a, in his words, "passing of the torch" from last year's winner to this year's winner. He is hoping that this will become an annual tradition and that this year's winner will do the same for next year's and so on.

I think this is an AWESOME idea and I can't thank Shannon enough for coming up with this idea and generously donating his prize to this event.

I'll update everyone with prize information as it becomes available.

IF you're under the age of 18 and you are nominated to win a prize, be SURE to get your parents permission before giving out any address information. A good idea that has worked out in the past is to have the prize shipped to your parents work address so that no home addresses are given out.

Be SURE your parents read this and are OK with it.

Any questions?

Unfortuantly, I didn't get a single nomination this year. Then again, I have to get myself noticed more here. Any tactics on how to get more views on my creations? No, I won't go spamming around people's pages, as I'm not the type of person who would do that.

wow, i know you were mentioning this yesterday, but that is cool. Didn't get the part that TLU is the sponsor. I thought it was just some junk sets or something.

Nice! I love the idea of the trophy being handed down each year. It gives an extra sense of community spirit to the site.

That's what you came up with? OK, go watch a lot of old Dennis Leary stand up, that should give you some ideas. As for the coffee, I am undead, how do you think I stay that way? HAHAHA, ok, you have my attention, time to go check your page out a bit.

Well let's see here Mr. nofaith... have I ever steered you guys wrong? They're being donated by The Lego Company. Ask anyone who's ever received a prize from anything I've been involved in and they'll let you know, it's not going to be just some keychain.

Now, that being said, I will say this. The Lego company isn't exactly "swift" when getting the prizes out to me (it took em about 3 months for last year's awards) so I can't promise promptness. What I can promise is that you WILL get them... eventually... as soon as I get em.

But I don't know anyone who has ever gotten a prize. I mean, people get small prizes here and there in unofficial contests, but I've never known anyone, nor been in, a large scale contest-award such as this. So forgive me if I'm rather skeptical.

Alright then Awesome-o-skeptic. Here's the set that I got for 6 of the prizes last year:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8106-1

And here's just another of the sets that was part of the prize package:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=6209-1

How's that? I don't know what sets will be in the prizes this year, but it'll be more of the same "type" of prize.
