RULES 2.1

As stated previously, the MOCathalon will run from Saturday, February 13th until Sunday, March 14th at 11:59pm EST (right before the MotD changes).

Each team must consist of FIVE members, at least three of which must be TFOLs or YFOLs. Let us say this another way; a team can be made up of 5 TFOLs or YFOLs, but ONLY two AFOsL maximum. Your team must be formed by February 12th.

There will be 30 different categories in which to build. Each TEAM will try to build in as many of the categories as they can. If, and only if, you cycle (and post) in every category, your TEAM may attempt the categories a second time (and possibly, though highly unlikely, more). THE LIST OF CATEGORIES WILL BE ANOUNCED FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH (until then, speculate as you will). Important note: your team must coordinate who is building what. No duplication within a category is allowed. The teams must decide WHO is building in WHICH category. This is why team work is essential to the competition.

Players do not need to build in every category, but the entire team must build in all 30 categories before you can build in a category a second time. You can speed ahead as much as you like. But, your team may not duplicate any of the 30 categories UNTIL all 30 have been covered.

ANY INDIVIDUAL BUILDER MAY ONLY BUILD IN ANY GIVEN CATEGORY ONCE. It does not matter what cycle that the team is in.

For example:
If a builder builds in the category "Purple Monkey Onion" in the first cycle (assuming his team can even get to a second cycle). Then he may not build in the "Purple Monkey Onion" category again in ANY following cycles. Another team-mate would have to build in it in the second cycle.

Teams will need to form group pages that include the five members of the team and the four judges. All the judges MUST be invited to your team’s group page.

The list of official judges:
Keith Goldman
Dave Kaleta
Lee Jones
Yuri Fassio

Back-up judge
Architect of Vonthako

All entries must be posted in the MOCathalon group AND the team group page to be judged. Each MOC entered must have the category of the build and the team name as the first line of the introduction of your post OR the first line of the post if you don’t use the introduction section. Entries that do not meet these criterion will NOT be judged.

We'll give you a little flexibility to title your creation, BUT the 'introduction' must say the team name and the category built in. Example:
"Kamp Kaleta's Komandos in the category of Batman".

The judges will rate each creation on the following scale:

DQ: disqualification. Cheating, such as plagiarism or reposting old mocs. Only the player in question will get a DQ, the team will live on.

0 Point: “Clone on a plate” type entries will be laughed at and you will not receive any points. Out of focus pictures, builds that don't match the theme, late entries, etc.

1 point: This is basically for just posting; now you have to put SOME effort into the MOC.

2 points: Good effort put forth. You spent some ‘actual’ time creating the MOC and it doesn’t burn our eyes to look at it.

3 points: Nicely done! Pictures in focus, attention paid to details and so on. You put a good effort into this and it shows.

4 points: Wow man, this is REALLY cool! You put a lot of work into this and we’re really impressed here!

5 points: Goldman and Kelso better watch out because YOU have arrived!

The judges will rate the creations during the competition. We will then take a few days to rate the sure to be flood of last minute entries. And finally, sometime between March 15th and 20th, we will announce the final results and champion.

Teams may not start building until February 13th. Any posts made after 11:59pm March 14th will not be judged. Creations must be made from actual Lego (no LDD). Creations are not required to be purist (Brickarms may be used). Carefully read the description of each category to meet the specifications stipulated within. Every creation must be a new and unique build. No recycling of older creations to make a new MOC look better. You may duplicate use of a plain, single colored, flat wall to use as a background for clean picture taking purposes ONLY if you wish.

Excelsior!

Players may not edit the build of a creation after it has been posted.

Some leeway will be allowed in the editing of type or pictures if no judge has voted on the MOC yet.

Once any judge has entered their vote, no part of the the post may be edited.

Players who violate these rules risk disqualification.
