Concerning Mysterions

There have been some difficulties with the "Mysterion Wave!" theme, and that has lead to people not getting high marks in that category.
As I point out that what I'm writing here is only true for mysef, I will try to clarify and assist those having trouble with this category.

I must start saying that we chose to put in a "mysterion" category because we thought it was EASY: a mysterion is an UFO consisting in a colorful cubic canopy with weird black instruments attached to it.

So, let's review the basic requirements:
1- the main body should be a cube
2- the cube should be colorful
3- the arrays/instruments/whatevers should be black.

Many variations have come out in time, some are not colorful, some are not exactly cubic, in some the devices are not black, and some feature mutiple canopies.

But if you take away 2 or 3 out of those 3 requirements, the thing you built just isn't a mysterion, and if I can't tell "hey, it's a Mysterion" by the main pic, I will never grant it high marks.

I hope this makes things a bit clearer, you can research the theme by just typing "mysterion" in the search engine here (and ignoring most of the MOCathlon entries if you care for a high score).

Yuri.

I'm content with my score ;-)
This shouldn't be any form of criticism, but isn't this a little bit late? A few days before the end?
However, thank you and it's very helpful i think!

In Shannon's original outlining of the theme he said the appendages were only black for demonstrative purposes and that they didn't necessarily have to be black... maybe this has been amended somewhere along the line, but if not...?

As I specified, it's not really cecessary complete edherence. Many object posted aren't even perfect cubes. As long as you can see the thing and go "hey, that's a Mysterion" it's all good. I did many variations myself.

I dont Understand, Im not whining mind you, just asking a question. I fulfilled all of these requirements, but I still got a low score, you said It was for the Photography, It wasn't so bad that you couldn't tell what it is. Why did I still get a bad score? Cause the photos weren't perfectly centered? I dont think thats a reason to take away points... No whineyness intended :P

Hehehe. You didn't get a low score at all.. you only got 3s and 4s... 3 is a good score for a build that size in that category. I was merely poiting out that the angles you chose didn't make it easy to get a clean idea of it.

Well, I try to push my self to get better scores and to improve my Building. So for me it was low. :P But thanks for the response. I understand the reason though, thanks!
