I've been reading the books and watching the movies lately, and I have found that lots of the fans of the books, aren't fans of the movies and vice versa. Few people, like me, are fans of both... What are you?

Matters. Some parts are better in the book, like the Battle of Pellannor fields and all, but Peter Jackson pulled it off remarkably well for a thousand page book. Very little was added or deleted. Still, I'll always prefer the book.

In my opinion both were incredible pieces of work. I really liked both but the books are always a tad bit better then the movies.

I like both, but the book is the original, that means without the book the movie wouldīnt exist! However.... I think the movie has a better ending ( I donīt like that Saruman went to Hobbiton at the end and that they had to save it)

What? Really? I always liked that part... kinda' like a final adventure for the Hobbits.

Well... I like the story of that chapter, but I prefer the movie ending, because I didn't like that the Shire was destroyed. Just the thought of it breaks my heart... *sob*

I'd say I'm similar: I've seen the movies, but haven't read all the books yet. I've read The Silmarillion and The Hobbit, and currently working on the Unfinished Tales. Once I've finished that, I'll start into the trilogy.
