CALLING FOR MOCTAG VOLUNTEERS!
Join to comment
 Group admin
As the newest MOCtag entry has been posted without anyone officially being tagged to go next (for the second one in a row, which is why I'm really annoyed at this), I am prepared to intercede and use my godlike dictatorial powers to declare someone It myself, if Andrew C. doesn't do it himself in a reasonable amount of time.

Anyone wishing to volunteer for #26 throw your name in the hat below. (Please note the seven-tag ban is still in effect. Builders of tags #20-#25 will be ineligible.) Thank you.

The #8 is back!! Or was it number nine? Ah well, I volunteer to do it again.

Having built #19, I could volunteer for this! But I'm not going to. The storyline has gotten too deranged for me to follow.

Yeah, I should probably go back and read the past eight or so since I just volunteered...

Hmm...

Maybe.
I'm not sure, however: is moctag remaining on the same scattered, LSD/pot inspired storyline or is it being rebooted?

Good luck with that! If you do get picked to do this, I hope you'll try to bring sanity back to MOCtag so I can understand what's going on again (at least for a while).

A handful of responses and only one real volunteer. Sad. Looks like JD better get ready to perform MOCtag CPR...

You say "LSD/pot inspired" like that's a bad thing. I say psychedelic drug use by the builders can only improve the so-called plot at this point.

But no, it is not being rebooted.

But no Rory?

So in other words, I can do whatever I want as long as it's titled 'Moctag: installment number 25'?

I refer you to the official rules at MOCtag #1, under "The Writing":

"Your section of the story may be absolutely anything, as surreal a plot twist as you can invent, as long as it can plausibly be connected to what has gone before, and as long as the next guy can conceivably carry on from yours."

I do think people have been stretching the "plausibly connected" since, oh, installments were still numbered in the single digits, but you get the point.

No, the four line rule is dead. D-E-D. Dead. Gone. Kaput. Disposed of. Thrown in the river with concrete galoshes. No longer here. Not with us anymore.

Anyhow, I'm going to be doing the next one; how the rest of you work it into the main plotline, such as it is, is up to you. Half the fun of MOCtag is making others squirm, after all. At least, that's the impression I get when I read some of the more recent ones.

I need hardly tell you that it doesn't work that way; you don't just call yourself It. Andrew has not tagged you. As your whole raison d'etre seems to be trying to annoy everyone, I would not be inclined to pick you either if I have to step in and tag someone for him.

If you're just trying to get a reaction, I hope it was worth it to you. If you do post an unauthorized MOCtag, it will not be welcome in this group. Nor, most likely, will you.

I never stated that my intent was trying to annoy someone.
I stated that the way MOCtag was going, the intent of the average MOCtagee seemed to be to make plot progression even more difficult.
The impression I gathered was that you wanted someone to do the next one.

As far as your being annoying, I was more referring to general conduct I have witnessed in various groups here on the 'pages. From what I can see, you do not play well with others. You have a habit of rubbing people the wrong way. For all I know you're one of those guys who just gets off on being a troll.

Given my perception of you, maybe you can understand why I would flare up when you announce you're making the next MOCtag. Not volunteering your willingness ("Hey, I wouldn't mind doing one, thanks.") -- brazenly declaring. You see where I'm coming from?

Anyway, this whole thread is moot now since Andrew has made a tag himself.

Hej, all!

I really love all the MOCtag entries. Can I join? Pretty please? I like making stories, I'm a decent MOCer, etc. Oi! Shannon! If you have an email address, could you email me at john@brickspace.org? If not, I'll check back here often. No prob.

I have no control over who gets tagged, nor do I want that control. It's completely up to the person who is It at the time who they choose.

The situation leading to this thread was a crisis of having nobody It for a time, for the second tag in a row. I felt it was a situation that warranted my intervention. Thankfully my intervention became unnecessary, and hopefully it never will become necessary.

But you are now on record as willing to participate if future taggees have trouble finding someone to go next. I can and will make recommendations if that happens.

What the heck? After I get the Mocie Awards done, I'll throw my name back in the hat for a tag. Of course that won't be till July... but then it's ON baby!

Now I'm almost sorry to sign up, but, fearing the rath of Shannon, I'll do my best not to screw up. My goal is to have #27 ready to post on the 18th of April.

I was leary when Alex asked, especially after reading the last bunch of chapters. I have no idea what is going on in the story. Alex said he is going to take it in a new direction but so did everyone before him. I guess I will too.

Just kidding. I'm going to build on Alex's bit and use the parallel universe concept. I'm getting part of my inspiration from a book. I can't tell you which one because I have forgotten the title. I won't be using any Star Wars themes, but I might use one of those silver robots from the current $10 set. I think those are cool.

Shannon - I think if you wanted a more cohesive story you would need to make even more rules about the story structure and content. Other wise chaos is what to expect. Everybody likes to be independant.

I think the dream of a cohesive storyline is pretty much a lost cause at this point, at least for MOCtag. (I won't rule out a new and improved take on the same concept being unveiled at some point in the future, though.) I just don't want to layer on a bunch of new rules.

Hopefully with the abolition of the four line limit, with people free to stretch out in their own posts without fear of me screaming, that will alleviate some of the disjointed feeling. Even if it bears only a nodding acquaintance to what has gone before, the builder now has every opportunity for his own entry to make sense within itself. Of course it boils down to each storyteller in turn to make his bit interesting. Some people just aren't good writers.

Rather than a continuous narrative flowing from one MOCtag to the next, I could see the appeal in a collection of related stories set in the same universe, if that's what it ended up being.

That's an admittedly optimistic view of the future of MOCtag... I have a feeling it's just destined to remain a hot mess.

I have a feeling it's just destined to remain a hot mess.

And happily so. =)

Although, inasmuch as everybody hates a ridiculously chaotic storyline, I have to point out that the experience of building a MOCtag episode for that certain builder is well worth any by-product produced from that entry.

I mean, my entry probably started the downhill ride for a little bit, but for me to participate in something so huge and popular being only a teenager...priceless.

That's my outlook on the great game of MOCtag. I think I've been on the pages long enough for my opinion to count somewhat.

Does it really matter whether it's chaos or not? It's great. I love it. So long as it sort-of follows from episode to episode, and it's funny and not too crazy, I don't care. It's gonna be great. Keep going, all!

Absolutely! That would be something new.

Could you build, write, and film it all in two weeks, though? That's going to be the new focus of my wrath, people bogging down MOCtag with their late entries.

http://www.mocpages.com/folder.php/52236 well MOC tag 23 was up for grabs to keep this tag from going under with the whole IM legend thing. I spiced this one up with scenes from MOC tag 524. The end is Rory walking into a hotel with yellow and white stripes for walls. You make up the rest. The link is on top.

I don't know why you thought #23 was "up for grabs," since we had a perfectly good #23 already and are way past that... At any rate yours was not an officially recognized and sanctioned MOCtag so I have removed it from the group.

And your link goes to the wrong place.

Hey! Long-standing fan of MOCtag. I've got a MOCtag #29 in my mind, if Zack isn't going to get 'round to it anytime soon. Could I send it to you for your approval (or maybe link you to my non-LEGO picassa) when I'm done? That's if Zack doesn't mind and I can find someone reliable to tag. I know it isn't the done thing, but...

If you want, after the olympics, I'll toss my name in to help reboot. MOCtag was too cool of an idea to just let it die without a fight.

Oh, and to that jerk who called me and the other last participators in MOCtage 'inexperienced': oh, wait, I can't swear on here, can I?
